Chapter 35: Blaire's Tale
"Is it true?" Blaire's eyes began to burn with anger. She thought about Liley's words. She told her she couldn't trust her own father. That even he doesn't wish for her to take his throne. "Is everything my father told me a lie?" She held tight to her sword as she headed towards Angel's bedroom to confront the person who was about to take everything from her.
"Just think," Her father sat on the floor behind her. He was brushing her red hair as she played with her dolls. Her father made her doll house out of diamond. It was shaped just like the castle her and her father lived in. She had one of her dolls sitting on the throne of the castle playing queen. Her father was watching as she led her pretend kingdom as a beloved queen. "One day, you won't need to pretend to be a queen. You'll be one. My throne and everything I've built will rest with you. I know, when that day comes, you'll be the greatest queen this castle has ever seen."
"Yeah, I'll be a strong ruler like you." Blaire glanced over at her father. "I'll have knights and servants, once the war's over, we'll throw this huge party. On that day, nobody has to work even the servants will get to party. We'll celebrate together. It'll be the biggest party ever." She continued playing with her dolls, having them all dance like they were at a party. "Daddy, when will the war be over? Do you think it'll be over tomorrow or do you think the doggies will still be mad at us?"
"I'm afraid the doggies will be mad at us for a while. I don't see them being happy with us for you see. Doggies don't like us, they think we smell bad and that we're bad people." Her father explained. "But if I could end the war tomorrow," He ran his finger through her hair. "I would, if only so, I'd be spending less time in the war room and more time with you dear." He kissed the top of her head. "But I must settle this matter so that when you're queen. You won't be left to pick up the mess, war creates."
"You said, I'd be Queen. So then why is-," Blaire could hear the cheering as Angel defeated Ziek. During that fight, Angel was adored, beloved, he had gained her father's respect. She was a fool not to notice what that fight was for. Her father wanted to show the progress of Angel's training. He wanted the people to see their new heir. Why else would her father volunteer to train Angel? "Why are you doing this to me?" Her anger continued to grow as she got closer to Angel's bedroom. "I'm your daughter, why does he get the throne?" She bit her lip. "Angel, you bastard, you evil bastard, it was always about stealing my throne. You claim you don't want it but if that's true then why did you steal this from me?" She held the key to the secret library in her hand. "What else have you taken from me? How many times have you lied to me? I'll kill you, I'll fucking kill you." She kicked the door to Angel's bedroom open.
There were some books on the floor. Blaire walked over to them checking each one. None of these books belonged in the secret Library. So, he was smart enough to cover his tracks but. She smirked. Due to hasty cleaning, she knew where to find him. She grabbed Angel's door handle and slammed the door shut. She began heading to the library.
"Angel, hurry, she's coming." She heard Brandon whisper as he blocked the door. She drew her sword and Brandon gulped. "Blaire, ugh, the library is closed, see ugh, Angel knocked over a bookshelf and made a huge mess. So I'm guarding the door so nobody bothers him while he cleans up his mess. So you see ugh, I can't let you in."
"Move now," Blaire glared deep into his eyes. She gripped tighter on her blade. Brandon still refused to move. That's fine, she'll just cut him in half. She swung her sword and Brandon ducked. She jammed her knee into Brandon's face breaking his nose using diamond to strengthen the attack. "Next time, I tell you to move, fucking move." She kicked Brandon while he was down and walked into the Library. Before she could, Brandon grabbed her foot holding her in place. "Brandon, let go of my foot. I will kick the shit out of you."
"I can't let you go in," Brandon held tight to her leg as she kept stomping on him with her heels. "Angel's cleaning up the library, it's really messed up." He endured kick after kick until Blaire lifted her sword over his head. He let go of her leg in order to dodge. "Did you just try to cut my head off? Oh hell no," He tried to tackle Blaire. She did a front flip over him, making him break down the door and knock down a bookshelf instead. The book shelf fell on top of Angel pinning him down. The door to the secret library was open, no doubt due to one of Angel's curses.
"Oh Brandon, ever so predictable." Blaire walked into the Library as Angel pried himself free of the bookshelf that fell on him. "Breaking into my father's library, stealing forbidden information, you really fucked up this time Angel." She drew her sword. "I knew you were after my throne," She swung her blade at him, he dodged.
"Blaire, please, I can explain." Angel dodged again as Blaire swung her sword at him once more. "I'm not after your-," She kicked a chair at Angel. He jumped over it, while he was in the air, she grabbed his throat and slammed him down on top of the chair. She tried to cut him with her sword and he rolled out of the way. "I don't want your throne."
"Liar," Blaire tried to slash him, he dodged causing her to cut down a bookshelf instead. "Why else would you be breaking into my father's library? Why else would you steal from me? You lie, that's all you ever do, is lie." She swung her sword once more. He took out a knife and blocked her attack.
"Blaire, I swear," Angel held her in a deadlock. "I don't want your father's throne. Please, I just want to help you." Blaire kicked him in the stomach. She knocked the knife out of his hands and grabbed Angel by his hair, throwing him across the floor. She kept striking him with her sword as he backed up to avoid the attacks. "Blaire, please, let me explain."
"I have had enough of your lies," Blaire tried to jump on top of him. Before she could, Brandon caught her holding her so she couldn't hurt Angel. "Let go of me," She coated her nails in diamond, tearing through Brandon's diamond armor as he tried to keep her from attacking Angel. "You're after my throne, you want to take everything from me, I won't let you, I won't, I won't. Get your hands off me,"
"Don't worry Blaire, I got this." Jayden slashed Brandon in the back with a sword. Once he did, the blade broke and Blaire's eyes widened at the pieces on the floor. She recognized that sword, the dragon designs, that sword.
