That has been the only thing he ha seen hearing as of lately.
With each kill he gets stronger as a result of his prologue aspect.
A week had passed since Adam arrived on this desolate, frost-choked world, a relentless cycle of slaughter against the cryo-slugs that plagued its icy expanse. Hundreds of thousands had fallen to his blade already, their crystalline forms reduced to ash and vapor by Priscilla's insatiable hunger.
The quantum mites embedded in his blood acted on his behalf to empower him beyond normal the entire time.
To his advantage of course, his seals where for the most part unbroken.
As the aid of new gen teach did a good job in sharpening his senses to a great degree.
Day after day, he carved through the endless swarms, noting their hive-mind tactics.
He was sure, he was getting to the main source, given that the wave where getting larger and more coordinated.
As a result during combat he has to prob for weaknesses to deal with their insane number, retreating only to regroup and strike again.
Yet, for all his kills, the heart of their hive remained a mystery...no central brain, no queen, just a relentless, mindless tide of aggression.
"Ha, it has to be nearby, whenever I come around these mountains, it seems to be here that the waves are always the highest."
Today was no exception.
As pale light of cold and dark Aurora filtered through the eternal blizzard, two slugs slithered from the snowdrifts, their translucent bodies glowing with cryokinetic energy.
Adam sighed, almost bored, as he takes Priscilla in hand to attack once more. And with a casual flick, arching the blade as he maneuver and hit, he sliced through the first slug's tendrils, absorbing its cryogenic blast into Priscilla's core.
The energy fueled a piercing thrust that impaled the second slug's spirit core, unraveling its magical essence in an instant. Both creatures collapsed, their bodies crumbling.
"This is starting to get repetitive."
Adam muttered, brushing frost from his brow. He scanned the horizon, expecting another wave, when a chorus of desperate shouts cut through the howling wind...human voices it would seem, raw with panic.
His curiosity stirred.
He hadn't seen another soul since the teleportation.
So with a powerful leap, he vaulted over an icy ridge, landing on a vantage point overlooking a shallow valley shrouded in swirling snow.
There, amidst the frozen chaos, five figures fought for survival against a writhing swarm of slugs.
Their tattered uniforms, emblazoned with the crest of his academy, marked them as fellow students, barely out of their teens.
Two girls and three boys, their faces etched with exhaustion and resolve, wielded a mix of makeshift weapons and rudimentary magic in a desperate stand against the encroaching horde.
"Commoner's eh?!" You wouldn't catch a noble dead with such cheat looking weapon."
Adam bluntly said, as he looked ahead, analyzing the situation from where he crept.
The taller girl, her short-cropped hair dusted with frost, gripped a glowing staff that pulsed with arcane energy.
"Ohhh that seem be from a religion of some kind, using a Divine Archane is always a marvelous sight, still I wonder which religion she serves under?"
She unleashed a barrage of firebolts, each one sizzling against the slugs icy hides, leaving scorch marks but failing to pierce their cores.
"Hold the line, Kai"
She shouted, her voice hoarse as she sidestepped a lashing tendril, her movements precise despite the biting cold.
Beside her, a slender girl with long braids woven with beads of crystal channeled gusts of wind, her hands weaving intricate patterns in the air.
"Like the girl beside her, she also uses the power of a Mysterious Archane system."
Base of what little Adam was seeing, the power bestowed by this system of divinity as she chant similar mantra as the girl.
Was mostly elemental.
As she create a waves of multiple blades, spears, and blunt pressurized attack of wind and compress air.
The attacks cut through the hoard.
Smashed two at once, and pierce right through of the slugs core, both at once. This attack packing a heavy punch than the firebolts.
"There is too many, Lena!"
The wind casting girl cried, her voice trembling as she redirected a slug's icicle barrage, the projectiles shattering against her wind barrier.
And her Archane faltered under the strain, sweat freezing on her brow.
The three boys formed a ragged defensive line. The stockiest, broad-shouldered and grim-faced, stomped the ground, summoning jagged barriers of rock that shuddered under the slugs cryogenic assaults.
Eyes of The World dictating the uses of an Earth type Lore Ability.
The rocks where recreate after being destroyed, and reinforce with every collapse it experience.
Meanwhile another, lanky and sharp-eyed boy, conjured a bow of shimmering energy, firing arrows that pierced the slugs eye clusters but missed their vital cores.
