I Am A Table [LitRPG Isekai Progression Fantasy]

Chapter 98: She wore a pair of metallic gauntlets labelled ‘Donkey Self-Riding Gauntlets’

Blorbo didn't know how much time had passed since he dropped into that portal. The sensation was the same annoying and disorientating one he'd felt when he was in the robed mage's portal, just magnified tenfold. He was again stretched and compressed, and his very essence vibrated with the echo of a thousand sugary screams.

Finally, with a crumple, the disorienting chaos snapped. Blorbo registered a high-pitched, childish war cry, the wobbling sound of something squishy impacting something else (also squishy), and a sickeningly sweet, fruity odor that permeated everything.

Lena landed with a surprisingly soft, yet incredibly bouncy, impact. Before Blorbo could even process their new surroundings, a hulking, brightly colored shape loomed directly in front of them. Its eyes, twin black jelly beans, glowed with primitive rage. It was a Gummy Bear Berserker, even larger and more savagely equipped than the last, clutching a massive, serrated lollipop blade.

As Lena landed, still cross-legged from her portal-sitting stunt, the lollipop blade slashed downward and connected with her chest.

No!

But instead of slicing through flesh, Blorbo felt a strange, elastic recoil. The blade bounced off, momentarily deforming Lena's body with a soft squish before springing back. The impact didn't cut, but it sent Lena tumbling backward through the air with a surprised yelp.

As they flew, Blorbo's perception swam, trying to take in their surroundings. This wasn't a peaceful marshmallow field. This was a warzone. Towering structures of hardened sugar and candied rock candy formed makeshift barricades. Fluffy white marshmallow fields were churned into sticky craters, littered with shattered candy shards and globs of melted gummy residue.

Everywhere, there was combat. Smaller, agile figures with glistening, jewel-toned scales, wielding weapons crafted from crystallized sugar, darted amongst the giant marshmallow structures. They looked like wingless dragons. Those miniature versions of the Candy Dragon Queen roared challenges in surprisingly high-pitched voices as they slashed the gummy bear berserkers in half.

The air vibrated with the sounds of battle: the thud of gummy fists, the clink of candy-cane spears, the high-pitched battle cries of dragonkin, and the guttural roars of berserkers.

Lena, still sliding across the marshmallow ground, finally came to a stop near a shattered sugar crystal formation. She pushed herself up, looking bewildered but miraculously unharmed.

"Did that giant gummy just... try to poke me?" She exclaimed.

Some other Gummy Bear Berserkers charged forward in a sticky, relentless tide, their enormous lollipop blades swinging wide. One of them connected with a Dragonkin Soldier. There was a sickening CRACK as the crystallized sugar scales shattered. Glittering shards flew in all directions. The Dragonkin shrieked, its limb buckling. Soon, those limbs were crushed by the sheer impact, leaving behind a sticky, web-like fracture.

What? So that weapon can cut through candy but not human skin?

Lena had just managed to scramble to her feet when another Gummy Bear Berserker, larger and even more aggressively vibrant in hue, charged her. It moved with surprising speed for its bulk.

Lena, duck!

But Lena was too surprised to react.

The blade swung with a sickening WHUMP. It smashed directly into Lena's side. A brutal, blunt impact reverberated through Blorbo. Lena cried out, a sharp, uncharacteristic sound of pain. The world momentarily blurred for Blorbo.

[-6 HP]

Ow! That blade can't impale but it sure can hurt!

Lena staggered backward, clutching her side, her face no longer bewildered, but contorted in genuine discomfort. "It hurts!" She yelped. "Please stop! I-I'm not your foe! I love candies! I love gummy bears!" She raised her hands before her.

The gummy bear stopped for a second.

She continued, "Really! I love consuming candies, chewing them, and popping them in my mouth!"

The gummy bear stopped stopping. It let out a triumphant roar, already winding up for another crushing blow.

The berserker moved, and Lena moved back. Soon, there was nowhere to go. It cornered Lena against the shattered sugar crystal, its massive lollipop blade poised for another pulverizing strike.

