Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle

Chapter 534: The Next Challengers

Raze and her team had rushed to this place after learning the havoc created by the loose Zombie Lord. It was the first Zombie Lord that had gotten out of its chamber and they knew that it would be a disaster for many Survivors.

The group had actually known about the Zombie Lord's escape since they were able to read the news in the Regional Chat.

They had rushed to follow the Zombie Lord's path and took them a whole day to arrive here.

At this time, Raze recognized that the Zombie Lord was fighting against the Necromancers.

Since they were both enemies of the Survivors, her team decided to simply watch and wait for the result of this battle.

"Raze, that thing looks crazy… I think it got stronger after leaving that chamber." Lyra muttered as she saw the Zombie Lord.

It was completely different from the one she had just defeated.

"I don't think we should fight it with just the five—or six of us." Kael said while looking at Roan who seemed to be very excited to have a battle against the Zombie Lord.

He certainly knew that Roan was strong. However, he was a bit nervous since he could also tell that the Ravenous Tyrant was not an easy opponent. It was completely different from the other Zombie Lords they killed.

Tessa and Jaxon, on the other hand, felt that the Necromancers were actually doing well in the battle. After a few moments, they were already considering whether they might have a chance to win against the Zombie Lord if the Necromancers heavily injured it before being defeated.

"Let's watch for now." Raze said as she calmly waited for the battle to end. She didn't care if the Necromancers died since they deserved it anyway.

Of course, the Necromancers had no idea that they were being watched by a group of Survivors.

They were too focused on their life-and-death battle against the Zombie Lord.

"This is impossible… How can anyone defeat this monster?" Verathis was in disbelief.

Every spell, every creature, every weapon they threw at it, the Zombie Lord could adapt to it.

Then, it countered their attacks as if the Ravenous Tyrant could never be stopped.

Apparently, when Verathis' Bone Golems tried to crush it, the Tyrant grew spike on it, impaling the constructs from the inside.

Then, when Ilvara's Spell, Deadly Soul Chains, tried to bind it, the Tyrant absorbed the chains instead and it grew more powerful!

Furthermore, when Darius' flesh colossus tried to overpower it, the Tyrant mimicked its large composition, creating an even more monstrous form that consumed the abomination in the end…

By the sixth hour, the Necromancers were visibly exhausted.

By the ninth hour, Ilvara had actually died after using up all the Death Energy she could muster and was unable to escape in the end.

Verathis tried to Save Ilvara but the Bone Golems failed as their bodies were crushed into dust.

Verathis and Darius fought on, but with every passing moment, their spells and summons grew weaker, and their forces dwindled, by the twelfth hour, the end had come.

Darius, bleeding and barely standing, watched as Verathis made one final desperate stand.

He had unleashed all the souls he had ever captured, forming a swarm of wailing spirits that threatened to rip the Tyrant apart from within.

It was a powerful spell that Verathis had been saving when he planned to conquer the Ironhold Shelter.

However, it was not used against the Zombie Lord who was still very strong!

For a moment, it looked like it might work. It seemed as if he had found the answer as the Ravenous Tyrant's flesh started cracking and melting with Wailing Spirits' attacks.

Unfortunately, Tyrant roared and destroyed every spirit around it!

It was such an unfair overpowered move from the Zombie Lord!

Verathis' body twitched as he felt the backlash from that attack.

Darius, already weakened, could only watch as the Tyrant crushed him in its mouth, ending the reign of the Bone Conqueror forever.

He knew he was next.

But Darius was not a fool.

He activated his hidden escape array, a forbidden teleportation spell that would cost him his entire arsenal of undead... but grant him a single chance to flee.

As the ritual took effect, the last thing he saw was the Ravenous Tyrant standing in the ruins of Black Hollow… It even seemed stronger as it felt as if it absorbed the power of the two Necromancers it killed!

And then Darius was gone.

"That Necromancer escaped." Kael muttered as he watched the Zombie Lord destroy what remains in the Wild Shelter.

Raze sighed… The failure of the ROTK Clan's raid was no longer just their problem.

The Ravenous Tyrant had been set loose upon the world and it would be a huge problem if they just allowed it to roam the world.

"I'm checking the chat and no one seems coming… Even Travis had no intent to deal with this problem." Lyra muttered as she checked the Regional Chat.

"That makes sense… Their main team was probably exploring Sector 20 at the moment. After all, there's no announcement regarding the next event. Everyone must've thought that it's their free time to explore this continent." Kael muttered.

It was actually something they considered as well but since they knew that many top rankers would go to Sector 20, they decided to just explore more areas within the surrounding region to find more Treasure Chests or grind more Experience Points in hunting areas less visited by other Survivors.

After all, even if there were plenty of Zombie Lord Territories in Sector 20, there should still be a few Zombie Lords in other sectors they could hunt…

Unfortunately, the one they were about to hunt seemed a bit too strong already.

"I have a feeling that this thing will just be stronger. We should kill it now." Raze said after some thought.

The others could tell this much as well, so they just nodded and followed their leader.

"If you're seeing a chance for us to defeat it, then I'm all for it." Tessa said.

The others nodded their heads since they knew very well that Raze had also obtained various benefits from Shane.

After all, Raze actually offered the Territory Key Fragment to Shane!

Shane had obviously accepted this and of course, he didn't just take it from Raze… Shane had given her something they could probably use against this Zombie Lord!

Furthermore, Raze and Lyra had already defeated Zombie Lords once. It means that both of them had the full set of the Zombie Lord they had killed!

"Let go!" Raze said as she led the team to where the Zombie Lord was.

The previous Wild Shelter was now in ruins. There was also the scent of burning flesh and broken corpses filling the air as Raze's team stood against the monstrous Ravenous Tyrant.

The Zombie Lord was certainly a lot more intimidating as soon as they got closer. It even felt as if it was radiating an aura of death though it must be their imagination.

"Ugh…" Lyra frowned as she looked at the Zombie Lord's mouth.

Its teeth still dripped with the remains of its previous victims…

Then, after a few moments, the Zombie Lord had finally noticed them, and its soulless eyes fixated on them…

Roan, the young red dragon, stood at the forefront. There were also tiny flames licking from its mouth as it let out low a roar.

Raze considered for a moment whether to use her lance or sword but after a few moments, she decided to her halberd the new weapon she obtained from the Zombie Lord she had killed before.

"Roan… You're excited, huh…"

She could feel Roan's heartbeat in sync with her. She felt a lot more confident seeing that Roan wasn't feeling scared even after getting close to the Zombie Lord.

"Stay focused…" Jaxon murmured. Then, his eyes glowed faintly as his Foresight Talent activated. "It's fast. Too fast for something its size."

Lyra positioned far away from them with her Sharpshooter Talent… She was using a Sniper Rifle and from this distance, she should be safe from the Zombie Lord's detected…

She adjusted her scope. "I have a clear shot at its eye. If we're doing this, we do it now."

Tessa with her Night Scout Talent, blended into the shadows.

Everyone knew her task, to find an opening to deliver a single burst of powerful attack that could tip the favor on their side…

Kael, on the other hand, was not too far from Raze even if he was the weakest one in the group.

After all, his Healing Hands were extremely important to sustain Raze and Roan who would be on the front lines and the range of his Talent was limited.

Nonetheless, with his various items with mystical abilities and the Skill Potions, Talisman, and Tokens that he had, he should be able to survive and escape even if he gets targeted by the Zombie Lord.