And the third, a burly frontline fighter, swung an enchanted hammer that glowed with Nature Astrum, clearly a magic weapon user, as he was smashing through the slugs multiple tendrils but wincing as frostbite crept up his arms from each glancing blow.
And if not with assistant of the Nanomites constant recovery, he would long lost his hands.
"They have good coordination, but they are he heavily lacking in experience as power altogther. Not much you can do with such little lethality against creature like these."
Adam commented as he looks on.
The fight itself being a tad bit one sided.
As a slug lunged at the hammer-wielder, its maw splitting to reveal a vortex of frost-teeth that spewed a cryogenic blast.
He roared, swinging his hammer in a brutal arc that cracked the creature's ice shell armor around it's body, sending shards flying. But two more flanked him, their tendrils wrapping around his legs, freezing the flesh beneath his torn uniform.
"Get off me!"
He bellowed, shattering one with an overhead smash that shook the ground, but the other burrowed beneath the ice, erupting in a burst of spikes that grazed his side, drawing blood that froze instantly.
Lena, the fire wielder spun on her heel, her staff blazing as she unleashed an arc of flame that melted the ambusher's tendrils, giving her ally a moment to stagger back.
"Taro, fall back!"
She ordered, her voice cutting through the storm. Kai, the other girl amplified the flames with a powerful gust, transforming the fire into a roaring inferno that engulfed a smaller slug, its spirit core shrieking as it dissolved into mist.
The stocky boy, Jax, slammed his foot down, raising a towering wall of stone to block a volley of icicles aimed at their group archer, Finn.
He was the quick support to the group, his lore ability being probably the most versatile among the group.
His arrows had a series of diverse effects.
Healing, defense, illusion, basically different stats he can induced within his arrow heads.
However creating these effects, and inducing them took a lot out of him.
Evidence of this was his tired panting.
"They're merging again!"
He warned, his voice strained as Jax barrier cracked under the relentless assault.
Finn loosed three energy arrows in rapid succession, each one striking a slug's weak point with deadly precision, and the moment they land, and sink into flesh.
They create flesh wounds.
Massive, and deep, as each one that he makes, cause a bleeding effect on the target.
Further weakening the body more.
But the swarm only grew, their numbers swelling to a dozen, their movements eerily synchronized.
The students fought with desperate valor.
As Taro charged forward, his hammer glowing brighter as he infused it with his own Astrum, swinging in a whirlwind of destruction that pulverized two slugs into glittering fragments.
Lena and Kai wove their divinity in tandem, fire and wind merging into a scorching tornado that roared through the battlefield, consuming three more slugs in a blaze of light and heat, their spirits wailing as they unraveled.
Jax anchored the defense, his stone barriers absorbing blast after blast, while Finn picked off stragglers with pinpoint shots, his conjured bow brimming with power.
But the slugs were unrelenting, their hive-mind adapting with terrifying speed.
As they attack, the slugs adapt.
As the students stamina waned, their breaths coming in ragged, frosted gasps, the remaining creatures pulsed in unison, their translucent bodies rippling with cryokinetic energy.
Tendrils intertwined with sickening cracks, their forms merging into a grotesque abomination, a towering monolith of ice and flesh, its multi-headed bulk looming like a frozen titan.
Spines as thick as ancient oak trees jutted from its sides, and its collective power plunged the temperature to lethal depths, frost webbing across the students skin, slowing their movements to a crawl.
Jax's barrier shattered once more under a single, massive tendril lash, the impact sending him sprawling.
The giant size tendril packing a serious punch.
"We're done for."
He gasped, clutching his frostbitten arm as the ground trembled beneath the behemoth's advance.
The group stumbled back, huddling together, their faces pale with dread. The colossal slug reared up, its vortex maws swirling with apocalyptic fury, ready to crush them into frozen oblivion.
"Hmmm, maybe I can help a little...
Adam said as he casually raised a single finger, as he chanel a bit of his Monster Energy at its tip.
He then pointed it forward towards the alien beast.
Then a flash of red and black energy erupted, and as it did.
A massive blast tear it's way forward towards the giant slug, the air ignited as the energy manifested into a concentrated beam that literally melt the rocks and snow instantly.
And to everyone's surprise, the creature entire body was engulfed as the blast made by Adam utterly atomize it.