"I wonder where this leads," Blaire began walking down the hidden staircase. Her red frilled dress moving with her as she went down step by step. "Selene, did you know the castle had secret passages like this? I sure didn't."
"Not a clue, I bet it leads to the treasure vault. Just imagine, if we found where your father kept all his saved up money. The guy controls diamond. I bet it's enough to buy four castles. Speaking of, if your dad has so much money. Why doesn't he build a better castle? He could make a diamond castle if he wanted to. So, why doesn't he?" Selene asked as she carried the burning torch to light their way.
"I asked him," Blaire replied. "He was like just because I have the power to make a diamond castle. Doesn't mean I should, there's a difference between using your gifts and abusing your gifts. I say, it's a load of bullcrap, trust me, if I could shield this entire castle in diamond and use it to fight off werewolves. I totally would, Uncle Grimm would be terrified. I'd make him run with his tail between his legs. We'd win the war for sure."
"I can see it now," Selene adjusted her voice to sound like a news reporter. "The Great Lord Grimm flees in terror as the floating castle chases him. Yes, you heard correct, there is a flying castle shooting blades out of it. I have no idea how this is possible and quite frankly, I'm utterly terrified of this castle. It appears to be led by Blaire, the vampire queen. Now Blaire what inspired you to make this flying castle?"
"I don't know," Blaire shrugged. "I just felt like making a flying castle. Turns out, it was the key to ending the war and securing victory. Who would have thought, all my problems would be solved by a flying castle. Know what, maybe it's a good thing, I didn't get my father's powers. I'd be dangerous."
"Got that right," Selene stopped at a door. "Looks like it leads here, wait a sec," She pressed her ear to the door. "Blaire, come here," She got beside Selene and pressed her ear to the door. She could hear Scythe and Sozin's voice. She could even hear swords clashing. "Are they training?
"Without us," Blaire gasped. "That does it," She kicked the door open. "Master Scythe, how dare you be late for training. I waited three hours for you and you never-," Her eyes lingered on the boy he was training. He had long black hair tied in a mid length ponytail. The sword in his hand had a dragon design on both sides. One dragon had the symbol for Yin on it and the other Yang. His pale green eyes were fixed on Scythe and Sozin as they both attacked him. He kept blocking and dodging trying to get the upper hand but the two of them were too strong for him.
"Too slow," Scythe slashed the boy on the chest leaving a gash. After cutting him, he tripped him with a leg sweep. The boy tried to jump over it but Scythe was too quick for him. "Son, how are you supposed to surpass me with sloppy moves like those? Have I taught you nothing, you need to be faster, think faster, move faster. You're better than this," He sheathed his sword. "We'll do this again tomorrow and it will be a lot harder, you're my son, so act like it."
"Yes father," The boy bowed his head.
"Scythe, he's still young. Lighten up," Sozin scolded.
"I'm sorry, is he your son or is he my son?" Scythe asked him. "I don't need parenting advice from you brother. I also noticed you held back a little. Sozin, how is he going to improve if you keep babying him? Next time, you have a chance to cut him," He glared at his son. "Cut him, so he'll learn."
"Scythe, I didn't know you had a son." Blaire walked up to him. "I'm Blaire, Lord Alexander's daughter and princess to the throne." She held her hand out to him. This boy even though. He had cuts on his cheeks and gash on his chest. He was still quite charming.
"I'm Sai, it's a pleasure to meet you." He took her hand and shook it.
"I'm Selene," Selene took his hand and shook it. "I train with Sozin, he's my mentor."
"Yes and I train with Scythe who is far superior to Sozin in every way." Blaire smirked, Selene elbowed Blaire in the ribs. She elbowed her back. The two of them kept elbowing each other back and forth.
"Back off, he's mine," Blaire whispered to Selene.
"As if, I saw him first." Selene elbowed her.
"That's such a lie, besides even if you did. I'm a princess, every princess deserves a handsome prince. That's my prince." Blaire elbowed her back. He started laughing as the two of them kept elbowing each other secretly fighting over him.
"Is everything okay?" Sai asked. "You two keep hitting each other for some reason." He raised his brow. "I'm a bit concerned."
"Don't be, in fact, Selene was just about to train with Sozin." Blaire smiled pushing Selene over to Sozin. "Isn't that right, Sozin?" She glared at Sozin. He rubbed his chin. "Sozin, you were supposed to train Selene today right?"
"That's true I was, let's go Selene." Sozin dragged Selene from Sai. Blaire waved bye as Selene glared at her realizing what she just did.
"Blaire, this isn't over." Selene yelled.
"I believe it is, so, Sai," Blaire began rubbing his shoulders. "Do you have a girlfriend?"
"Um, no, I don't actually." Sai replied. "To be honest, I've never even been on a date before. My dad says dating is bad and I should only focus on my training." Scythe draped his arm on his son's shoulder.
"That is correct son," Scythe smirked. "Now off you go," He began walking his son out of the training ground. "You need to get healed up so we can train again tomorrow."
"Yes father," Sai left the room.
"Now Blaire, it's time for your training." Scythe glared at her. "I'll start by giving you a demonstration of what would happen if I caught you going near my son." He created a giant lighting dragon and had it glare into Blaire's eyes. It shot a lighting blast destroying the stone pillar beside her. "Do we understand each other?"
