Chapter 1388: Barefooted beggars
The truth was of course different. After kicking out her second and third sister, Yu Sa lived a life of comfort. She plundered what could be sold and used what could be used, in the end, the old properties of the Yu family from the first generation were slowly destroyed.
Though Old Madam Yu was able to slowly gain back what she had lost and told her successors that it was left to her by their grandparents, Old Madam Yu knew how hard it was for her to slowly collect everything that was snatched from her.
She glanced at Yu Sa lightly and snatched her hands back. Old Madam Yu said, "This house doesn't belong to me but my granddaughter. She will be back in the evening and you can talk to her whether or not she will allow you to live here, will depend on that."
Hearing Old Madam Yu's words, Yu Sa thought that the latter was trying to push her out of the house. She gritted her teeth and cursed Old Madam Yu to die in her heart but outwardly she smiled at Old Madam Yu and said to her, "What are you talking about? You are her elder and she is your junior, why would you need her permission?"
"Because I and Yu Dong have long separated," Old Madam Yu was now very glad that she had removed Yu Dong from the family tree. She glanced at Yu Sa who seemed shocked and stated, "I am also living in this house because my daughter is unfilial and my husband is not virtuous. So how can I make a decision? If my granddaughter got angry, then I will also be kicked out along with you."
Her words caused the smiles on Yu Sa's family members' faces to collapse and only then did Old Madam Yu scoffed in her heart while feeling satisfied. Did these people think that she was that easy to fool?
"Mammy Gong, bring them to the side pavilion," Old Madam Yu said to Mammy Gong who returned with Doctor Gu. Mammy Gong looked at the people who stood on the side and conceded, "I understand, Old Madam Yu."
She turned to Yu Sa and said to her, "Follow me, I will take you to the guest pavilion," then without waiting for her to say anything, Mammy Gong walked over to the other side of the house. The guest pavilion was way far from the main building, this was to make sure that the guests of their family would be able to live comfortably.
But now Old Madam Yu was glad because with the pavilion being far from the main building, her elder sister would not be able to make too much trouble and it would also give her time to hide what needed to be hidden!
"Doctor Gu, I will leave this child with you. Take a look at him," Old Madam Yu said to Doctor Gu who nodded while Old Madam Yu asked her grandsons-in-law to follow her inside.
Shen Li and the rest exchanged a glance with one another before following, Old Madam Yu inside. Once they were inside the house, Old Madam Yu asked Shen Li to lock the front door.
"Grandma, what's the matter?" Chen Mi asked as he looked at Old Madam Yu who was pacing in the room worriedly.
"That's right, grandmother. I don't think that I have ever heard you mentioning an older sister," Ye Liu was the sharpest among all and brought the most important topic forward at once.
Old Madam Yu sighed and explained, "That's because I did not have an older sister." She then told them about how Yu Sa took the properties from her hand and then kicked her out of the house.
When the mers heard about the actions of Yu Sa, they couldn't help but condemn her.
"How shameless. Even after doing something like this, she dares to come here?"
"Do we really have to keep them here? I don't want to."
"Grandmother, I don't think that they came here just to stay for a few days," Shen Li was smart enough to realise that. After all, why would someone who had broken their relationship with Old Madam Yu for ages suddenly appear out of nowhere?
Something was fishy!
Old Madam Yu was also aware of this. She sneered coldly and agreed with Shen Li, "That is indeed true. My elder sister has been greedy and narrow-minded ever since she was a child. I don't know how she found out about our lives getting better but now that she is here, I don't think that she will leave without causing trouble."
Yu Sa and Ming Sheng were like barefooted beggars, they did not care about what others thought about them. When she was kicked out the villagers of the village where she used to live said a lot of things to Yu Sa but the latter acted as if she could hear what they were saying to her.
Her sister did not care about what people said about her as long as she could get what she wanted. And with Ming Sheng who was apt in twisting things around, helping her from the sidelines, Yu Sa had never failed in getting what she wanted.
This was the reason why Old Madam Yu never went back home, instead, she started her life in the Big River Village. It was hard to get on her feet but it was better to live here than suffer in her home village.
Who would have thought that after all that suffering, Yu Sa would still come haunting her?
Old Madam Yu rubbed her head and said to the five mers, "I am not someone who would act stingy but I would rather not have them leech onto our family. Hide whatever valuables you have in the hidden safe as for meat and eggs, it's better to have Mammy Gong and Mammy Si put them in the cellar.
My elder sister is like a beast, if she ended up getting a taste of the blood then she would rather die than let go."
