Hero or Villain, Both

Once the Spirit Kings received this acknowledgement, they did what they wanted to do.

The figures of the Spirit Kings seemed to become more faint, as if there was something that was taking their energy.

At the same time, it seemed like there was energy that was condensing on the spirit fragments from the Spirit Kings.

After a while, the same voice said, "Have them absorb these spirit fragments, that will give them the chance to become stronger."

The voices of the Spirit Kings rang out one last time before disappearing.

The only things that were left were the glowing spirit fragments.

It was clear which one was for which with the different coloured glows that were around these spirit fragments.

The one that was glowing red was for Pyro.

The one that was glowing green was for Aero.

But I didn't have the two of them take it right away as I looked over at Sylpha.

Seeing the way that I looked at her, she just shook her head and said, "I don't know anything about this. I might have met a Spirit King before, but it was only in passing and I didn't get to really talk to them. All I did was meet them and learn a few things about spirits from them. It could even be said that they were patronizing me since I was still young back then."

By the end of it, it was as if she was admitting a dark past of hers with the way that she said this.

I couldn't help shaking my head with a faint smile hearing this before turning back to look at the two glowing spirit fragments.

After a moment of silence, I finally said, "I'll leave the decision up to you two. If you want to do it, then do it. If you don't, then don't worry."

As soon as they heard this, Pyro and Aero didn't hesitate to go forward to absorb the glowing spirit fragments.

A bitter smile appeared on my face as I muttered, "So I was just holding you back, huh?"

But since this was the decision that the two of them made, I would support them to the end.

I didn't say anything as I waited to see what would happen to the two of them.

After they made contact with the spirit fragments, it was as if the power that was inside of the spirit fragments was transferred over to Pyro and Aero. The light that had been around the spirit fragments went right into Pyro and Aero.

After the light entered their bodies, it also seemed like there was something that changed with Pyro and Aero.

The two of them seemed to shut down completely as they floated down to the ground while the light surrounded the two of them. It seemed like they were currently absorbing the power that they had gotten from the spirit fragments.

It didn't seem like their figures were about to change since they remained the same.

But after a while, it seemed like both Pyro and Aero were starting to get bigger.

It was as if as their power swelled, their bodies responded in kind.

It didn't take long before they actually took human forms, though it was still faint and it didn't seem like they were adults.

The human forms that they took were the form of children.

This continued on for a while longer before finally they had finished absorbing the power of the spirit fragments and opened their eyes.

The moment that they finished absorbing the power of the spirit fragment, the first thing that they did was turn around to look at me.

With the looks on their faces, it was as if they were asking…

"Are you proud of us?"

I didn't say anything at first as I looked at the two of them with a smile on my face.

That was because I already knew that they had succeeded long before they had turned around to look at me.

To make sure that nothing happened to them, I had been watching the status screen the entire time. The status screen would have told me immediately if something had happened to the two of them, so I had been cautious the entire time.

Once they finished transforming, I was curious what kind of power that the two of them possessed.

After all, they had turned into High Grade Spirits after absorbing the spirit fragments.

There was no doubt that there would be a difference in power between a Medium Grade Spirit and a High Grade Spirit. I knew that this was the case from what I had seen in the game.

It was just that the stats in the game were nothing more than numbers on the screen.

The abilities that could be used with a High Grade Spirit cost more mana and dealt more damage, but that didn't really tell me just how strong they were.

It was the kind of thing that one had to test themselves if they wanted to know how strong they were now.

But before that could happen…

The spirit fragments had decreased in size after having the power inside of them be absorbed by Pyro and Aero, but they didn't completely disappear.

There was still a faint light that came from the spirit fragments before two figures appeared again. But this time, the two figures were much smaller than before.

These two figures seemed like miniature versions of the figures that had appeared previously.

These were naturally the figures of the two Spirit Kings.

But even if they were smaller, they were still Spirit Kings that commanded respect.

The two Spirit Kings didn't say anything as the two of them just floated there.

However, it was clear that they were focused on Pyro and Aero.

"Not bad, it seems like they were quite talented that these two were able to evolve into High Grade Spirits."

Finally the Spirit Kings praised Pyro and Aero.

After praising them, they turned to me to say, "Also, it doesn't seem like you're living up to your full potential."