"Yes sir, I completely understand. I won't go near your son." Blaire had her fingers crossed behind her back. Like it or not, she was going to try to get with his son. In fact, she was going to see Scythe's son tonight. As soon as her training with Scythe was over, she searched the castle halls for Sai's room. She asked around but nobody knew of him. Scythe had kept the identity a secret from literally everyone except. She went to her father's room to ask him where to find him. Before she could knock, Selene appeared behind her.
"We need to talk and by talk, I mean, we're going to spar. Unless you're too scared to fight me, Blaire." Selene teased. "I mean we both know I'd win." Blaire took out her sword. "Let's go outside, we both know your father doesn't want you fighting others. He's too scared of his precious daughter getting hurt."
"The only person getting hurt is you," Blaire began heading outside with Selene. By now, Sozin and Scythe were in their rooms. The castle was quiet and all the vampires had retired to their rooms for the remainder of the night. Sneaking out was all too easy, though, their match had to be quick the sun was about to come out and once that happened. They'd both be dead, if the sun didn't kill them. Their masters would.
"Let's do this," Selene charged at Blaire. The two of them kept exchanging blows. Blaire had the upper hand seeing as she was wielding a sword and Selene wasn't. Her advantage over Selene faded when she ducked and knocked Blaire's sword out of her hand. Just as she was about punch Blaire. She blocked and punched Selene, sending her tumbling across the ground.
"That's right, you're not the only one who's good at hand to hand. I've learned some tricks." Blaire picked up her sword. "Now, let's finish this." They were just about to clash only to hear someone clapping. The two of them stopped and looked over at the person clapping. It was Sai, he had caught them sparring together.
"It seems Sozin and Scythe taught you two well," Sai drew his sword. "Let's see you two fight me," Blaire smirked and charged at him. He locked swords with her and pushed her back. While she was backing up. He took out throwing stars and threw them at her. She deflected the stars. Once she did, he appeared above her. Just as he was about to cut her with his sword. Selene jumped in by throwing a vial of her blood at them.
The explosion blasted them both back, the smoke from the explosion blinded them. Selene hoped to take advantage but Sai spun his blade like a fan sucking up the smoke. The second the smoke was clear. He charged at Selene with his sword. She kept dodging only to be hit by a leg sweep. While she was falling, he kicked her into the air. While she was in the air. He grabbed her, rolled into a ball and slammed her into the ground. He went to hold his hidden blade to her throat but Selene caught his arm and rolled on top of him. Just as she was about to secure the win, Blaire tried to cut her with her sword. Selene backed up releasing Sai.
Sai sprung to his feet. The second he got up. The two girls glanced over at each other and back at him. "I know what you're thinking and don't do it. Two on one is not a fair-," The two of them ran at him. He kept blocking and evading their joint attacks. "Now Ladies, Ladies,"
The sun began to peak through the mountains. It's faint light shone on all three of them. "Uh oh," Sai checked his arm to see a burn on it. He quickly grabbed Blaire and Selene and went back to the castle before the sun burned them any further. When he got there, they started laughing. "It's not funny, how am I going to explain this?" He pointed at his burnt arm. "To my father."
"Relax, it's not a big deal." Selene laughed. "See," She pointed at his burn. Once he was in the shadows. It immediately started to heal. "Your father won't find out as long as you don't tell him."
"Same time tomorrow?" Blaire asked.
"Sure," Sai shrugged. "I'd be down to spar with you two again besides. We never finished our fight. So it's more of a, "to be continued." type thing." Blaire and Selene laughed. The two of them walked away.
"Okay, so, it looks like we have a problem to deal with." Selene spoke. "I like Sai and you like Sai. So, how do we settle this?" She crossed her arms. "We can't both be his girlfriend."
"I suppose you're right," Blaire agreed. "Well, thank you Selene for stepping aside and letting me date Sai. You're such a good friend. I mean, it's clear, as Lord Alexander's daughter I should be the one to date my father's best friend's son. Like Scythe serves my father, Sai shall serve me thanks for understanding."
"I understand nothing," Selene argued. "I'm not just about to let you have him. I have just as much as a chance at dating him as you do. In fact, I bet he likes me more." She smirked.
"No, he likes me more." Blaire yelled.
"Of all the swords Scythe has that could have been broken." Blaire's eyes lingered on the broken sword. Tears began to build in her eyes. "Why did it have to be yours?" A tear drop hit the floor.
"So, Sai, I know you said you've never had a girlfriend before." Blaire stood next to him as he laid underneath a tree admiring the stars. "So, I was wondering if you had a girlfriend. What would she be like?"
"I never really gave it much thought." Sai answered. "I suppose if I were to picture her. I'd say she'd have to be a healer. There's nothing hotter than a woman who knows how to tend to her man's wounds. I'd come home from a long battle, scars all over my body. I'd be aching in pain but knowing when I come home. There's a woman there waiting to heal me from all my scars. It's comforting, so she'd have to heal for sure."
"A healer huh?" Blaire rubbed her chin.
The next day Blaire and Selene bursted into Patience's room. She was sitting down brushing her hair. "Can I help you?" Patience raised her brow.
"Teach me to heal." Selene spoke,
"No, teach me to heal." Blaire glared at Selene. "You dirty little eavesdropper."
"So what, I was going to ask him that anyway." Selene spat back. "Patience as your sister, I demand to be taught healing right now."
"Patience as your princess, I order you to teach me to heal." Blaire growled. "You will not steal Sai from me, he's mine."
