Chapter 34: Jayden's Tale
"This is it," Jayden stood in the shower. The cool water dripped down his face as he washed the soap out of his silver hair. He shut off the water and grabbed a towel off the rack beside his shower. He took a step out of the shower drying his hair. He ran the towel down his arms, his chiseled chest and abs. He wrapped the towel around his waist and began brushing his teeth.
Next to his toothbrush holder was his cell phone. The alarm was going off ringing in his ears like a loud bell. The reminder read Scythe's final test. Today Scythe was going to test his growth and finally give him a spot in the collection. Blaire's mark is the sword, Fate's mark is the shield, Lord Alexander's mark is the crown. He couldn't wait to see what his mark was going to be. Maybe a knife, or a ninja throwing star, or what if he represented a royal scepter or something. I mean, he wasn't about to stop trying to be Blaire's boyfriend. So maybe, his symbol could be something that marked him as the rightful Prince. He'd make a better Prince than Angel, that's for sure.
Jayden slipped on a pair of black boxer briefs and walked over to his closet. The bath towel around his waist dropped to his ankles as he searched through his clothes for something to wear for his final test. He grabbed a gray tank and some distressed faded jeans. He moved his clothes aside revealing a target board behind them. He reached into his sock and took out a single throwing knife. He threw it at the target, hitting a perfect bullseye. The wall split open, opening a secret room. The room lit up revealing all of Jayden's weapons. He snapped his fingers, by controlling the metal in the weapons. He gathered them all and began browsing through them as if it were some sort of touch screen.
"Let's see what we got here," Jayden swiped through his weapons. He had a bag placed beside him. "Definitely going with these babies. He grabbed some throwing darts that were laced in holy water, stuffing a couple dozen in his bag. What else," He kept scrolling through his weapons. "Know what, it's been awhile since I used these and who doesn't like a few surprises." He grabbed a metal ball that was covered in spikes which could be fired off the ball in every direction. "I got just enough room in my bag for one more." He kept scrolling through his weapons. "Sorry crossbow, arrows don't really work on Scythe. So, I'm going with-." He rubbed his chin. "This baby." He grabbed some rolled up wire sticking it in his bag. He'd use that to tie Scythe up and restrict his movement.
"And of course," Jayden scrolled to his daggers and his enforcer tactical gauntlet. "You know, I can't go anywhere without you guys." He slipped on the gauntlet. He tightened his hand to fist and a hidden blade came out. "Perfect," He tightened his fist again and the blade retreated back. "Get ready Scythe," He grabbed a black jacket wearing it to hide his gauntlet. "Because you're going down." He called his belt to him and controlled it. He made the belt wrap around his waist and fasten itself. The belt was decorated with removable ninja death stars. He hooked his bag to his belt and sheathed his daggers. He snapped his fingers, the excess weapons flew into the secret room and the two walls merged hiding his tools once more.
At long last Jayden was finally going to get the respect he deserved. He was tired of being overlooked. This was it, after this test. He knew he'd no longer be viewed as the weakest link. He rushed out of his room to find Scythe, popping a sun repellent pill in his mouth. Target sighted, he rushed over to Scythe. His master was in the hallway talking with Fate, The two of them were walking together.
"I don't know Fate," Scythe spoke. "You know how I feel about my students fighting each other?" He scolded. "Besides, what if it's too much for him?" He shrugged his shoulders. "We don't want to discourage him."
"Scythe, Scythe, Scythe." Jayden rushed over to him. "I'm ready for my test."
"I'm sorry Jayden, I'm a little busy at the moment." Scythe patted him on the head.
"But the war is tomorrow and you said." Jayden showed him the notification on his phone. "Come on Scythe, don't bail on me, I need you." Fate placed his hand on top of Jayden's head.
"Sorry kiddo," Fate ruffled Jayden's hair. "But something came up, Lord Alexander asked Scythe to help with Angel's training. I'd offer to help but I'm already helping Scythe train Angel. Aren't I, Scythe?" He smiled at Scythe. "Come on, who's the coolest boyfriend ever, who's going to let me help him train Angel? You are," He pinched Scythe's cheek. "Yes you are," Scythe groaned.
