Chapter 5: Chapter 5 Not polluted?
Chino silently took out his cellphone and made a call.
"Kassel, the job is done. I'll return to the tavern in about two hours. I've also settled the final payment and added an extra five hundred thousand. Everything's in order."
As Chino ended the call, Wade's face lit up with excitement. Unable to contain his joy, he cheered.
"Boss, you're truly generous! Logan, I brought you a big job, so we're heading back to the bar later to celebrate."
"I don't mind having a drink," Logan replied, his happiness evident. It was the first time he had held so much money in his hands.
The three of them moved quickly and reached the tavern in an hour and a half.
At the entrance, Kassel, the housekeeper, greeted them with a slight bow.
"Welcome back, young master."
"Find us a private room, Kassel."
Once inside, Logan dramatically ordered a bottle of wine. As he uncorked the whiskey, the bottle tilted, and the liquid flowed down the edges of his lips.
"Alright, let's get to it. Tell me what I need to know."
In front of Chino sat a cup of chocolate milk. He tilted his head slightly before wiping the rim of the cup.
"This is delicious. I like it."
"James—that is your real name. Logan is the name you chose later."
"James?" Logan furrowed his brows slightly. He had never heard that name before, yet it felt strangely familiar.
From his name to his participation in wars, his connections with Sabretooth and Silver Fox, and ultimately his involvement in the Weapon X project—all of it led to this moment.
"My memory loss... it's all because of Colonel Stryker."
Logan stared at Chino with unwavering eyes, not doubting the information one bit. There was too much to process, but verifying it would be easy.
"Logan, you've suffered. Torture, fighting your own brother to the death… But the name Stryker sounds familiar. Ah, now I remember! A few years ago, that colonel tried to recruit me into his unit. I refused because I was in love with Vanessa at the time."
Wade clicked his tongue, giving Logan a sympathetic look. He clinked his glass and, as if recalling something, his expression suddenly changed.
Chino thought to himself—this was the reason why the two had never crossed paths before.
"How can we find Stryker?"
Logan clenched his bottle in anger, crushing it as a murderous intent filled his eyes. His teeth ground together audibly.
"Logan, you underestimate me too much. I know many things, but I don't hide everything, nor am I omniscient."
Seeing Logan lower his head in disappointment, Chino thought for a moment before speaking again.
"However, since his goal is the eradication of all mutants, you can go to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, which was founded by Professor X. Wait there, and he will come."
"Professor X?"
Chino nodded, his expression serious. "Right now, mutants are divided into two factions—the Masters and the War Clan. Professor X leads the Masters, while the War Clan has a different leader. I won't recommend you to the War Clan."
"Why not?" Logan asked.
"Because the leader of the War Clan is Magneto—the one who can control metal."
Logan stopped talking, poured himself another glass of whiskey, and drank in silence.
"Boss, do you have any other high-paying intel?"
Wade had realized that Chino was incredibly mysterious, possessing a vast amount of secret information. It was almost as if he had insight into military plans themselves.
"How much money can you access right now?"
"With everything you just gave me, about two million dollars."
"That's too little."
Wade's face darkened. In a place like New York, where every inch of land was valuable, saving even five hundred thousand dollars was considered impressive.
"Buy as many shares in Stark Industries as you can."
"Boss… are you saying Stark isn't dead?"
Tony Stark—the whole world knew his name. Whether it was his genius mind or his extravagant lifestyle, people envied him.
"He won't die so easily. But whether he lives or dies depends on you," Chino said, sipping his chocolate milk.
"Boss, I've always trusted you!"
Without hesitation, Wade pulled out his phone and started making calls to stock brokers. Logan, sitting beside him, repeatedly glanced over, contemplating whether he should invest as well.
Chino observed Wade's excitement but chose to remain silent about the topic of cancer.
It might seem like he had access to special intelligence sources, but in truth, he simply knew the future.
However, Chino also recalled something from the comics—Deadpool was actually the second host of Venom. It was under his influence that Venom later became a chaotic and sinister entity.
With that thought, he asked internally:
"Venom, how many hosts have you had before me?"
"None. You are my first host. Though there are many origins of me in your mind, I have only existed on the Symbiote Homeworld before this. Why do you ask?"
That's great.
"What's great about it?" Venom sounded confused.
"It means I'm your first host. That means you haven't been corrupted yet."
Chino took another sip of his chocolate milk. This also meant Venom's personality would be shaped by him.
"Not corrupted? Do you really think you're some kind of saint? Haha, you naive fool. You, my friend, are more twisted than you realize."
"Pfft—!"
Chino nearly choked, spitting out his milk. He coughed several times, shocked that Venom could access even those kinds of memories.
Meanwhile, Wade and Logan were still arguing over their drinks when, without warning, they were both splashed in the face.
"Boss?!"
"Damn it, kid!"
Chino looked at their blackened expressions and smiled awkwardly.
"Sorry about that. My bad. I'll cover the cost of today's drinks."
Immediately, Wade and Logan went back to fighting over the wine.
"You can blame me all you want, but remember—I'm an alien. Besides…"
Enough! Just say whatever you want.
Chino sighed, already getting used to Venom's sarcastic remarks.
"We need to go somewhere… and find something."
Venom's voice was slightly confused. Ever since they left the research facility, he had felt something calling to him from afar.
Where? Find what?
Chino felt uneasy since this had nothing to do with the main storyline.
"I don't know, but it's important."
How are we supposed to go somewhere when you don't even know what you're looking for?
Using a world map from the tavern, Chino let Venom guide him in identifying the direction. Eventually, they pinpointed a location.
Here?
"It should be."
Venom wasn't entirely certain, but he knew the direction was right.
Chino stared at the map. The location was the Sahara Desert—the same place where Iron Man had been kidnapped.
A mere coincidence?
"If we extract Wolverine's healing factor and inject it into your body, then even without me, you won't die."
Venom sensed something was off. There was something very important waiting for them out there.