"Wait, are you two fighting over a boy?" Patience gasped. "Is he cute, I bet he is, I should totally meet him." Blaire and Selene shifted their gaze to Patience. Their eyes filled with murderous intent.
"Or not," She turned her head. "No worries, you two can just ask Sozin. He'll sign you guys for a healing class no problem. Just think, we'll be learning healing together. I'll be bonding with my sister." She hugged Selene.
"I bet I'll be a better healer than you." Selene glared at Blaire.
"As if," Blaire rolled her eyes. "Sozin is Scythe's brother, which means. I can get private lessons because guess what. My father is the king."
Blaire saw flashes of herself practicing healing. Selene was there beside her. The two of them became so competitive. Sometimes, she'd forget they were doing it for Sai. The three of them would still go out and spar everyday. Until, one night, Sai didn't show.
"Sai," Blaire knocked on his bedroom door. She could hear sobbing from behind the door. She opened the door and walked inside. There was a broken mask on the floor left in pieces. The mask reminded her of a cat face with whiskers and some kind of drawing on it. He was sitting on the floor by it, crying. The second he saw her, he wiped the tears from his eyes. "What's wrong?" She sat next to him. "You bailed on training."
"Yeah, my father found out about it. It upset him," Sai explained. "He also found my mask and well, look at it, it's broken. I made that myself and he just shattered it. He doesn't care about me, I'm just some way for him to honor his stupid family." He took his sword and threw it at the wall. "I hate swords, I hate Samurai, I hate everything about being Scythe's son."
"I get it," Blaire glanced over at him. "It sucks when your father is famous. People expect you to live up to his glory and to be as great as he is. You're constantly being buried by his shadow and you feel like no matter how hard you try. You can never be as great as he is. It's exactly how I feel." She let out a sigh. "Don't get me wrong I love my father, but, the more people look up to him. The harder it is for me to fill in his shoes. The only way I'm able to even try to catch up is by being his perfect little princess. Doing everything he says, walk how he tells me to walk, speak how he tells me to speak and dress how he wants me to dress. I do all of these things if only so when I'm Queen I can live up to my father's expectations but inside. I'm screaming and he doesn't care, he ignores it because it's what's best for the kingdom."
"I hate wearing dresses," Blaire added. "I hate not being allowed to fight others. The only person I'm allowed to spar with is Scythe. I have to sneak out to train with Selene. To be honest, the only time I feel like myself is when I'm fighting. When I'm fighting, I don't have to wear a dress, when I'm fighting, I can talk how I want to talk, move how I want to move, I feel strong, I feel lighter, I feel less,"
"Trapped," Sai picked up a broken piece of the mask. "You know, I don't like seeing you around the castle. I hate seeing you in a dress, I hate that forced smile because that's not you." He walked over to his sword and picked it up. "This is you." Blaire gasped as her dress fell to pieces revealing the outfit she was wearing underneath. "This shirt," He pointed at her long sleeve black shirt. "Those pants." He pointed at the black pants. "That's what I'm used to seeing, the bad ass, bitch who'd punch a guy with a diamond coated fist. The chick who'd pull out a sword and clash with the best of ‘em. The woman who isn't afraid too remind people why nobody fucks with her. That's the Blaire I like, that's the Blaire I'd like to see as a Queen. This perfect princess stuff, who wants a Queen who is basically a placeholder for the throne. I don't want that, I want a Queen who is out there fighting with us."
"Yeah, well, that's the Blaire my father wants." Blaire turned her head. "If I could, I'd switch places with you. If Scythe was my father and all he asked of me was to be stronger than him. At least then, I'd be able to fight whoever I want, I wouldn't be sheltered. I'd be treated as a warrior."
"It's not as easy as you think." Sai stood up and removed his shirt. Blaire's eyes widened. His toned chest and abs were covered in cuts. He had a long cut on his back that went diagonally across. "Everyday, I fight my father, he doesn't use a wooden sword. He uses a real one. Everyday, he expects me to be stronger and stronger. Every time, I fail to beat my father. He comes at me even stronger. He doesn't show any restraint. He even asks Sozin to help him because he wants me to be stronger than both of them." He sat down next to her. "Everyday, I get new cuts, new scars. Sometimes, It takes weeks to heal from it. But I don't get a week to heal, I get a day if I'm lucky. It's not easy, it's fucking torture."
Blaire noticed a bleeding cut on his arm, it was fresh. A new scar from Scythe. She coated her hands in a light blue aura healing the cut for him. Once he sat there watching her heal him. Her lips formed a slight smirk. He placed his knuckle underneath her chin taking her sight off his wound and instead into pale green eyes. His lips were starting to get closer to hers just as they were about to touch. A knock was heard on his door.
"I have to go," Sai grabbed his shirt and put it on. "Let's make a promise. Once one of us cuts our own path and finds their own way to break free of their father's shadow. The other does it too. I don't want to be like my father and neither do you. So, let's break free together. What do you say?"
"I'll do it," Blaire agreed. "If you stand up to your father then I'll stand up to mine." He stood at the door waiting. His eyes locked with hers. "I promise." She added, he nodded and left to train with his father.
"Stop it," Blaire tightened her hand into a fist. "You promised yourself you wouldn't cry over him anymore." A flash struck her mind as she saw herself walking down the grand staircase. The castle was decorated like a giant ballroom. She was wearing a red ball gown.
Blaire was dressed up to celebrate her birthday. Not only that, she had finally made it into her father's army. She was in the medical unit but it was a start and she'd be there with Selene. Granted, it wouldn't be just them. Her eyes lingered on Sai as he stood at the end of the staircase. He was wearing a black suit and tie. He held out his hand, she took it allowing him to help her down the last step.
