Chapter 87: First Aid (Requesting Subscriptions and Monthly Tickets)_2
Luo Fei pointed at the camera in his hand.
Yang Dawei froze, unable to say another word.
Five minutes later, Yang Su drove over.
He parked the car by the roadside and got off with a quick step.
"Not bad, Luo Fei. I thought by choosing to follow Yang Dawei you'd miss out on a big opportunity, but instead, you ended up achieving something even bigger!"
Yang Su said with a laugh, giving him a firm pat on the shoulder, "Well done, well done. Now I won't feel guilty for taking your credit!"
Luo Fei smiled wryly, "Team Leader, there's no need to talk about taking credit; we're all on the same side here."
"You've been with me through the whole operation, so the credit is shared. Besides, you caught the guy, too. How could it be called taking your credit?"
"Alright, I won't say any more. In any case, I'll remember this favor you did..."
"Team Leader, hold on. Let's check on the child first!" Luo Fei said, pointing at the child.
Hearing this, Yang Su glanced at the child in the suitcase. Seeing the child lying still, he couldn't help but become anxious, "What's the situation with this child..."
"He's been unconscious the whole time. I suspect he was drugged, but I've already called 120; the ambulance should be here soon!"
"That's good."
Yang Su nodded and then looked angrily at Yang Dawei, "You bastards are too heartless. How can you treat such a small child like this? Are you even human?"
Though he had been a detective for many years and seen all sorts of cases, he still got particularly angry whenever he encountered cases of child abuse!
As a mentally sound adult, he couldn't fathom how anyone could lay a cruel hand on innocent, defenseless children. Even if they had no children of their own, didn't they have a childhood?
"That bastard even kicked the suitcase just now..." Luo Fei was equally indignant.
"What a scumbag!"
Yang Su was furious, almost wanting to run up and kick Yang Dawei himself.
Throughout, Yang Dawei kept repeating a flimsy excuse.
"The suitcase belongs to someone else, I didn't know there was a child inside, it's not my fault..."
"Hmph, save your excuses for prison. Get up, into the car!"
With scum like this, Yang Su didn't want to be polite. He harshly shouted and escorted him to the car.
After handcuffing him securely, he returned to Luo Fei's side.
Both were visibly outraged, condemning the act until they heard the ambulance siren racing towards them from a distance.
Luo Fei quickly waved both hands, trying to get their attention.
The ambulance stopped right in front of them, and the driver leaned out to confirm, "Did you call 120 just now?"
"I did!"
The back of the ambulance opened, and two medical staff quickly got off.
"Where's the child?" the male doctor, in a white coat, asked anxiously.
"Here. This child hasn't woken up; we suspect he might have been given sleeping pills. Please check him immediately!"
Luo Fei pointed to the child in the suitcase nearby.
Seeing the situation, both medical staff gave them a skeptical look, their eyes filled with suspicion and wariness.
After all, deep in the night on a deserted road lies a child possibly drugged and inside a suitcase. It's all a bit too suspicious.
Plus, as they were both in plain clothes, the medical team instinctively viewed them as child abusers.
The female nurse was even contemplating whether to secretly call the police.
Realizing the misunderstanding, Luo Fei quickly explained, "Don't misunderstand us. We're police officers. We just rescued this child from a suspect. He was already like this when I arrived."
Saying this, Luo Fei showed his ID, and Yang Su did the same.
"Oh, you scared me!" Seeing their badges, the female nurse breathed a sigh of relief, her earlier anxiety dissipating.
After this brief misunderstanding, the two medical staff swiftly conducted a basic check on the boy.
Yang Su watched nervously and asked once they seemed to have finished, "Doctor, how is the child?"
"The child's pupils are unresponsive, he's unconscious, and his pulse and breathing are weak. Initially, we suspect it might be an overdose of sleeping pills causing the coma."
This matched Luo Fei's initial guess, though Yang Su was not surprised. The troubling part was the doctor's next statement.
"Additionally, the child may have symptoms of poisoning due to sleeping pill overdose, so immediate medical attention is necessary!" the male doctor said as he lifted the child and headed towards the ambulance.
Hearing the situation, both Luo Fei and Yang Su's expressions turned grave.
"Doctor, is this a serious situation?"
The doctor shook his head, "It's hard to say right now, but we'll do everything we can to help."
"Alright then. Doctor, this child might have been kidnapped. We don't have information about his parents yet, and we have other tasks at hand. So, we'll have to rely on you to take care of him for a few days, but don't worry. As soon as we have manpower, we will send someone over immediately."
Learning that the child might have been kidnapped, the doctor and nurse, both parents themselves, became filled with sympathy, assuring Luo Fei they'd take good care of the child and that he needn't worry.
Luo Fei then exchanged phone numbers with the doctor, and the ambulance sped off towards the hospital.
Luo Fei and Yang Su were relieved of a great burden, and Yang Su exhaled deeply, "Let's head back. We should have a good talk with those two scumbags!"
At 1 AM, Luo Fei and Yang Su finally returned to the detective squad with Yang Dawei in custody.
The station, usually deserted by this hour, was brightly lit. Apart from the technical and canine units, everyone else was busy inside, yawning.
While Yang Su took Yang Dawei to the interrogation room, Luo Fei swiftly returned to the office to grab the necessary records for the interrogation.
Just as he entered, Wang Yong burst in, looking aggrieved, "Team Leader, that's unfair!"
"You said you'd carry our Group Three to success, but you and Team Leader Yang solved a big human trafficking case without a word, not to mention catching the suspect without us. We didn't even get a taste of the glory!"
As he spoke, the other three nodded vigorously at Luo Fei.
"Sorry, guys, but under those circumstances, I really couldn't wait. I promise I'll wait for you next time."
"No next time, Team Leader. I've decided; I'm going wherever you go from now on!"
Wang Yong said, clinging to his arm dramatically, "I want to be with you always!"
Luo Fei shivered, laughed and cursed jokingly, shaking off the goosebumps.
"Even though you missed the arrest, don't worry, I won't leave you with nothing to do."
"Here are pictures of the child we rescued today, and this is the doctor treating him. Call him later to find out the child's blood type, and compare the missing child reports online. We need to find the child's parents quickly."
As Luo Fei spoke, he sent over the phone number and photos.
Seeing the photos on his phone, Wang Yong lamented, "Searching for people again! We've been looking all afternoon, my eyes are about to go crossed!"
"Well, are you going to search or not?"
"Search, search, we'll search now."
"That's settled then!"
