Chapter 131: The Burned Sky
"What do you see, Your Divineness?!"
King Grey desperately asks The Divine One as she is in a trance-like state. The Emperor calms King Grey down, stating nothing is wrong with The Divine One. She is simply focusing on the vision she is getting so she doesn't lose it.
All of us in the room are quiet as she speaks in whispers, trying to see further into the vision. We all strain our ears to hear her more clearly. Every word she speaks increases the tension in the room. I understand why people call her The Divine One now. Why they listen to her, as knowing even a few minutes in the future can mean the difference between life and death.
She starts speaking louder and more rapidly now.
"They have awakened. They are close! Hundreds. Hundreds of them!"
She starts raising her voice to the point we have to cover our ears now. The Emperor talks to her calmly while using his hands to keep The Divine One steady.
"Hundreds of what? What do you see?"
She tries to speak, but nothing comes out. She stands still as the room falls silent once more. Her mouth begins to move as an ancient voice begins to speak like an oracle.
"When the Light Emperors return, and the dragons strike, the sky will bleed."
The Divine One's eyes lose the colorful magic and she passes out. The Emperor catches her before she falls onto the floor. Healing mages rush over. The Emperor gives them specific instructions, and she is taken away from the room. He turns to all of us.
"She will be okay. She ends up fainting every time she speaks like an oracle, as it drains a lot of her mana. With some rest and mana potions, she will be alright. Now let's figure out what she said means."
King Grey nods in agreement and speaks to all of us.
"It seems like the Light Emperors are indeed alive and are arriving to Glozaria soon. It seems they have hundreds of dragons in tow with them. Majority of dragons are D-rank or E-rank, meaning we stand a decent chance against them. However, the ones classified as S-rank are going to be a lot to deal with, to be honest."
The tension in the air grows denser once more as we all realize the implications of what's happening. If nothing could get any worse, several imperial guards run into the room with an elite messenger in tow.
The elite messenger bows to the Emperor and King Grey. He stands up to report his news.
"Meteor-like flashes have appeared near the coast off of the Eastern Sea. We have reports coming in that magic beasts and Eradicators have started their attack. Our forces on the coast of Veltheria Republic and the Seylora Theocracy are holding them off the best they can. However, they are getting pushed back pretty badly. What is your call, Your Imperial Highness?"
Everyone turns to look at the Emperor. He speaks in a loud, commanding voice.
"Mobilize every single elite messenger you can find and our intelligence agents to keep the flow of communication quick and snappy. We are too large of a force to immediately mobilize, so we are starting preparing today to be ready when they attack. Knights! Start training immediately and preparing supplies."
The knights salute the Emperor.
"Yes sir!"
Everyone in the Pedgas Castle is now mobilized once again. However, everything is quicker now and more intense as the implications of war actually become a reality. I grip the hilt of my wand in my pocket. It's so annoying that I can't help on the frontlines right now. My power can be used to save so many people.
I find my sister and ask her to borrow the elemental sphere of light necklace from her. She agrees as I tell her I want to test my combat magic with both spheres of light and darkness. Wearing both necklaces feels overwhelming at first, but I manage to contain it.
I ask the magic knights on the training grounds to spar with me. They agree and I promise to take it easy on them. I had at least eighty attack me together at once. I am so much stronger now than I was during the Oriventh Hundred Trial.
I launch advanced affinity level magic one after the other as I enter a flow state with my dark and light magic working together to fend them all off. I make sure to not make the spells too powerful to not injure our magic knights before battle.
After about ten minutes, I wiped out most of the magic knights from attacking me. I fall to one knee as I am covered in sweat. I feel like I am about to pass out myself. My breathing is heavy as I do my best to control it. My forehead suddenly feels cold and refreshed as Ivy holds a cold wet cloth to my forehead.
"Don't overtrain yourself, silly."
I hold the cold wet cloth to my forehead as she helps me stand fully back up.
"Drink this, baby."
She hands me a mana potion, which I drink quickly. I immediately feel refreshed. She knows I am overworking myself to prepare for the frontlines. I smile as I finish drinking the mana potion. Before Ivy could think for another second, I reach out my hand and place it gently on the back of her waist and pull her in for a kiss. Many of the magic knights whistle at the moment.
Who cares what they think? She is mine.
I feel her smiling as our kiss is prolonged. She lightly pushes me back.
"Save that for later, tiger."
I smile back. Even in the worst of times, you can find the best of things.
A few messengers run past us, letting us know dragons are spotted in Tarondar.
My smile turns back into an unreadable expression.
They are getting closer. When they get even remotely close to me, they are going up in flames like how they killed everyone else. They will die to my flames of Hell.
I'm ready for you all.
