Chapter 6: Chapter 6 Our Butler
"Can you still do this?"
Chino was slightly surprised. Did Venom still possess this ability?
[I don't know. I've never tried it, but I believe it should work.]
Venom hesitated for a moment. He wasn't sure if he could succeed, but instinctively, he felt that he could.
"Let me think for a moment."
Chino was deep in thought. Of course, he wanted to be able to heal his own genetic factors. Not only would it allow him to recover faster, but it would also slow down aging.
Additionally, helping Stark came with certain risks, but the potential rewards were substantial. If he ever encountered an unbeatable enemy, he could always escape to the DC universe.
"If you're going to do it, just go. If things go south, escape to another world."
Logan asked, "Kid, where are you headed? Are you planning to help?"
From the beginning, Chino had been talking to himself, his expression shifting as he requested a map.
Wade was already drunk. But if Logan had a healing factor, why wasn't he drunk as well?
Chino shook his head. "No, Logan. I can handle this myself. You have your own duties."
"Alright. If you ever need to make a call..." Logan said quietly.
Chino stood up and patted Logan on the shoulder.
"Don't worry! I won't waste the kindness you've shown me. You two keep drinking; I'm heading home first."
With that, he turned and left.
Logan scratched his shoulder with his finger. It felt a little itchy.
Outside the bar, Chino glanced at the black tissue in the center of his palm.
"Venom, did it work?"
[It certainly did.]
"How long until it's fully integrated?"
[A few hours.]
With this, he now had an added layer of security in this world.
Chino got into his luxury car and let out a sigh of relief.
"As expected, I still can't get used to bars filled with alcohol and cigarettes."
"Yes, Master. In the future, you should avoid such places."
"Well then, Cassel, can I trust you?"
Chino casually glanced at the chauffeur. After spending a week in this world, Cassel had treated him with utmost care.
They had known each other for a while, and Cassel even knew his favorite foods.
"Of course, Master. I swear on my wife and children."
Cassel didn't turn around but watched Chino through the rearview mirror.
"Venom, come out and greet the butler."
"Hello, Mr. Cassel."
Venom extended his terrifying head from Chino's shoulder, revealing sharp fangs and a long tongue.
"Hello, Mr. Venom..."
Cassel wasn't startled. Instead, a strange glint appeared in his eyes.
"You're not afraid of me?"
Venom found it odd. He could sense that the man before him wasn't scared at all.
"No, Mr. Venom. Please take a seat. I'm driving."
Cassel kept his eyes on the road without a hint of hesitation.
"You're quite composed."
"Crashing the car into a wall—now, that would be scary."
"Fair point..."
"Rest assured, this car is very expensive."
Chino wrapped his arms around Venom's head and stuffed a handful of chocolate into his mouth to calm him down.
Chino asked, "Cassel, what did you do before this?"
"I was a U.S. Marine with the rank of Captain. After retiring, I worked as an instructor for a while, and then I became a butler for the young master's household."
Cassel didn't hide anything.
"Why not use your qualifications? Why become a butler?"
Chino was puzzled. With his credentials, he could easily earn millions annually as a bodyguard for the rich.
"My master saved my wife and children. In return, I became his butler," Cassel replied with a smile.
A Marine Captain with a family—a very familiar setup.
[Idiot. It's him.]
Venom's voice rang in Chino's mind. He glared at Venom to confirm his suspicions.
"Cassel, what's your full name?"
"Frank Cassel."
It was him. The Punisher. The pinnacle of human soldiers.
"Frank, how long have you been a butler?"
"Five months and six days."
Frank provided a precise answer.
"How did my parents die?"
"Master and his wife died suddenly after drinking alcohol," Frank replied without a change in expression.
"But the mansion's wine cellar is empty."
Frank fell silent.
Chino didn't press further. He shifted his thoughts to his abilities. Right now, he could only pass through the DC universe.
But what if he could time travel in the future? After all, this world was full of anomalies, and with enough power, manipulating time wasn't impossible.
Also, the time Frank mentioned—wasn't that the exact moment they first met? He made a mental note of it.
"Scratch, scratch..."
[Hey...]
His parents had suddenly died the day before his time travel. He had seen their pictures, but their bodies were already in coffins.
"Scratch, scratch..."
[Are you listening...?]
If his father was his future self, then who was his mother? Could he take others through time? If so, then...
"Are you treating my head like a stress ball? Scratch harder! Ahhh!"
Venom lost it and bit Chino's head in frustration.
"That hurts!"
Chino felt like his head was about to explode. His previous thoughts vanished as he pleaded for mercy.
"Alright, alright. Sorry, I got lost in thought. When I think about something, I can't help but analyze it."
"Hmph. No one cares about your overthinking. Just stop ignoring me. That was intentional."
"Ahhh! Stop biting me! I'm bleeding!"
In the rearview mirror, Frank's eyes twinkled with amusement. His face remained neutral, but he seemed entertained by their antics.
Wait, manners.
Chino stepped out of the car, blood dripping from his forehead.
"Venom, you can heal my wounds, but you can't wipe off the blood?"
[It's a keepsake.]
"Right..."
Too slow.
Chino rushed to the bathroom and started washing up.
"Venom, my back itches a little. Scratch it for me."
[Am I your nanny now?]
Despite his complaints, Venom extended a few black tendrils and scratched his back.
"Ahh, much better."
After showering, Chino lay down on his soft bed, feeling exhausted in his loose pajamas.
"Venom, how does the self-healing factor merge?"
[Just sleep for a while. It's safe and painless,] Venom assured him, emerging from his chest.
"Alright, I'll leave it to you."
A few moments later, Chino's breathing steadied, and he fell into a deep sleep.
[He really fell asleep so easily...]
Venom mused silently. He could sense Chino's physical condition clearly. Indeed, he was sleeping soundly.
Venom recalled Chino's memories. He had always been a cautious person, especially since arriving in this world, where he often woke up in the middle of the night.
But now, he had let his guard down so easily, placing complete trust in Venom.
[What a strange human. He relaxes just by watching a few movies.]
Still, Venom didn't mind. Even if the reason was unclear, he liked the feeling of being trusted.
[Stupid and reckless Chino.]
Venom whispered before merging into Chino's body, initiating the fusion of the self-healing factor.
"Trust is earned, respect is given, and loyalty is demonstrated. Betrayal of any one is to lose all three." - Unknown
