Chapter 511: The Sword
"So who is this kid?" Lance was leaning over Arthur who was lying over a blanket. Mammon decided to enjoy their rest by creating booze which everyone was currently drinking.
"This is Arthur Pendragon," Leviathan said. "Earlier, Saitan told me all about him and how he became one of Malice's Vassals."
"A similar spell that was placed onto your mother was cast onto Arthur," Saitan said. "He's currently dissociated with time after he was sleeping for so long, so he might take a few more days to recover."
Lance looked worried as he watched the sleeping form of the young king. After Paphet was separated from him and Legion was no longer manifested, Arthur's body had shrunk by a significant size.
He was now a young boy with platinum blonde hair and pale skin that was as white as snow. From his looks, he was only fifteen but his build was more muscled than the kids his age. Albeit he wasn't as muscled as the Adventurers, you could say that he had gone through his own training.
"What do we do with him?" Lance asked. "We certainly can't just leave him here can we?"
"His origin is in Spice Islands," Elliot said as he approached them. There was a glass of booze in his hand, so it was safe to say that Mammon had gone through him before he walked towards them. "I remember Jameson talking about King Arthur back at the Championship of the Greats."
"Wait, where are Jameson and Katarina?" Lance asked. "I don't think I've seen them after they saved us back at the guild."
"I sent them on another mission," Frederick said dismissively. "So, Elliot. What did Jameson say?"
"Not much, actually," Elliot said. "But he did say that Arthur married a woman. Maybe they did indeed have a child and then centuries later, we have Katarina Malleoulus."
"Katarina is indeed a descendant of Arthur and she can wield the Excalibur," Frederick hummed. "But where is the sword now? Anyone has any ideas?"
They all flinched after hearing a loud thud right by the bonfire that Mammon started. It was the Behemoth himself, falling to the ground after he was too intoxicated by the barrels of alcohol he had consumed.
"Hey, Mammon," Leviathan walked over to him and pinched his ear. "We are trying to figure out things here and you're still trying to start a party."
"I'm lonely, okay?" Mammon groaned. "I survived after facing father. I should celebrate that."
"That fake Forsaken has not a single ounce of the power that he had," Leviathan sighed. "So, stop this madness."
The older Deathly Prince dragged his brother to the side and lectured him. This made the group erupt in laughter as they continued their talk.
"Excalibur is famous because it could destroy kingdoms with little to no effort from its wielder," Frederick said. "If we could have it, then maybe we can at least have a chance against Death."
"Then where do we get it?" Lance asked. "This was six hundred years ago. Who knows where it's been?"
"Another thing is that Excalibur has long since been inactive," Aquarius added. "If it was in any kingdom, then they should've bragged about it."
"You don't have to trouble yourself," Madam Locraine chuckled. She was on another side of the field with several artifacts around her. Artifacts were around two meters from her and there were six of them placed at equal distances from each other.
"Find your brother," Madam Locraine reached for the skies. It was this time that glowing circles outlined the artifacts while they were connected to a pentagram made of light. Madam Locraine who was in the middle was also outlined with a circle, a bigger one, and her circle had engravings on them that were from ancient scripts.
"She can do that?" Elliot turned to Irus. "Your mother keeps surprising me."
"She told you," Irus smirked proudly. "She contains power from eons. Her vast pool of magic is endless."
"Wow," Elliot could only gasp as the outlines of the artifacts glowed brightly. Madam Locraine closed her eyes and placed both of her hands on her chest as she focused on finding the Excalibur
"It has been said that artifacts know each other," Irus said. "Or at least one in six of them know each other. This is why she performs this ritual."
"Blanket Cove," Saitan cast above them. "Her altar is too bright. We might attract unnecessary attention."
"That's some quick thinking," Mammon purred while he was still barely conscious. "My brother can think like that?"
Saitan rolled his eyes and completed his skill. It was a large black dome that blended with the night skies of the forest. Anyone would not notice this because of how well the dome blended with its surroundings.
"I also deactivated our magic from outside the dome," Saitan said. "Basically, all of our magic is currently limited here apart from Madam Locraine's which requires her to send and receive signals."
Elliot had thought that he saw the Behemoths perform their very best, but he still would keep getting surprised by how powerful they actually are and how many more of their magic are just kept as their secrets.
After a few minutes, Madam Locraine opened her eyes and she gasped. She turned to Irus and slowly shook her head which meant a bad sign.
"I assume you have good news and bad news?" Irus asked. "Which weighs more?"
"The bad news, unfortunately," Madam Locraine sighed. "But at least I found it. The thing where it's located is the difficult part."
"Then where is it?" Elliot asked.
"The Azure Palace," Madam Locraine revealed, making everyone silent.
"How would it be inside that place?" Elliot asked. "And have you confirmed it?"
"A mercenary tried to enter the palace and thought he could use the Excalibur," Madam Locraine said. "This person died trying to activate the sword's power and one of the knights took it from that man's corpse."
"This is why I trust humans less and less," Irus sighed. "You guys just find things that would make other things even harder for the rest of us."
Everyone knew that this meant to be a joke from Irus, so they just laughed it off. The demon was known to joke a lot, but his humor didn't sit right with them before, so they tried to learn and understand him. When they did, they finally found his jokes remotely funny.
"By now, Death had completed his absorption of the second Palace," Leviathan said. "If we barge into Azure Palace right now, then we can still get that Excalibur."
"Oh, there is still one thing about the sword," Madam Locraine said. "I told you that it was taken by one of the knights, right? Apparently, the one who took it is a Kingsguard."
"No bother," Irus said. "As long as we can locate that Kingsguard, then there should be no problem trying to recover the sword."
"And that's the problem," Madam Locraine gulped. "The Kingsguard who used to wield it was consumed by the King. Now, the King has the Excalibur. This being said, the Azure King is as strong as an Absolute, probably stronger. There is in no way we can handle it."