"If me, forsaking my morals will make you happy. Then, fine, I'll let you help with Angel's training." Scythe crossed his arms. Fate began jumping up and down excited. He even started thrusting his hips at Scythe like he was dancing. "You're lucky, you're cute, come, we have work to do."
"Scythe, you're the best." Fate smacked Scythe's ass. "I'm so sucking your dick later." He began walking down the hall with Scythe. Jayden balled his hand into a tight fist. He was ditched by his master and his sibling student so that they could train Angel. Angel was going to be his sibling student too. It wasn't fair.
"Why is it always him?" Jayden punched the wall, leaving a crack. "Angel gets the princess, Angel gets the King's respect, Angel gets the throne, Angel gets everything he wants while the rest of us." An image of Angel appeared in his head. Just the sight of him, it made his eyes burn with rage. "I hate you." He stopped in the hallway, Scythe's bedroom, there was a small crack in the doorway. He peeked inside, there was a sword case sitting on Scythe's dresser. He stepped inside Scythe's room, heading toward the case.
"What is this?" Jayden's eyes wandered the sword case. The sword case was black with a gray dragon carved into it. He ran his finger along the case touching the high quality leather. The eyes of the dragon were made out of diamonds. The case was locked tight. The sword inside this case must be something special. Wait, what if this is his sword. Scythe did say once he completed his training he'd receive his very own sword. Was this that sword? "Just a peek, won't hurt," He took out his lock picking tools and used them to break open the lock. He opened the case slowly, taking a look at his new sword.
"Is this a joke?" Jayden held up the rusted sword with knicks in the blade. The sword was thin like a katana but it had seen some use. He did a practice swing in the air. "A crappy sword, that's my gift. Oh yeah, well I can fix that." He shut his eyes using his ability to control metal to salvage the rusted sword. Once he was finished. The blade was restored, sharp as ever and the engravings. On one side of the blade was a dragon with the yin symbol and the other dragon had a yang. One dragon was shaded in while the other was outlined. "Much better," He swung the sword and put it back in its sheath. He went to put it back but stopped himself.
Scythe skipped out on his test. He chose to train Angel instead. So, why was he returning the sword that he would've gotten anyway? He bailed on him, Scythe owed him this sword. He tied the sheath around his waist and walked out of Scythe's room. Now the he had a new sword, it was time to test it out. He made his way to the training ground. He took out the sword, striking down target after target. As he was taking them out, an image of Angel appeared in his head. Once again, his anger began to build.
"Stupid Angel," Jayden sliced down another target."You may have everyone else thinking you're the perfect Prince but." He bit his lip. "I know you're a liar," He cut down another target. "A fake," He slashed a target in half. "You've got everyone eating out of the palm of your hand but I won't be fooled by you." He took a knife, throwing it at the target, hitting a bullseye. "You're hiding something Angel," He put his sword in its sheath. "And I'm going to find out what." He walked down the hall heading towards Angel's bedroom. Once he was at the door, he reached into his bag taking out his lock picking tools.
"Alright, Angel, let's see what you're hiding." Jayden went to pick the lock before he could. He was stopped by none other than the second in command herself. Selene leaned against the door, her pale blue eyes glaring at him.
"So, you're breaking into my boss's bedroom." Selene spoke. "Should I kick your ass now or later?" He dropped his lock picking tools on the floor. While he was trying to pick them up, Selene stepped on his hand, crushing it.
"Ou, Selene, cut it out, you're hurting me." Jayden kept trying to force his hand out from under her foot. "You don't understand, I need to go into Angel's room. He's hiding something, I know he is. The only way I'm going to figure out what he's hiding is by-."
"Breaking into his room." Selene finished. "How about no." She grabbed Jayden by the hood of his jacket dragging him away. He used his ability to control his lock picking tools and snuck them back into his pocket while she pulled him away.
"Look," Jayden took off his jacket and rose to his feet. Selene held up his jacket and he snatched it back from her. "If you let me in his room." He let out a long sigh. "I'll give you a pair of Angel's boxers, a dirty pair." He offered. "I know your jealous Brandon got Angel's underwear during his strip dance so I'll go in there and bring out a pair of Angel's boxers just for you. Think of it as a gift for letting me sneak into Angel's room."
