Chapter 1273: Reckoning-3

"Since you want to know why we do what we do, I will not hide it from you." Samara said as she kneeled down in defeat knowing she was no match for him.

" You suddenly became so submissive. Can I take this as one of your scemes too?" Samuel let her go sitting back down.

There was nothing she could do to him so he was prepared to have his time with her. It didn't matter of she died now or few hours later.

"Don't mistake my temporary compliance to submission. I can see that you have some secret which is why I am telling you this not to garner your pity."

"Pity? That's rich coming from you. How many innocent lives have you sacrificed for your selfish dreams? Don't forget I know what you have be upto!" He slammed the table cracking it in half.

His cold stare was enough to melt steel. He couldn't even began to understand the pain and suffering she had inflicted on her victims. Thousands of innocent young girls sacrificed for her search for perfect vishkanyas. It was written in intricate detail in the ledgers he just read.

"They were just the means to an end but now...I think it was all in vain." She looked at him like she was looking at a monster. It was clear he had someway to neutralize their poison which was practically a death sentence for people like her.

It was clear, even if she managed to make the perfect host there would be no telling of they would aid in war against their enemy. If even someone like him could procure antidotes for their most venomous serum, what's to say their real enemy have not already produced something similar?

"Forget it. You want to know about the missing journelw, I will tell you about it but I hope you can grant me my requests-"

"You dare plead for your life-"

"When did I ever say I want you to forgive me? It might come as a surprise but I am not as greedy for my life as you imagine."

Samuel was silent for a second not knowing if she was telling the truth. He always thought her as the more vile villain that need abolishing but looking at the woman who seemed to have aged several decades, she didn't look like the heinous villainess he was expecting her to be.

"The only reason for what I did what I did is simple- revenge!" She said with red eyes. She seemed to be remembering something from the past but her whole demeanor shifted to one that was burning woth hatred something he had never seen before.

"Long before you and me, even before the civil war when our forces were permeated throughout several continents, there lived a powerful Vishkanya."

She began to tell some ancient story about one of their most prominent elder. A majestic figure who ruled their clans several centuries ago bringing wealth and prosperity through her governence.

Kali, she called her was a renowned figure among them who was said to gain full enlightenment and had became perfect specimen with special poison body. But the reason why she was famous had more to do with her ways to recruit new disciples through stringent process whcih achieved zero fatality rate.

The texts are not clear how she achieved this but through this method, she was able to increase their forces exponentially which made them enter a golden age where they ruled not by fear but through compassion and dedication not to mention they were revered as godesses among the populace for some time.

Relying on her might she invented cure for many diseases which also advancing the status of opposite sex in the eyes of people. Many of later generation elders came from inner students that she took in at that time.

"Everything was going according yo her blessings but some people began to took notice of our growing influence. From kings to nations would invite our people to help them which made them have prestige more prominent than many ruling class. That's when the disaster struck."

Kali was a graceful leader always helping others but some people ultimately betrayed her and the most relevant party was the same mysterious organization that he was hunting.

They classified them as heretic and stated that their unconventional ways was due to their supernatural powers. People at that time were not used to seeing someone use poison to cure illness not to mention people will die of they even tried to touch these Vishkanyas or get too close to them.

It was a perfect excuse for them to launch a deadly assault against them. The people they once helped turned against them due to greed. No matter how large their population was at that time, they wouldn't be able to resist the combined siege of several nations on their own.

Beside it was much easier for anyone to identify them due to their weird body, one touch was enough to poison others which was labelled as them cursing them maliciously.

"I think everyone know what they called it. The Witch trials, something they conjured up aling with the church to get rid of us. More than ninety percent of our clan members were slaughtered like animals just because we tried to help them."

Samuel was silent as pieces of the puzzel began to fall in place. She concluded by saying how Kali sacrificed herself for the betterment of the clan and was burned alive for her crimes.

It gave them a window to migrate to less populated region and other parts of asia. Their leader had sacrificed herself just so they could live on all because of that mysterious organization that was pulling strings from the shadows.

Samara only hoped to recreate her legacy but even after decades of experiments, she had not made any breakthrough.

By now, she had her head down fighting hard to hide her tears. It was clear she was too passionate about her cause but in his eyes, it didn't excuse the crimes she committed against others no matter what they suffered in the past. It was no better than a brainwashed person believing his actions now could do anything to change the past tragedies!
