Chapter 508: The Rise of the Forsaken
From the stone arch of the Moonlight Altar, a gigantic dark red hand crawled out. The hand had claws for nails and it didn't have any skin, only muscles that were dark red and a reddish-black in color.
"What in the hell is that?" Elliot could only gasp as they watched the giant hand reach out to the Armageddon. It opened its palms which revealed a mouth that had sharp and pointed teeth.
Each tooth had an engraving that Elliot knew somehow that it was from the Abyss. The symbols that were engraved in each tooth were the ones that he saw Irus and the other Behemoths use before.
The hand grew exponentially as it approached the Armageddon. Its size became so big that it did not hesitate to eat the Armageddon in one gulp. It chewed on the giant beast as the latter screamed in pain.
As it slowly consumed the Armageddon, the symbol that were on the hand's teeth glowed with a red color.
"That symbol is the purification spell that the Crescent Devourer uses to cleanse its prey," Irus said to Elliot as he stood beside the boy. "This is why I still regard Leviathan as the strongest Behemoth. He can absorb his enemies and use their power as his own."
While Leviathan was using his Crescent Devourer to eat the Armageddon, Mammon and Saitan rushed to where Legion was. The number of Paragon souls that had been sacrificed had reached half, but they were still having a hard time approaching Legion.
"There are just too many of them," Saitan said. "What can we do?"
"The only thing that we can do," Mammon raised his hand and pointed it at the souls. "Festival of Theft."
A giant magic circle appeared below Legion. He didn't look down at it as he continued to chant his spell, but the magic circle was sucking down the skills of the souls.
The scene was like dust being sucked by a vacuum. The skills were stolen and Mammon gained all of them. "Now, it should be easier for us to enter."
"Thank you," Legion suddenly grinned and looked at them. "Without their skills, they are nothing but a source of powers. The skills were the remnants of their past lives and the ones that carry their thoughts."
"So, that's why you didn't stop me from using my magic," Mammon growled. "What a cheap trick."
"Cheap trick, critical trick, or even a well formed battleplan. None of those matter if they don't work," Legion said. "The only way to win is by using whatever method it is that suits you. That is how you win battles."
He then clenched his fist and screamed. This caused the well to collect all of the souls at once, merging them into itself.
"The souls did not want this too. They were fighting against their fate. That was why it took me such a long time to do it," Legion said. "But after you stole their skills, the well just consumed them in a blink of an eye. All thanks to you."
The well was shaking. The orbs from the bottom part of the columns of the altar that Legion created glowed, sending a thin strand of beam to the top of the column and the beam traveled to the center of the well where all six beams were connected.
"This is bad," Irus said. "They weren't able to stop Legion from creating the Forsaken."
"Oh, no," Elliot whispered as they watched the well fire a strong and powerful beam made of black light into the skies. The beam pierced the barriers of the realms and reached all six realms with its presence.
"This aura, this is not normal," Lance said. "Elliot, could this be the–"
"Forsaken," Elliot whispered. "It's here."
The well exploded along with the Alter. The beam dissipated and it was replaced by a large orb of a black liquid.
"Arise, my child," Legion said. "You shall henceforth be known as Despair and you shall tear this realm apart."
"No," Irus muttered. He tapped Elliot's shoulder and smiled. "You guys should escape here."
"What about you?" Elliot asked. "We won't leave without you guys."
"You cannot handle the black aura that it will spew out in a moment," Leviathan said.
"Leviathan, can't you consume it?" Elliot asked. "They have almost the same power as the Armageddon. Maybe you can devour it just like what you did to the creature?"
Leviathan shook his head and smiled before he lost consciousness. Irus caught him without any problem and he turned to Elliot.
"The Crescent Devourer had already returned to his arch and his body was now trying to utilize the new power," Irus said. "He used up all of his energy and it will take some time before he can recover."
Irus handed Leviathan to Frederick. "Please take care of him for us."
"What are you going to do?" Frederick asked.
"Legion wants to destroy this realm," Irus said. "Then I will destroy it myself."
The demon snapped his fingers and immediately conjured a portal below the Terrans. They fell inside the portal and were sent back to Terra.
"No, no, no," Elliot whispered. "That power. That Forsaken is too powerful. They already have a hard time defeating the Armageddon. What can they do about this one?"
"You just need to trust Irus's decision, Elliot," Madam Locraine said. "He's a very calculative man and he won't do anything too harsh."
"But why does it feel like I'll never get to see him again?" Elliot asked. "He made it feel like that."
"You know how he is," Madam Locraine chuckled. "We just have to wait here for their return."
"I can't just wait here while my friends are fighting a–" Elliot suddenly felt the world spin. He got sleepy in an instant.
"You need to calm down," Madam Locraine showed him a small wand. "Lay down, Elliot. Rest up first."
Lance caught Elliot before the latter could fall to the ground. The boy released a satisfied sigh as he thanked Madam Locraine. "I was worried that he wouldn't calm down. Thank you for that."
"I have something to ask of you," Frederick said. "There aren't a lot of beings that can manifest a room in a separate dimension. But Irus had a world of his own. It wasn't as big as Terra, not going to lie. It was tiny. But still, how can he do something like that?
It must've required him a heavily huge toll in his body."
Madam Locraine was silent after Frederick's question. "To be honest, I also do not know. The moment he told me that we were going to move to his own realm, I thought he found a forest where nobody knew about. But he was serious, he had his own realm."
"There are things that Irus hides from us," Frederick said. "Do you think it will fire back at him in the future?"
"Whatever affairs Irus has, I have no intention to meddle with," Madam Locraine said sternly. "I am here as his mother, not as his second brain. I am here to guide him when he gets lost, but he's not lost yet. At least, that's what I'm hoping for."