"Are you trying to bribe me with Angel's dirty underwear?" Selene raised her brow. "Look, I might think Angel's hot but I'm not to the point where I'd break into his bedroom and steal his underwear." She crossed her arms. "It's Angel's room, the Prince, the next heir, you want me to turn a blind eye and let you break into his room. Have you lost it or are you just that stupid?" She asked.
"I'll give you two pairs," Jayden offered. She rolled her eyes. "Three and a shirt." She grabbed him by the ear, pulling him away. "Ou, that hurts. Selene, you don't understand. I need to go into Angel's room. I need to expose the bastard for the fake that he is. Let go of my ear, Selene, Selene, are you even listening to me?"
"I'm listening, I just don't care." Selene kept pulling him by the ear. He jerked freeing himself from her grasp. "You're not breaking into Angel's bedroom, end of discussion." He groaned. "What Angel does in his room is his business. I don't care if he has orgies in his room. That's his business, you're not going to invade his privacy."
"But Selene,"
"No buts," Selene crossed her arms. "You're to stay away from Angel's room, got it?" He didn't respond. "Know what, fine, since you can't listen. I'll just have to get Brandon to babysit you like a child. Come on," She grabbed Jayden's arm pulling him by it. She began knocking on Brandon's bedroom door. "Brandon, open up."
"Yes," Brandon opened his door.
"Take it," Selene pulled Jayden toward Brandon. "It tried to break into Angel's room. I've got a lot of things to do today. I don't have time for his bullshit."
"Nah, that's Scythe's problem." Brandon shut the door in her face.
"Brandon, you take Jayden off my hands right now. " Selene yelled. "Brandon, I will kick your ass," She began banging on Brandon's door. "Brandon, Brandon, open the door, Brandon." He heard loud music flaring in the background to drown out Selene's yelling. "He's such a pain in the ass," She brought him over to Ziek's room. "Wait, he shares his room with a human." She rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, you wouldn't want to me to drink Ziek's girlfriends blood. That'd be bad." Jayden grinned. "Looks like you're out of options unless." He held up his lock picking tools. She slapped him across the face. "Ou, you slapped me."
"What of it?" Selene shrugged.
"Nothing, it's just maybe," Jayden began controlling the metal wire in his bag. "You should consider being more nice to me." The metal wire wrapped Selene tying her up. She kept trying to break free of it but it was too tight. "Later," He took off running toward Angel's bedroom. Before he got there, he crashed into Blaire as she was walking down the hall. The sudden impact caused him to fall on his ass. "Blaire, it's you," He rose to his feet and dusted himself off. "Finally someone who has some sense."
"Not now, I'm busy." Blaire kept walking. She was speed walking toward the castle entrance.
"It's about Angel," Jayden rushed to her side. "I don't trust him, I know he's your husband but I feel like your father is being a little too nice to him. What if he's trying to give Angel, the throne, your throne. Surely, we need to do something about that right?"
"Jayden, shut the fuck up okay." Blaire ran her fingers through her red hair. "I don't have time for your stupid made up theories." She dusted herself off. "I'm well aware you don't like my husband." Her lips formed a smile as the castle doors opened. -This Woman.-
Jayden's jaw dropped. The person that was welcomed by those doors was but a beautiful angel. The woman had long platinum blonde hair, crystal blue eyes, sweet glossy lips, her figure, those agile hips, her long legs. Everything about this woman is absolute perfection. Wait, this woman, isn't she?
"Liley, so nice of you to drop by." Blaire rushed over and hugged Liley. "It's been awhile since you visited us. So is this another social visit?"
"I visited earlier, your people attacked my town so of course as mayor I had to deal with that." Liley fixed her hair. "I'm afraid I'm here on business, so my dearest friend, how are things with you?" Before Blaire could respond, Jayden held his hand out to Liley.
"I'm Jayden, it's a pleasure to meet you." He smiled at her.
"Ignore him," Blaire elbowed him in the ribs. He glared at Blaire. Wait, was she jealous of the fact that he was hitting on Liley? "Where do I begin? My father let my husband help decide the next commander. Which is usually my decision alone."
