Chapter 130: The Divine One
Ivy and I wake up feeling very refreshed from last night.
We do our usual new morning routine together. I tease her as usual as I lightly tickle her waist while she is brushing her teeth. She almost sent me flying into a wall with her elbow, but it was worth it. I fix my hair in the mirror and splash cold water on my face to make sure I stay refreshed.
We then both head to the closet and put our clothes on. I check to make sure I look good in the mirror and then grab my wands from the nightstand. I open the bedroom door and let Ivy walk through first. I follow after her.
The meal room is packed as breakfast is being served.
The Emperor and King Grey wave us on over to the main table where our friends are at. We eat a delicious assortment of food. The food isn't as great as the food at the imperial dining hall, but it's still pretty good. The Emperor explains to us how The Divine One is in reference to the leader of the Seylora Theocracy. The Emperor explains how the leader must be referred to as Her Divineness at all times unless she corrects you.
We all nod in agreement and understanding. None of us want to make a bad impression.
A messenger runs into the meal room. This time with good news.
"The Divine One has arrived! I repeat, The Divine One has arrived to the Pedgas Castle!"
We all rush to get up from our seats as everyone makes their way to the entrance of the castle to catch a glimpse of the leader of the Seylora Theocracy for themselves. The doors swing open as the castle guards open it for us as we step outside into the sunlight.
The Divine One is standing regally with great posture and humble robes. The silver and gold crosses on her robes fitted with wings sprout from her clothes, marking her as The Divine One. She walks up to the Emperor and gives him a great big hug. The Emperor smiles back and hugs her in a great bear hug.
They seem like siblings.
The Emperor invites The Divine One and her entourage inside, and the meal room is expanded to its limit as the Seylora leader joins us for breakfast. The Emperor explains to us, along with the Seylora leader, how they were both close childhood friends. The Emperor's father used to take Hadrian the III all the time to the Great Temple of Orion in Seylora where the Divine One was being raised.
They convey that the Oriventh Empire and Seylora Theocracy have always had pretty good relations because of their ancestors always being pretty good friends, which none of us knew about. Good the secret is out. I nervously take a bite of egg.
Thank goodness the Kingdom of Tarondar never got into a scuffle with the Theocracy because it sounds like they are protected by the Oriventh Empire as well. At least in this situation, it works to the Glozaria's Alliance's benefit. We all laugh and get to know each other.
The Divine One seems like a pretty nice person.
After exchanging more pleasantries, breakfast time ends. We all then get to work helping coordinate the forces that The Divine One brought with her to the Grand Duchy of Pedgas. The Pedgas Castle can only hold so many people, so we get to work on transforming some of the nearby vacant buildings into military bases.
It takes a while, but eventually we get there.
Ivy and I are sweating from all the physical work involved, and our mana is draining from helping construct things so fast. Some magic knights bring us cold towels to make sure we don't get too hot out in the heat. They also bring some water for us. Thank goodness.
The cold water feels so good as I take several large sips.
We soon finish and make our way back to Pedgas Castle. We run into the Emperor again in one of the hallways. We are about to pass each other until I grab his attention. Ivy stops alongside me.
"Hey Hadrian the III, I'm just curious if you know the answer to this. What makes The Divine One exactly The Divine One? I mean, not just in terms of bloodline, but is it a certain trait or something?"
The Emperor takes my question seriously and smiles.
"The Divine One is a special mage with a gift to see into the future. Not super far into the future, and it can occur moments before it happens, so it's not extremely powerful. However, in some important moments it can cause miracles. That's why all the Seylora citizens slash followers respect and follow The Divine One. It is a unique trait that is passed down by bloodline."
Ivy and I look at each other in amazement. That's something not even I could do.
"Thank you for letting us know. We were just curious."
I smile as I give my thanks to the Emperor. Before we could leave, Hadrian the III stops us and tells me that once the war is over, that this castle is now mine as well. I smile and say thank you when my insides are telling me I have to be responsible for another castle.
We walk away from the Emperor and wave goodbye. For the next couple of hours, we walk all around the castle. If I am going to own this potentially one day, I might as well know all of it. We then make a full circle and decide to go into the main castle's lounge. The majority of my friends are there just chilling out.
The cushion feels so soft, I say to myself as I practically melt into the cushion with Ivy next to me.
My rest is short-lived as the Emperor, The Divine One, and King Grey walk into the living room. Everything seems fine as I watch them talk. Then I watch as The Divine One's eyes start turning different shades of color as she speaks words in a booming voice.
"I feel something. A pulse. It's hollow. The sky will burn soon."