A sharp tremor whooshed past Blorbo. A whirlwind of invisible force erupted, forming razor-sharp blades of concentrated wind.

The wind blades tore through the Gummy Bear Berserker. Its hulking form didn't melt or squish; it was shredded, cleanly sliced into dozens of perfectly separated, multi-colored segments, scattering across the marshmallow ground with soft thuds. The lollipop blade clattered harmlessly.

Blorbo's perception flickered, his Skill Appraisal of the Thousand Realms snapping into focus, reading the lingering magical signature.

[Gale Severance—Rare-level Spell—Level ???]

Rare-level? And I can read it perfectly? That's… that's a spell from my realm!

Lena, still wincing and clutching her side, slowly turned around with her wand still clutched in her hand.

Her eyes widened even further as she stared at the two figures who now stood just meters away, framed against the swirling chaos of the candy battlefield.

They were Anders, holding a wand-sized wand, and Rob, who had his sword between his hands.

She exclaimed, "Dad? Honey? Why are you guys here?"

Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.

"Because of you!" Anders immediately reprimanded, "We spent a month trying to find a seer to locate where you are. Once we knew you were in the Candy Realm, I opened a portal to take us to you."

"A month?!" Lena gasped. "T-then shouldn't you have had to spend a month traveling too?"

It didn't feel like a month though. Lena would've died from thirst and hunger if the travel time was a month. Maybe the Pillar of Exchange or whatever took away a month of her life. Which would be a tremendous price to pay to cast a spell.

"No. A day or two at most. Your exchange with the magic force needs to be swift and precise, or the force might take away your time as part of the transaction."

Rob said, "You two keep chatting. Another berserker is heading our way." He raised his sword as he walked the other direction, toward that berserker.

"B-but what about your sword? And won't you be a wanted man back in our world if you use advanced magic?"

"You think I will let a gummy bear kill my daughter?" Anders grumbled.

Wow. I didn't know Anders was capable of that level of care.

"Awww. That's the sweetest thing you've said to me in a long time." Lena clutched her chest, where her heart was at.

"You might be dumb and always ruin everything, but you're still my daughter."

"Okay. Less sweet now."

Rob had slashed that berserker in half.

It seems like humans are OP in this realm!

"I can deal with the fallout once we're back. There's only a possibility they might detect my magic, but if I don't search you out there's a certainty you'll die to a gummy bear and tarnish my name."

Why are they able to just have a conversation when everyone around them is still fighting?

Then Blorbo saw the reason why.

A gleaming figure galloped forward on a magnificent, armored white horse. It was Marin, the blonde knight. His sword, unlike the Berserkers' blunt instruments, was wickedly sharp. He routed enemies around Blorbo, and with every graceful swing, another Gummy Bear Berserker was cleanly sliced in half, their sugary innards spilling across the marshmallow ground.

"Marin is here too?!" Lena asked. Her voice was a mix of disbelief and relief.

"He offered to help," Anders said.

The right question here is how Anders managed to TELEPORT A HORSE.

Then came Griesa prancing behind Marin on a donkey half the size of his horse. She wore a pair of metallic gauntlets labelled 'Donkey Self-Riding Gauntlets'.

"She didn't offer to help," Anders grumbled. "She stole a donkey and hopped into the portal when she saw Marin coming."

"And Ducaz?"

Ducaz? No way he'd agree to help out. He'd weasel away the first possible moment, probably already found a comfortable rock to hide under in some distant realm, waiting for all this to blow over.

As if on cue, a shadow fell over them. It wasn't the Umbral Cloak of the outside world, but a grander, more majestic silhouette. Looking up, Blorbo saw a truly colossal sight: Ducaz, perched precariously but confidently on the back of a GIANT FLYING CANDY DRAGON. Its scales glistened like polished rock candy, and its wings, vast and translucent like spun sugar, beat slowly, stirring the marshmallow dust below. Ducaz himself, ever stylish, adjusted a pair of goggles perched on his forehead, a manic grin plastered across his face. He even waved.

He's here?!

"I had to teach him Reptile Subjugation Spells," Anders sighed.