"Letting your man have a say," Liley gasped. "Blaire, you must never let a man lead. You give them one ounce of power and they'll take all of it. That's how they are, make no mistake it's them against us in terms of power. Even your father can't be trusted, he'd rather see a man rule than a woman. Daughter or not. That's just how men are." She added. "So if I were you, I'd put a tighter leash on my husband. Otherwise, you risk losing your throne."
"That's what I've been saying," Jayden spoke up. Blaire glared at him for speaking. "Angel can't be trusted. There's something off about him. I know he's-," Blaire struck Jayden in the ribs.
"I told you to shut up with your theories." Blaire yelled.
"Now Blaire, you should at least listen to what he has to say." Liley advised. "Besides, he might be onto something. What if your Prince has found a way to break his leash? Once free, it will be difficult to tame him again. He might already be free, in which case. I'd think it best to put him down before he puts you down."
"Don't worry," Blaire assured her. "I have Angel under complete control. He only thinks he's broken the leash but in reality. He's never left his prison cell. Come, I'll escort you to the throne room." She began walking alongside Liley. Jayden made sure to follow them if only to be closer to Liley.
"So Liley, you're mayor of the town right?" Jayden asked. "That's cool, you know, before I was turned into a vampire. I worked for the human faction." Blaire rolled her eyes as he continued to talk to LIley. "I was a part of the ranged unit so protecting humans was kind of my thing. So out of curiosity, and, I know this is a sore subject." He fondled his fingers together. "After your town was attacked by us, how long do you think it'd take for you to rebuild? Also, I'd imagine you'd want to strengthen your defenses. If so, would you be willing to recruit a vampire into your ranks?"
"Are you offering your services?" Liley took a minute to consider. "I've never thought of recruiting a vampire before. To be honest, I thought most of you were savage beasts who'd do anything for a sip of human blood." Blaire's eyes formed a glare at Liley. "Oh please Blaire don't be modest, you and I both know that you have quite a craving for human blood. As enticing as your offer is ugh-." She paused. "Forgive me, what did you say your name was again?"
"It's Jayden," He answered.
"You see Jayden," Liley put her hand on her hip. "My town lives on the idea that ignorance is bliss. I've created a place where humans could live in peace without having to worry about vampires or werewolves attacking them. They have no idea what lurks in the shadows and I think it best to keep it that way. It's for their safety you see." She explained. "So inviting a vampire into my ranks although, beneficial if monitored correctly. Still invites potential risk for exposure and I just can't have that. I don't like risks not when it comes to protecting my people. So, I'm afraid I'll have to decline your offer to join my side."
"I guess I can understand that, it's more of an excuse to get close to you really." Jayden's lips formed a smirk. "I mean, I've met some pretty hot girls but you're by far the hottest." He took her hand and kissed it. Blaire rolled her eyes at him. "A lady such as yourself needs to be protected. If you ever find yourself in need of a bodyguard. I'll be happy to oblige."
"I handle myself just fine," Liley removed her hand from Jayden's. "Thank you." She's playing hard to get. It's a good thing he likes it that way. The harder the catch, the better the prize and she is quite the prize. His pale eyes watched as Liley walked with Blaire. Her nice firm ass taunting his touch. He didn't care what he had to do, Liley is going to be his girlfriend. He rushed over to Liley's side as her and Blaire were talking to each other.
"So Blaire out of curiosity," Liley put her hands behind her back. "You wouldn't happen to know who attacked my town? Your father claims it to be Selene, which mind you, your husband felt the need to protect her."
"What?" Blaire raised her brow. "Angel was with me all night. Are you sure it was him?" Liley nodded. "He's probably out trying to be the hero again. Either way, it doesn't explain how he was able to be in bed with me but also out protecting Selene."
"Unless," Jayden held up a finger. "He used a curse to make you think he was with you." He added. "Because I was there, I saw him too. He was onstage stripping, I'd know because I handed him the shirt. Which begs the question. If your husband was stripping, why weren't you there? He basically jerked off onstage. You'd think as his wife, you'd say something about it."
"First of all," Blaire scolded. "If my man was stripping on stage, I'd be there to watch. There's no way he'd get away with doing something like that. I'd know. Liley, " She put her hands on her hips. "was my husband stripping?"