"You said all you wanted for your birthday is me," Sai whispered. "So, here I am." He walked her over to the dance floor. The two of them danced together, his movement slow, his hand on her waist. "Though, did you have to make me wear a suit?"
"If I have to suffer and wear a dress. Then, I'm taking everyone with me. Just be glad you're not in a dress." Blaire teased. He chuckled as the two of them continued to dance. She rested her head on his shoulder. "Besides, you look good in a suit."
"Thanks but we both know this isn't my style." Sai twirled her. "It's not yours either." He ran his fingers through her hair. "We'll be on the battlefield tomorrow. You with the medical unit and me in the frontlines." Blaire shut her eyes picturing him up there fighting. She still couldn't see him fighting on the frontlines. The amount of risks that were involved, Sai was young and to put him out there like that. What if- "Hey, don't worry about me. I trained with the two strongest swordsmen this castle has to offer. I'll be fine." He assured her. "Sozin will sign the paper tonight, he promised me he would. So I can be out there with you and Selene."
"Yeah but you won't be with us." Blaire argued, "You'll be in the frontlines and we'll be stuck in a tent healing the wounded. We'd be so far away from each other. The only way I'd see you is if you got hurt and I'd rather that not happen."
"Then think of it this way," Sai smirked. "If you don't see me on the battlefield. It only means I'm doing alright. I'm out there fighting and giving it my all. I promise, Blaire, I'll be fine. I'm not as fragile as you think." Even so, she just didn't trust it. "Maybe this will make you feel better about me going." He pressed his lips against Blaire's. As he was kissing her, she felt his hand touch her cheek. "I'll be fine, I promise." She nodded. "Besides, I have a promise to keep." He glanced over at his father. "Remember if I stand up to my father, you stand up to yours. I'm not about to die before that happens. Now what do you say we skip this lame ball and do some training?"
"I thought you'd never ask," Blaire and Sai snuck out of the castle together. She took his hand as he led her out into the forest. "This looks like a good spot," She went to draw her sword. The two of them have been training together in secret for months. She asked him to teach her so that she could be strong enough to fight for herself. She didn't want to cower behind a throne like her father. She wanted to be out there fighting and Scythe's training alone wasn't going to be enough. She needed someone who wasn't afraid to hurt her, someone who wasn't afraid to push the boundaries. She needed him.
"Wait," Sai stopped her. "You are my first student and I may not like my father but there are some traditions I do respect." He walked over to a nearby tent that he made. He kept all of his ninja gear and equipment safe inside this tent. His father didn't want him using them saying it was a disgrace to their family lineage. The tent was well hidden for if his father found it, he'd destroy it.
"Here," He came out holding a sword, the sheath was carved with multiple Kanjis. "I know when I'm out there fighting on the frontlines. You'll be in a medical tent healing the wounded. But still, I'd feel better if you had this to protect you. Since I won't be there." He placed the sheath in her hands.
"Sai," Blaire pulled the blade out of the sheath. The blade had a serpent dragon moving across it. Its body was covered in Kanjis each representing an element. It was made of fine silver but once she touched it. It became covered in diamonds. "You made this for me," She sheathed the sword.
"Yeah, it's better than my father's enchantment technique. He might be able to enchant a single sword with an ability like a sword that wields fire. But using Kanjis like the ones I taught you, allows you to. Well, go on, give it a swing." Sai encouraged, "You'll see what I'm talking about."
"If you say so," Blaire shut her eyes. She thought of burning flames. All of the Kanjis on the dragon switched to fire. She was instantly holding a flame sword. She thought of lighting the kanji's switched and she was holding a lighting sword. "So instead of having a bunch of swords using one element I have a sword that uses them all."
"Yep," Sai smirked. "Pretty impressive right?" She nodded. "Yet my father still thinks my ninja training is useless but if it's so useless. How come I can use it to not only duplicate his ability to control whatever he cuts but make it better. Scythe has to cut fire to control it, you don't, you just have to think fire and it happens. Let's see a samurai top that." Blaire hugged him.
"Thank you so much," Blaire hugged him. "Though, since Kanjis are a ninja thing. I probably shouldn't let Scythe see my sword. He'll know you made it and you'll get in trouble." She sheathed the sword. "It sucks being the only one with ninja training because everyone will know it was you."
"Yeah, it does suck." Sai took out his sword. "Alright, now that you got your sword. Let's put it to the test. You vs me and I'm not going easy on you. I can't, not with that sword." Blaire took out her new sword and charged at him.
"You're mine," Blaire went to slash him, he blocked her attack. Her sword became coated in flame and she shot a fire dragon at him. He jumped over it, landed in front of her and kept striking her. She blocked her with her sword. He shot a thick layer of smoke out of his mouth, trapping her in a smoke screen. "Resorting to ninja tactics, you're not joking. You really aren't holding back."
"Like I'd ever lie to you." Sai threw ninja stars at her. She deflected them. "The trap has been set." He used a hand sign. The smoke screen began swirling, becoming a tornado. The sharp ninja stars were caught in the winds and were cutting her as she was trapped inside the tornado. Blaire coated herself in healing to reduce the damage. She jammed her sword into the ground. A giant dragon came out of the ground beneath Sai's feet prepared to eat him. He jumped out of the way. While he was in the air. Blaire shot a water dragon at him. He dodged while in the air using the Kanji for wind to manipulate the wind around his body allowing him to move out of the way. The dragon swooped around. He threw a kunai at the dragon causing it to break into water droplets. He floated down landing gently on his feet as if he were flying.
