Hokage: I Traveled Through Time With The Tenseigan

Chapter 94: Chapter 93 Third Hokage: I Can’T Command Anbu Now?

Even though Tsunade didn't control Anbu for long, and even though it was not appropriate to reorganize Anbu during the war, when Tsunade came to power and became the Minister of Anbu, she implemented some new regulations.

For instance, when Anbu performs an important task, they need to report to her, the minister, even if the task originates from the Hokage office. Consequently, Anbu's personnel approached Tsunade in a roundabout way.

After understanding the mission's cause, Tsunade decisively said:

"Refuse to carry out this mission. During wartime, every team in Anbu has critical tasks. If the Hyuga clan members are missing, let them conduct their own investigation!"

"This....."

The Hokage had instructed them to proceed immediately and carry out the mission. However, the minister had told them to refuse and let the Hyuga clan investigate on their own. The Anbu team, already prepared to depart, was now confused.

They didn't know whom to obey.

"I am the minister of Anbu. If anyone dares to leave the village without following orders, I will kick them out of Anbu."

Tsunade slapped the table forcefully, startling the Anbu members so much that their hearts skipped a beat.

Working for Anbu is a source of pride for the Konoha ninjas. Being expelled would be a disgrace.

As a result, the investigation mission fell through.

The Third Hokage believed that the Anbu team had been dispatched, but due to Tsunade's order, the Anbu team dared not move, resulting in a stalemate.

By the time the Third Hokage realized what had happened, ten days to half a month had passed. Had the leader of the Hyuga clan not visited the Hokage's office, the Third Hokage might have remained oblivious.

Anbu hadn't taken action?

Upon hearing this news, the Third Hokage almost couldn't breathe.

In the Hokage's office, the Third Hokage's beard trembled with fury.

The Hyuga clan leader beside him looked very displeased.

For the Third Hokage, the family had sent a clan member and a branch house guard to the border camp, but there had been no news of their journey.

The branch house's escort team had vanished, and crucially, the clan members were missing too!!

The most frustrating part was that there had been no response from the Hokage's office.

Why was this happening? The Hyuga clan had been working for the Third Hokage, even sending out clan members. Now that there was no news, and it was unknown whether they were missing or dead, there had been no response from the Hokage office. Was this reasonable?

"You disobey me?"

The Third Hokage's lungs were nearly bursting with anger.

He felt as if he had completely lost face. If he knew the news privately, he wouldn't be so angry. The key was that the Hyuga clan leader was present.

He had promised to dispatch Anbu's people to investigate.

However, when he called Anbu's people over and inquired, he discovered that Anbu had not been dispatched at all.

His face turned red with embarrassment.

The Third Hokage's face burned with humiliation, while Anbu's ninja felt aggrieved. He looked up, glanced at the expressionless Hyuga clan leader, and said softly:

"Sir Hokage, Anbu naturally does not dare to disobey orders, but the minister said that the Hyuga clan members are missing, so let them investigate themselves. She also said that anyone who dares to carry out this task will be kicked out of Anbu."

It's not that we are disobedient, but that we dare not.

With the Hokage on one side and the Buchou on the other, we were caught in a dilemma. It was extremely uncomfortable.

Head of the Hyuga clan: "....."

Third Hokage: "..."

It turned out that Anbu was not disobedient, but Tsunade didn't allow Anbu to perform this task. Anyone who dared to disobey would be expelled from Anbu.

Now that the words had been spoken, who would dare to carry out the mission?

Because Shigeru had been treated coldly by her family, Tsunade really didn't have a good impression of the Hyuga clan, and her original words were rather unpleasant.

"This is nonsense!!"

The Third Hokage slapped the table angrily: "I am the Hokage!!!"

Of course, you are Hokage, but we, Anbu, have a minister blocking us. What can we do?

If you are unhappy, go find the minister, but don't get angry with us. It's uncomfortable enough to be caught in the middle, and we have to act as a doormat.

Nobody would be happy in such a situation.

Anbu's man lowered his head and stopped talking. He decided to remain transparent to avoid unnecessary suffering.

Besides, the minister was right. If the Hyuga clan is missing, let them investigate on their own. Why should Anbu be mobilized? During the war, Anbu's tasks were already busy.

"You..." Seeing that the other party chose to remain silent, the Third Hokage was so angry that he couldn't speak.

He finally understood.

Anbu was no longer the Anbu it used to be. With Tsunade as the minister, all tasks needed to go through her. Once Tsunade blocked something, Anbu couldn't move out at will.

This was incredibly frustrating!

The troops directly under the Hokage couldn't be mobilized by the Hokage himself.

However, all of this was his own doing. The thought of having changed his decision to compensate Koharu and turning Anbu into what it is today filled the Third Hokage with regret.

If he had been more ruthless and suppressed the noisy Koharu, he wouldn't have reached this stage today.

At this point, the Third Hokage was stuck, unable to move forward or backward.

"Forget it, please leave first."

The Third Hokage waved his hand, and Anbu's ninjas quickly evacuated. They didn't want to stay there for another second; it was too uncomfortable.

After Anbu's people left, the leader of the Hyuga clan spoke: "Master Hokage, you need to explain this matter to the family. Something happened to someone in the clan, and it has a great impact on the family."

The leader of the Hyuga clan wouldn't feel bad if a group from the branch house died, let alone a small team, but the clan was different.

There are only so many people in the Zong family, and the death of any one of them would be a significant loss.

The most important thing is that they lost their eyes.

If the Byakugan escapes... the Hyuga clan leader becomes numb when he thinks of the consequences.

So the Third Hokage must give him an explanation.

After all, the Hyuga clan was working for him.

"I will give you an explanation. Please give me some time." At this time, he had to find a way to appease the Hyuga clan leader.

Anbu was unreliable, so he could only mobilize other forces to investigate.

In fact, the best solution would be to directly order Nara Luxin to seal off the camp for investigation.

But some things cannot be brought to light and can only be investigated discreetly.

With Anbu unreliable, the Third Hokage chose to use the power of the family.

Mobilizing the family's ninjas to perform tasks requires taking certain risks and dealing with some troubles.

Anbu's ninjas only care about whether they can complete the task and don't concern themselves with anything else. This is something family ninjas cannot compete with. Secondly, when Anbu's people go out to perform tasks, everyone in the village is required to cooperate.

Because this is Anbu's unique right.

Anbu has such a right, but the ninjas of the Sarutobi clan do not, so they can only think of other ways.

Recognizing the differences, the Third Hokage regretted it even more.
