I Know the Secret to Surpass Level 100

Chapter 491: Cornered

"We have observed odd movements that came from the Palaces," Zeus said. "We think that the Kings are moving out slowly. There are also attacks on small villages near the Palaces."

"We already knew," Frederick said. "But the demons doesn't want the mass to know because of this."

"You…" Zeus glanced at Leviathan who was behind Frederick. "You already knew but didn't tell us?"

"That's because we don't want everyone to get involved," Leviathan replied. "The more people who knows, the less beneficial it is for us since everyone would panic."

"I don't think that's the only reason for it," Zeus chuckled. "What is it that you truly want?"

"We want to extract the powers from the Kings and revive my siblings," Irus walked into the conversation. He just woke up from his nap. "I know we can catch the Kings and we can take their powers. Since my siblings' powers are embedded within them, I can bring them back."

"Irus…" Elliot trailed off. "Was this your plan all along?"

"Yes," Irus said without hesitation. "The moment I saw all my siblings die, I knew I have to do something. I used you, I used everyone. The Absolutehood War is inevitable, so that's why I made myself useful for the preceding events, just so you'd trust me enough."

"But why are you telling us this now?" Elliot asked. "Why did you reveal your true intentions?"

"Because Death appeared," Irus said. He was expressionless, the words he spat contained no remorse whatsoever. "After I saw him, I felt like there's no use for me to use you anymore."

"Irus…"

"Elliot," Irus smiled. "Think of this as a favor. I'll get rid of the Kings and then bring my siblings to my world. You don't have to worry about anything anymore."

"But I don't want that," Elliot argued. "We were friends, weren't we?"

"You actually believed that?" Irus chuckled. "Elliot, I am a demon. I am one of the highest ranking demons. You think something as silly as friendship would mean something to me?"

"So, all your words," Elliot took a deep breath. "None of those matter? None of those were real?"

Irus took a second to answer. He licked his lips and shook his head. "Not a single word."

"Alright," Elliot smiled. "Alright."

A black cloud exploded above them, Death appearing in front of them. "Hello."

"Death?" they gasped.

"Let's go," Death said.

Everyone watched as the demons followed Death. They hovered above the ground and into the dark cloud that Death created. There, the latter smiled before making the cloud collapse so they could teleport.

"What…" Connor couldn't believe it. "What just happened? Elliot?"

"They need help," Elliot said. "The words Irus said just now. None of those were real."

"How did you know?" Zeus asked, raising his brow. "The man had no remorse in his voice. He spoke so lowly of you."

"True," Frederick added. "Elliot, he played with your emotions. He even said it himself."

"And he wasn't even sorry," Connor agreed. "He just used us. And now you think he didn't do it on purpose."

"The way he hesitated to answer when I asked him," Elliot pointed out. "He hesitated to answer which means he was contemplating. He didn't really mean anything he just said and he was asking for help."

"But why would they do that?" Lance asked. "Why would they suddenly switch sides?"

"Death," Elliot whispered. "Death came and their entire purpose has changed. The Sins and the Princes were just children of the Forsaken. If you think about it, they have no military position in their army."

"But Death does," Lance said. "Death must've threatened them. He's still loyal to the Forsaken after all."

"He wants to revive the Sins because he wants to destroy Terra," Elliot spoke. "Death is the enemy. He's trying to destroy this realm."

"I am sending patrols over all the Palaces," Zeus said. "We shall know what Palace they're going to take down first."

"Death can fight a King," Elliot said. "So tell your men to not engage in a fight with him."

"Alright," Zeus said before stepping out to contact his men.

Meanwhile, Frederick was devising a plan to steal the Kings from Death. He was instructing his guild members from the guildhouse when they felt a sudden shaking outside.

"Zeus?" Frederick called out. He opened the door and saw a large brick wall. "Zeus? What is this?"

"I'm sorry, Frederick," Zeus said. "But you are collaborators with the demons. You didn't tell us with what was going on. We're not sure if we could trust you."

"Zeus!" Frederick called out. "It's just us, why are you doing this?"

"Goodbye."

They heard Zeus's footsteps die down, meaning that he walked away from them. Frederick was about to fire a ball of flames into the brick wall when a small flower grew from in front of it.

The flower bloomed and now it was showing Zeus's face. "Hello? Is this on? Elizabeth, are you sure this is working? Hello?"

"Zeus?" Frederick leaned in. "What are you doing down there?"

"Death has the Trinity of Power in his hands," Zeus said. "He trapped them in a dungeon somewhere and he now controls the kingdom. I'm still trying to figure out how to bypass the security and release them, but you have to wait for now."

"Zeus, you cannot expect us to just stay still and do nothing," Luck chuckled. "You know how fight thirsty our people are. We can't just remain inside your silly brick wall."

"But you have to," Zeus said. "Death is watching you. If you try to even break one part of this wall, he will kill all of the Trinity of Power."

"But what shall we do, Zeus?" Lance was the one who spoke this time. He was now involved after hearing his father being taken as hostage. "I can't just sit here and let my father be taken by them."

"You cannot do anything," Zeus shook his head. "Johnson almost perished trying to fight Death. You cannot follow his footsteps."

"J-Johnson?" Elliot stuttered. "But–"

"That is why you need to behave," Zeus said sternly. "Don't try to do anything reckless and just behave. I will return for you."

With that, the flower that was shaped like Zeus's head died and rot. It turned to dust and vanished right before their eyes.

"What shall we do now?" Elliot asked Frederick who sighed.

"We wait," Frederick said. "That's all we can do."
