The valley lay still, the blizzard howl muted after Adam's devastating strike.

Where the colossal slug once loomed, only a scattering of crystalline ash remained, swirling into the frost-choked air.

The five students stood frozen, not by the cold but by awe, their gazes fixed at the approaching figure who had obliterated the monstrous threat with a single attack of some kind.

As Adam approaches, he soon lowered his finger, the faint glow of his own Monster Energy fading from his hand.

His cape, emblazoned with his family crest, billowed slightly as he brushed frost from his brow, unfazed by the biting chill.

Meanwhile Priscilla, his blade, hummed faintly in his grip, sated by the cryokinetic essence it had absorbed.

Adam's sharp eyes flicked toward the group, noting their tattered uniforms and the academy crests matching his own.

His eyes meet the group of students.

But his form was hard to see especially with how thick the snow.

Causing one of them to call him

"Um, who are you?"

Lena, asked, a little worried that the approaching savior might attack then next, as such she demanded to know who approaches them.

Her voice a combination of subtle curiosity and suspicion.

After can you blame them... They struggle to kill even a couple of those thing, a task that proves almost impossible without prep time when the fuse.

Her staff glowed faintly, embers flickering as she gripped it tighter, ready to reignite at a moment's notice.

However it was Kai, who realize who it was her eyes widening with surprised.

The other students stem in, but when he came into visual sight they arc thier brows in shock.

Kai, soon began to spoke, as the other went silent.

As commoner's they didn't want to start trouble with High Noble like Adam.

Still she tried to speak for the group as she stepped forward, her eyes wide but sharp.

As she appeal to Adams capabilities.

"Thanks alot Prez, that thing was a whole lot stronger when fuse together. Yet you took down that thing like it was nothing. We've been fighting these slugs for days, and we couldn't even dent the big ones."

She said to Adam, who responded back to her with.

"It's alright, besides, with more practice, and training I am sure you all will be able to do what I just did."

Adam replied, shrugging right after.

"Your words honor my Prez."

Lena jumped in, meanwhile Adam suddenly went silent as he looked eastward.

"Hmmm."

He groaned in suprise, as he scanned the horizon, sensing the faint tremors of more slugs burrowing beneath the ice.

"It would seem more is on its way."

Adam whispered to himself, but didn't say anything about it.

Rather his attention was shifted when he heard the voice of a young man.

It was Jax, and he staggered to his feet, clutching his frostbitten arm, as he approach Adam from.the front.

He was clearly injured, but very thankful as well.

As he asked.

"You're really the president?"

He asked, his gruff voice tinged with disbelief.

"We heard stories about you...they say you fought and kill alot of those Cultist bastards that being staining the Sector over the past decade."

"I am a really big fang... If it weren't for you and the elite squad you made, I wouldn't be here today. Your people once save my me, my mom, and my dad from being killed by demons when I was I kid."

"Ever since, I always wanted to become a Hunter like you, and the other members of the council."

Adam looked at the smiling Jax, glancing at the academy crest on his sleeve.

He could sense Astrum inside this one, meaning he was a magic user.

Still he remain compose as he said

"You guys aside, have you all found any other students as of yet? Or have you been free roaming like myself."

Jax was the one to speak up.

"No, to be honest, this place was really dangerous. But a lot of us student manage to find each other. Since our chance's of survival increase when we are together. In the past seven days we even built a base."

"But seeing we also need to collect point to pass alongside surviving the 32 days, we go out to hunt."

"Base ha, is it close?!"

Adam asked to which Kai nodded.

"About 5 miles Southwest of here according to our bracelets."

"I see, I definitely pass there then."

But what Lena said next kind of surprised him.

"We plan on going back, but we can't."

"Why so."

"Well it's because we are being chase, when we went on our daily hunting, we got attack by one of those slugs. But the thing is, it was different from the normal ones."

This news intrigued Adam, as such, he began to ponder for more.

"A different slug you say, how different are we talking about here."

"It wasn't just a slug."

Lena said, her voice dropping to a hushed, urgent tone as her grip tightened on her staff.

"It was… humanoid looking. Tall, maybe seven feet, with a body made up or I think an exoskeleton of extremely hard ice, but it moved like a superhuman. Its arms were too long, ending in these jagged claws that pulsed with similar cold energy as these guys. And weirdest of all, it was using magic. Real magic, not just instinctual bursts like the others. It cast barriers, froze our attacks mid-air, even redirected Finn's arrows back at us. I think it has contract other than base Elemental Spirits."

Kai nodded, her braids swaying as she shivered, not entirely from the cold.

But just remembering what she ran into earlier made cold seed travel up her back.

"It killed half our squad before we could retreat. Eight of us, gone in minutes. It was clear that thing was hunting us. I was even convince it was toying with us, as it learnt how we fought. We've been running ever since, trying to lose it, but it keeps finding us."

Adam's eyes narrowed, his interest piqued even more than it was before.

"A humanoid slug wielding magic? That seem very interesting."

Adam said, as he mentally note to himself.

'I wonder if I find that thing, it could potentially give me clues on how to locate the HIVE. And destroy it while I am here as well.'

But he had more questions, as such he asked.

"Did it speak?"

Jax shook his head, wincing as held his had tighter.

"No words, but… it looked at us. Like it was sizing us up. Its eyes...three of 'em, where glowing blue, it felt like they were boring into your soul. I've never seen anything like it, Prez... But that thing is clearly intelligent, even more so than the normal ones."

Taro, clutching his glowing hammer, spoke up.

"It's why we can't go back to the base. That thing was stalking us, or rather everyone there. Every time we try to head southwest, more slugs cut us off, like it's herding us."

Finn, still catching his breath, added.

"Yeah, they are clearly trying to pick us out one by one. We hit it with everything we had, and it barely flinched. If you hadn't shown up, Prez, we would be dead already. Hence the reason why there so much of these things around us."

"I see...

Adam replied, as he continue with another question.

"This humanoid...did you see where it went?"

Lena pointed toward the mountains, their peaks shrouded in swirling storm clouds.

"Last we saw, it vanished into the ice caves up there. But the slugs keep coming from that direction, thicker than anywhere else. If you're looking for it, it in those caves you probably find it."

But he got the information he needed, with that he looked at the group a said.

"...Well thank you, ahhh but before I go, take this as a thank you from me."