"I saw him shaking his goods around." Liley answered. "It was quite the display, he threw his boxers into the crowd. He used them to simulate his erotic "release". He won the stripping contest. Which was held for me as an apology for wrecking my town. Hard to believe you weren't there to witness such a display but it did in fact happen."
"I'm telling you, Blaire," Jayden put his hands in his pockets. "Something's up with Angel." He added. "You should have seen the way, He went up there and protected Selene from Liley. It was like," He gasped."I got it," He snapped his fingers. "I know what Angel's hiding." Blaire went to strike Jayden to shut him up but Liley stopped her encouraging her to hear him out. "Angel was protecting Selene right, earlier when I tried breaking into Angel's room. Selene stopped me, so what if, Angel and Selene are, you know," He motioned sex. "I mean, they are pretty close."
"Angel with Selene, that's preposterous." Blaire laughed. "Angel would never cheat on me. The man is terrified of me, I have him by the balls. Like I said before, Angel is under my complete control."
"He might not cheat on you. But a man is still a man." Liley replied. "If Selene were to say, offer herself to him. As a man, it would be hard for him to refuse. Men are easily tempted by sex. If she tempts him in just the right way. He'll give in. It's in his nature. All I'm saying is," She smirked. "It's something to consider. So I suppose the real question is. Have you done anything to Selene that might encourage her to want to sleep with your husband out of spite? I mean, there's a fine line between friend and foe."
"Look, even if Selene tried," Blaire argued, "He's too scared to do anything about it. He knows I'll kill him, he knows my father will kill him. He's not surviving if both of us are trying to kill him. The leash on my husband is tighter than you think."
"If you say so," Liley rolled her eyes. "I just know leashes no matter how strong they are. They can be broken." The three of them entered the throne room. Lord Alexander and Scythe were both inside waiting on them. Blaire walked over taking her seat beside her father. Jayden took his spot by Selene, Ziek and Brandon who were also gathered to not only greet Liley's presence but to also to protect their king.
"So, Liley, are you here to threaten me once more?" Lord Alexander asked. "I suggest you choose your words more carefully. My army doesn't take too kindly to threats." Liley's eyes wandered the room realizing she was surrounded. But, this fact didn't phase her. Just when Jayden thought she couldn't be hotter. The woman was confident enough in her abilities to not be scared even when surrounded by Lord Alexander's strongest. She's a badass and she knows it. So hot, the things he would do if she was his.
"I'll just cut to the chase, no sense in wasting my time or yours." Liley ran her fingers through her hair. "One of your brother's werewolves is pregnant with a Hybrid Child." A Hybrid? Jayden's eyes widened. This news came as a shock to the entire team. Lord Alexander however was petrified of the news. "The rules of the contract strictly forbid vampires and werewolves from producing a child. Regardless, it has happened and the rule was broken. Now, I'm here to resolve this matter personally. So, anyone who might know who the father of this child is. Please step forward, I promise no harm will come to you." She waited but nobody stepped forward. "So nobody has any idea who the father might be?" She let out a sigh.
"A Hybrid child, are you sure?" Lord Alexander asked. "My men know better than to sleep with werewolves. They would never betray me or my kingdom in such a way. This has to be some kind of mistake." He argued.
"I wouldn't be here if it was a mistake." Liley countered. "So, since nobody would like to step forward and shed some light on the subject. Lord Grimm would like all of the men who disappeared the night of the Lunar Ball to be rounded up. The woman will then point out the culprit herself. If you don't honor this request." She glared into Lord Alexander's eyes, her lips forming a slight smirk. "I think you and I both know what will happen."
"Selene," Lord Alexander spoke. "Go and gather all the men who disappeared the night of the Lunar Ball. Make haste, we will leave for my brother's castle once they are gathered." Selene went to leave but before she did. She walked over to Blaire. Jayden wasn't sure what was being said but as Selene left, she had a smirk on her face.
"Wait, Angel disappeared the night of the Lunar Ball." Jayden rubbed his chin. There's a lot of theories regarding Angel he'd be willing to consider. However, the idea that Angel had sex with a werewolf and conceived a child. There's just no way, sure he didn't trust him. But even he didn't think Angel would go that far. "Still if Angel did have a hand in this, there's only one way to find out." He saw that the team had all left. They were all helping Selene gather the men hoping to gather them as quickly as possible.