"Did you just-"
"I sure did," Sai spun his sword in his hand. The rotation caused a whirlwind of blades to fly at her. Blaire charged through the and locked swords with him in order to stop the rotation of his sword. He kept trying to break free but Blaire kept him locked. He couldn't move his sword. He tried to step back, she stepped forward refusing to let go. The two of them glared into each other's eyes as she realized. She had him in a stalemate. "I can't take it anymore, Princess or not," He knocked her sword out of her hand. Blaire's sword was on the ground. He had defeated her but the kiss that came after was. Sensational. "I want you," He grabbed her, pulling her closer as he kissed her. There was no time to think.
Blaire grabbed his buttoned up shirt and tore it open. She pushed him down and climbed on top as their lips connected again and again. She could feel it, his need to take her, his desire to make her his. This was it, her chance to have him. She wouldn't deny that need, she'd give herself to him if only to have him as her prince. He took a hidden blade cutting her free of her dress. She stood before him wearing only her black bra and panties.
The pieces of her garment were all over the forest and she didn't care. The precision of the cuts, the speed, this boy, no, this man had to-. She hitched a moan as he pinned her to the grass. His hands squeezed her concealed breasts while his hips. Oh those hips, so strong, she needed to feel more of him.
"Sai, I want you to be my first." Blaire whispered these words in his ear. He nodded and with a jerk off his belt. His pants fell to the floor. Just as he was about to reach into her panties. She saw diamond swords floating above them.
"That is enough," Lord Alexander's eyes burned with rage. The sword became chains restricting Sai's hands and pulling him off her. "You dare defile my daughter. She is your future queen and you will show her respect." He threw Sai clear across the forest. He walked over to her. "Daughter, forgive my lateness, if I had known this boy would take advantage of you." The servants ran up and provided her with a robe to cover herself.
"Father, he wasn't taking advantage of me." Blaire argued. "I wanted him to, everything he did, it was what I wanted. He didn't do anything wrong." Her father ignored her and walked toward Sai as he fought to get up.
"My lord, I swear, I wasn't-," Before Sai could get another word out. Lord Alexander struck him with a backhand. The impact knocked him into his tent causing it to fall revealing all of his ninja gear and tools.
"Lord Alexander what's going on he-," Scythe's eyes burned with rage. The moment he saw that his son had defied him. Sai had went behind his back to hide all the things Scythe didn't want him using. "I thought I told you, you were no longer to use those tools. Ninjas are a rival to our clan and the fact you continue to use their teachings." He tightened his grip on his sword. "I've tried to be reasonable, I've allowed you to have friends and I gave you the opportunity to be a part of this family. I pulled strings to help get you into Lord Alexander's army. All I ask is that you abide by my rules, but since you can't get rid of these things yourself." A large fire dragon appeared behind Scythe. "I'll do it for you."
"Father, no," Sai yelled. His eyes filled with tears as the flames consumed all of his things. "Those were my mothers. You son of a," He saw a pair of ninja daggers beside him. He picked them up and ran at his father. He tried to slash his father but he blocked him. "That was all I had of her and you destroyed it."
"Ninja weapons, you're defying me again." Scythe kicked Sai back. "That is enough, you pick up your sword and use it right now. We don't use daggers in this family." Sai refused to listen and kept attacking his father. "You ungrateful child, I pass everything I know onto you and you still choose them." He knocked his son's dagger out of his hand. "If you won't cast aside your mother's teachings, then, I'll just have to cut your hands off so you'll never wield a weapon again." Sai rolled, picked up his dagger and blocked his father's blade.
"I'd like to see you try it," Sai shot a smokescreen out of his mouth. The smoke blinded Scythe, while he couldn't see. Sai remained in the shadows, cutting his father in the back. "Now it's your turn to suffer." He tried to cut his father, Scythe dodged at the last second and tripped his son. He rolled across the floor and did a hand sign. He kept attacking his father, Blaire's eyes widened seeing four. Sai was moving so fast, for every one attack she saw. There was three going on behind it. It was like blocking four attacks at once. "Is this quick enough for you father, no, you want me to be quicker, fine, I'll be quicker." Blaire saw more and more shadows of Sai appear, the amount of speed this guy had it was. He might even be faster than Scythe.
"That is enough," Scythe did a quick slash cutting through his son's attacks. Sai fell over as blood dripped from his stomach. "I'm your father, if I say no more ninja tactics. That means no more ninja tactics. It's a coward's way of fighting and it's a disgrace to your lineage. But since you refuse to listen." Sai was forced to stand as his father controlled the blood in his body. "I see no point in keeping you alive."
"Then get it over with," Sai glared at his father. "If I'm such a disgrace then kill me already. It's better than being your son." A dragon appeared being made from his blood. Once struck, the dragon would suck all the blood from his body and kill him then return that blood to his father to restore him. "Go on, do it, kill me, you got the balls for that dad. Who's a coward now? Do it, I said, DO IT."
The dragon charged at Sai. He glared at Scythe even as Scythe freed him, giving him a chance to dodge. He refused. He was going to let Scythe kill him. The dragon was moving faster only inches away from contact before. Sozin appeared, slashing the dragon. The dragon exploded, firing blood all over Sozin's robe. The blood dripped from his sword as he glared at his brother for trying to kill his nephew.
"I didn't ask you to save me." Sai walked off.
