Chapter 4: Chapter 4 Venom
Venom's Awakening
"Based on the so-called movie in your head, this is for me..."
"Stop licking me. You know I'm clean, right?"
Chino smacked his face as Venom licked him.
"Oh, my apologies, it's just—"
Venom instinctively apologized but noticed Chino's amused gaze.
"You guys really think you can fool me, huh?"
"Agh, it's so itchy. I was wrong, okay?"
Before Venom could continue, Chino quickly begged for mercy.
As expected, even if a symbiote retains past memories, its personality is influenced by the current host.
That's why, from the moment they met, the two could engage in battle without any hesitation.
"Venom, will you defeat me?"
"Impossible."
"I'll provide you with gaming consoles, chocolate, and even take you on scenic trips. Work with me, please?"
"Fine. It depends on your sincerity."
Venom merged back into Chino's body, and instantly, darkness swallowed his vision.
Chaos in the Dark
The first sense to recover was hearing.
Loud gunfire rang out.
"When is this kid going to wake up? If he doesn't, we're stuck here."
"I have no idea. I never expected to find mutants here. If the boss hadn't called me an idol just now, I would've left. FK."
"Wade, check on him. See if we can leave quickly."
"Alright, leave it to me."
Just then, Logan's scream echoed through the space, followed by the sound of sharp claws slicing through flesh.
"Wade, you're hurt."
As Chino opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a wound on Wade's shoulder.
"Boss, you finally woke up. Since I got injured on the job, you're paying for my medical expenses."
Ah, the medical bills in New York had begun.
Chino stood up and scanned his surroundings. They were still inside the laboratory, and the containers still had TNT attached to them.
"Wade, give me a status update."
"Okay, the moment Boss stepped outside, you blacked out. The Life Foundation hired three mutants and a group of armed guards for security.
If we weren't worried about them setting off the explosives, we'd all be dead by now—and Logan wouldn't have had to fight so hard."
Wade twirled the battered steel knife in his hand. If those three mutants hadn't been there, he could've easily taken out the guards with his own skills.
At that moment, Logan crashed into a wall with a loud thud. His body, riddled with bullet holes, began healing instantly as his muscles pushed out the bullets.
"Oh, so you're finally awake?"
"Yeah, good thing you didn't leave me behind."
Chino felt slightly touched. Considering Logan's abilities, Wade could have left, but not many people could actually stop him from doing so.
"In the end, the boss calls me an idol."
"Hmph, kid. You took on this job knowing that merging with a symbiote requires tremendous strength, didn't you?"
Logan snorted. There was another reason he hadn't left. This kid was mysterious—he knew a lot. If what he said about the symbiote's power was true, then this whole mess wouldn't be a big problem.
"Will you help me, Venom?"
In the next moment, black liquid oozed from Chino's clothes, forming into a massive, ferocious creature with razor-sharp teeth and a long, protruding tongue.
"Watch me slaughter them."
Venom lunged forward, instantly getting showered by a hail of bullets.
A mutant with a hole in the middle of his hand suddenly leaped out, sending a shockwave toward Venom.
The force rippled across Venom's body but failed to penetrate his defenses.
"That tickles."
Ignoring the bullets, Venom decided to handle the mutants first, using his mental link with Chino to strategize.
He crouched slightly. In the next second, a black bolt of lightning shot toward the mutant, and a massive, casserole-sized fist swung forward.
BANG!
It was like a baseball game. Venom's punch struck the mutant's chest, twisting his entire body into a grotesque shape before sending him crashing into the guards behind him. He didn't stop until he slammed against the back wall.
"That's the first one."
Without even glancing at the bloodied enemy, Venom shifted his gaze to the burly man whose entire body gleamed like metal.
"My name is Tieling! My body is indestructible!"
Feeling Venom's icy stare, the so-called "strongest" man felt a chill down his spine. But he forced himself to remain calm. Trembling, he roared to boost his courage and charged at Venom.
"Is that so? Then let's test it out."
Venom's lips curled into a sneer as he dashed forward. Both moved at lightning speed, closing the distance in an instant.
And then—
BANG!
A deafening impact rang out, like the toll of a giant bell. Venom's fist smashed into Tieling's face.
For a moment, time seemed to stop.
Tieling's body froze, his eyeballs suddenly ruptured, and blood streamed from his eye sockets. At the same time, a white liquid dripped from his ears.
With just one strike, Venom had shattered his brain, completely draining him of life.
"Turns out, the body's surface might be tough, but the internal organs are still fragile flesh and blood."
Venom stared at Tieling's lifeless body.
The battlefield fell silent. The gunfire stopped. The remaining guards gawked at the monstrous being before them.
"How much do they pay per month? How do you even live?"
"Run!"
"Let's try this trick."
As the guards scattered in all directions, Venom didn't bother chasing them. Instead, he raised his fists and slammed them into the ground.
Tremors shook the lab.
"Thousands of tendrils will end this."
With Venom's low growl, dozens of black tendrils erupted from the ground. Like venomous snakes, they shot out, piercing every fleeing guard.
The tendrils moved too fast. There was no escape. They mercilessly skewered the guards, dealing fatal damage.
Silence.
The tendrils writhed in the air, as if celebrating victory.
Venom stood unmoving, radiating an aura of sheer terror.
He turned his gaze to a figure lying on the ground.
"This one is hallucinating. What's going on?"
Venom's face peeled back, revealing Chino's.
[He was killed mentally before his body even fell.]
Venom's voice echoed in Chino's mind.
"Venom is even more powerful than I expected."
[…]
"But, Venom, you're not going to eat these people, are you?" Chino hesitated before asking.
Venom had considered the issue of eating humans when choosing his host.
[Don't like it? Anyway, chocolate is a better energy source.]
"Thank you. Choosing you was the best decision of my life."
[You're welcome.]
As the noises outside faded, Wade and Logan stepped out. Seeing the mighty Venom standing among lifeless bodies, Wade called out:
"Hey, Boss. You good?"
Chino returned to his normal form and faced the two.
"Let's go."
The three left the base and got into a car. Chino finally exhaled in relief. Today had been exhausting.
From a distance, he pressed a button.
A loud explosion erupted behind them, forming a mushroom cloud.
"Aah, Boss, job's done. Time for the final payment?" Wade grinned.
"Let's fix your injuries first, Wade."
Placing a hand on Wade's shoulder, Chino allowed the black symbiote to mend his wounds.
"Ahh! Boss, go easy!"
Wade scratched at his shoulder.
"Wow. It's like new. You'd make a killing if you opened a clinic, Boss."
Chino and Venom exchanged thoughts.
[This man has cancer.]
"Can we cure it?"
[No.]
"I see..."
So, Deadpool was truly unkillable.