Jayden walked down the hall to Angel's bedroom. He took out his lock picking tools and began picking the lock to the door. He had to hurry if anyone saw him doing this. They'd stop him immediately. The lock opened, once he touched the door knob. A curse appeared on his hand, this curse, it was going to alert Angel of what he did. He had to do this quickly. He went into Angel's room and shut the door quietly.
The room was a mess, Angel's clothes were on the floor, the books were off the shelf. Somehow, he thought Angel's room would be more organized than this. He rushed over to Angel's dresser and began checking his drawers.
"Let's see what you're hiding," Jayden grabbed chunks of Angel's boxers, throwing them on the floor. While he was doing so, he felt something metal touch his hand. "Gotcha," Jayden picked up a steel key, this key. It belonged to Blaire, she wore it the night of Lunar Ball. Until, it went missing. He stole this from her. "Let's see you talk your way out of this one." He tucked the key into his back pocket. He walked out of Angel's room and shut the door.
"Jayden?" Angel raised his brow. "Were you in my room?" He pointed at the door. "It's just I have this curse on my door you see. It triggers when somebody touches the door knob. So, I thought to check it out and you're here. So, I'll ask again," He crossed his arms. "Were you in my bedroom?" Quick, think of an excuse.
Jayden didn't want to know what Angel was going to do to him if he told him the truth. He might be teleported off a cliff, be turned into a cat, be trapped in a boiling hot volcano. Who knows what kind of evil, demented, curses Angel had up his sleeve.
"Silly me," Jayden laughed. "I must have touched the door knob by accident." He rubbed the back of his neck. "I wasn't in your room, I swear, what reason would I have to go in there? It's your room." He added.
"I was thinking that exact same thing." Angel tilted his head. "So ugh, you care to enlighten me? Or am I to assume this was all an accident? Because," He walked up to Jayden. "I'm not buying it."
"Like I said it was an accident so I'll just be going now bye Angel." Jayden took off running down the hall. Angel didn't bother to chase him. Instead, he went into his bedroom. It wouldn't be long before Angel found out he'd been in his room. He had to be quick, he raced to Blaire's bedroom running as fast he possibly could.
"Blaire, Blaire, I told you Angel was hiding something. Look what I found." Jayden held up the key he found in Angel's room. His eyes widened. He couldn't believe what he was seeing Blaire and Liley were, they were kissing. "Oh my, if only I could say it." Blaire, the woman he's dreamed of since he became a vampire and Liley the woman he was currently lusting after. The two of them were kissing in front of him. "Got room for one more?"
"Men," Liley rolled her eyes at him. "Always thinking with their penises first." She wiped Blaire's lipstick off her lips. She casually walked over to him. "Now Jayden, what you saw here you must not tell anyone else for if you so much as tell anyone. I'll cut out your tongue with my claws and watch you bleed to death. As well as the person you told. Do you understand what I'm telling you? Or, " She held her claws to his throat. "Should I kill you now."
"I understand, your secret is safe with me. I won't tell anyone. Now about that three way." Jayden smirked. His blue jeans fell to his ankles and he grabbed the waistband of his boxers. He was ready to take them off and jump in with these ladies. Liley rolled her eyes at him.
"Blaire," Liley let out a deep sigh. "Deal with it." She walked out Blaire's bedroom. He gasped as Liley left him with his pants around his ankles.
"But you haven't even seen it yet." Jayden complained. "Well, Blaire, looks like it's just us." He went to remove his boxers but she held her sword to his throat.
"Show it to me and I'll cut it off," Blaire warned. "Where'd you get this," She snatched the key out of his hand. "This is mine, I've been looking for this key."
"I'm glad you asked," Jayden zipped up his pants. "I found it in Angel's room. I told you he was up to something. So, what's the key for, is it the key to your heart?" Blaire punched him in the stomach, he fell to his knees clutching his stomach. "Ou, was that really necessary?" He plopped over lying on his side while he held his stomach. Blaire stormed out of her room creating a diamond sword in her hand. "Blaire," He got back on his feet holding his stomach. "Wait for me, I want to see Angel get his ass kicked." He chased after her.