"Scythe, what the hell is the matter with you?" Sozin sheathed his sword. "He's the youngest in our clan. He's the next generation. You talk about how you always wanted someone to take your place. Well guess what. Sai's the answer, he's your kid and you tried to kill him." Lord Alexander went to speak. But of course, with Sozin able to read minds there was no need for him to. "Sai, did not take advantage of Blaire. So, you can just cut the bullshit Alex. Selene and Blaire both have been chasing that boy relentlessly and if you paid attention you'd know that. So if he decides to act on it. They started it so don't blame my nephew for anything."
"What he said." Blaire pointed at Sozin.
"Not now, Blaire, I need to deal with my brother." Sozin glared at Scythe. "I'm relieving you of your duties. I will train Sai from here on out and if you go anywhere near him. You'll be dealing with me. You might be strong but don't forget. I was taught by Soren you weren't. So unless you want that training to come out. I suggest you back the fuck up. Now excuse me," He picked up Sai's sword. "I'm going to find my student and try to fix the mess you," He pointed at Scythe. "Caused." He stormed off holding Sai's sword in his hand.
Later that night, Blaire was walking down the halls of the castle. She could hear her father talking with his troops. She hid in the shadows, listening in on the conversation. "You have your orders," Lord Alexander whispered.
"Yes sir," The commander saluted him. "Though sir, not that I'd question your orders but it's just I'm a bit concerned. You see, Sai hasn't been given the approval to join us yet and if he does join us. You want us to abandon him. Sir, if we do that, he'll die. We've received word that a full moon is scheduled to occur during our battle. The werewolves will be at their strongest and if we leave a new recruit out there by himself. He'll-,"
"That's the point," Lord Alexander added. "Sai tried to rape my daughter. If he is not killed on the battlefield. You will be. Do we understand each other?" He glared at the commander.
"Yes sir," He started to walk away.
"Oh and be sure Sozin doesn't find out about the full moon. I need him to sign those papers. If he doesn't, I won't be able to ensure Sai's death. Also, we wouldn't want Scythe to know of this plan either. It'd ruin our friendship." He walked up and handed the commander a bag full of diamonds. "You'll get more once you've carried out your orders. I assure you the pay raise will be worth the sacrifice."
"It better be," The commander walked away.
"I have to stop this," Blaire ran into Sozin's room. He was just about to sign the document that would allow Sai to fight on the frontlines. "You can't sign that paper, you and I both know Sai's not ready to fight on the frontlines."
"He is ready, Scythe and I both trained him. Besides," Sozin rose to his feet. "He needs to go out there and show my brother what ninja training can do. It's the only way he'll be able to reach his father and earn his respect. Think of the possibilities, Sai goes out there using everything he's learned from our clan and that ninja clan. Sai could become commander of the first assaination unit. This is huge for him. I can't not sign this paper, I already promised him I would."
"But what if dies," Blaire argued, "What would happen then? All of that training would be for nothing. If this opportunity is such a huge deal for him. Don't you think it's better to wait until you're absolutely sure he's ready. You're asking him to take on a commander role but he's fresh out of training. Yes, Sai is strong, he's incredible but he's still too young to be taking on those responsibilities and you're not even sure he wants that. For once, Sozin, listen to me. I know I've done a lot of mean things to you but if you sign that paper. You'll regret it for the rest of your life." Sozin set the pen down.
Once he did, Her father and Scythe walked into the room. "Sozin, why haven't you signed the permission slip?" Lord Alexander asked. "I was told it would be signed today. This is the deadline, either you sign it as his master or Sai doesn't go. You realize both Selene and my daughter have both been given permission to go. Sai would be devastated if he doesn't get to be on the battlefield with them."
"He'll just have to be mad at me." Sozin crossed his arms. "Sometimes, you've got to risk being the bad guy in order to do the right thing. Sai may hate me for it but it's in his best interest to wait this one out. There'll be other chances for him to join. Even if it means he'll be apart from Blaire and Selene. I've got to do what's best for him. It's called being a good parent." He glared at Scythe. "So, I'm not signing it." He slid the blank paper over to Lord Alexander.
"Well luckily for us, you don't need to sign it." Scythe picked up the pen. "I refuse to let my son sit this fight out. We've worked too hard on his training and it's time to see the fruits of our labor." He signed the paper and handed it to Lord Alexander. "You have the signature of his father, that should suffice." The two of them left Sozin's room.
"Scythe," Sozin yelled. "You're making a huge mistake." He went to chase after him but Scythe was way ahead and Lord Alexander had already accepted his signature. "He's not ready." He yelled. "Damn it, Brother," He struck the wall leaving a crack. "Why doesn't he ever listen to me?" He glanced over at Blaire. "I'm sorry, the paper's been signed. There's nothing I can do." He might not be able to do anything but Blaire hasn't given up. She'd protect Sai even if it cost her life.
Blaire's eyes remained on the broken sword. The dragon carvings in pieces, each piece a reminder of what was lost to her forever. On that battlefield, Sai gained a name for himself. He succeeded in proving himself to his father, to Sozin, to everyone. But at what cost...She shut her eyes.
Blaire remained in the healing tent with Selene. The entire time she sat there healing the wounded. She wanted to leave to be out there helping Sai. The full moon, once it set, she knew her world would turn upside down. Sai would be left on the battlefield alone and he'd die there, alone with no one to help him. Abandoned to be slaughtered by Lord Grimm's wolves.
"Don't worry, Sai will be fine," Selene spoke as she healed a wounded vampire. "He's stronger than both of us." She was trying to cheer her up. But, Selene didn't know what her father was going to do to Sai. Even if she told her, Selene wouldn't believe her. Nobody would, her father is their beloved king. They trusted him with their lives and anyone who tried to speak out against him was ignored. It'd be no different for her, daughter or not. She was on her own.
"Selene, listen to me, I have to get on that battlefield." Blaire whispered. "If one of us doesn't go out there and help him. He'll die, he needs us." Sozin peaked into the tent checking in on them. She turned her focus to healing a wounded vampire.
"Look," Selene fixed her hair. "I want to get out there and fight just as much as you." She continued healing the vampire. "Just because I'm good at healing doesn't mean I want to sit here in a tent healing people. I was taught to fight. I should be out there fighting but instead I'm stuck in here healing. But this is what we were assigned to do. Besides, Sozin will never let us go out there. The guy is determined to keep us here in this stupid tent."
"I for one like being in this tent." Patience added. "We're safe and protected. Not to mention, we're helping people. I'd rather do this than to put my life at risk by going out there and fighting. We're better off staying put besides," She lowered her voice. "There are some cute guys here, we're like their sexy nurse."
"I'm nobody's sexy nurse," Blaire glared at her. "I'm Lord Alexander's daughter, I should be chopping heads off with my sword. Not wasting my time in this stupid tent." Right now, Sai was out there fighting, putting his very life at risk. Every second she wasted here was another second closer to the full moon and Sai's death. She had to get out of this tent somehow.
"That does it," Selene walked up to the head healer. "Permission to go out to the field. I'm better off being a field medic. I have combat experience and I can heal. I scored the highest in that field and I'm requesting permission to go and do what I'm best at."
"From the looks of it, we could use a field medic." She replied. "But Sozin said I wasn't allowed to send you, Blaire or Patience out. I'm sorry, I have to do what he says."
"Look mother, are you the head medic or is Sozin?" Selene asked. "You have been a healer for many years even before Sozin discovered the healing trait. He might have created the healing art but you know how to do this better than he does. This is your speciality not his, it's your call, you're his boss. So be his boss and send me out there."
"We do need a field medic and it would be best to send you." She let out a sigh. "You're right, I'm your mother and I know what I'm doing. I was put in charge of this, not him. So I'm going to give Sozin a piece of my mind." She walked out of the tent. "Hey Sozin I thought it over and I'm sending Selene out."
"Like hell you are, that is my student." Sozin argued.
"That is my daughter," She yelled. "I'm also your boss." She reminded him. "You're supposed to guard the tent that's it. I'm supposed to control what goes on inside the tent. So if I decide to send my daughter out as a field medic. Guess what, Sozin, she's going to go out there because I fucking said so."
"I fucking said no." Sozin yelled back. "I swear if one more parent decides to pull the parent card on me. I'm going to lose it. First Scythe does it now you want to do it too. What's next is Alex going to come up here and be like. Blaire's my daughter, I want her to leave the tent too. No, okay, just no, did you train Selene?" He asked. "Did you teach Selene how to fight? No I taught Selene how to fight. I'm the one who had to spend hours with that girl teaching her to throw a punch. I'm the one who taught that girl what she knows. So you're telling me just because you're her mother. I'm supposed to trust that you know what's best for someone I trained. Well excuse me, I just thought I don't know. Since I've fought out there before. I'd know what I'm talking about. Instead of some stupid medic who thinks they know better than me."
"Selene, go," Her mother ordered. Selene took off running out of the tent.
"You see, this is why Soren chose not to be king. Because he didn't want to be surrounded by people who never listen to him." Sozin yelled. "If Selene dies because of you, I swear-," This is her chance, Blaire took out her sword. She created an earth dragon tearing through the tent and charging to the frontlines. Sozin ducked as the dragon flew over him. "Oh great, now Blaire's gone too. That's just great, Alex is going to kill me. Patience, do you want to leave too?" He asked.
"No, I'm good." She replied.
"Well at least one person listens to me."
The clouds were beginning to part, revealing more of the moon. Soon, the full moon will be upon them and Sai will be dead. "I have to hurry," Blaire drew her sword as the dragon flew over her father's army. They were battling Lord Grimm's wolves, their silver weapons clashing with their sharp claws. Guards screaming as wolves tore into their bodies. The more casualties she saw, the more she worried, hoping she'd reach Sai in time.
Once Blaire reached the frontlines. Her pale brown eyes wandered the battlefield in search of Sai. By the time she found him, the full moon had set. Lord's Grimm's army were all turning into werewolves, hundreds and hundreds of werewolves. The beasts unleashed their howl and in their blind rage attacked. Her father's army was being ripped apart.
"Commander help," That yell, it was..- Sai was on the battlefield being swarmed by werewolves. He was cutting his way through them. Only to be tackled and held down by five werewolves. He kept struggling to get free as their claws cut at his flesh. One was about to bite his neck, before it could, he took out a hidden blade and stabbed it through the jaw. He crawled away trying to get free as the werewolves claws kept digging into his skin.
The commander stood there watching as Sai was being mauled by wolves. "Everyone fall back," He ordered. Sai's eyes widened, the troops began leaving the battlefield. The commander turned his back to Sai and left him to fight a horde of wolves by himself.
"Commander, wait," Sai called out. "I need your help." He kicked a werewolf off him. More wolves jumped on top of him trying to rip him apart. "Fine, if you won't help me, then, I'll just help myself." His sword split into two short swords. He used the swords to cut himself free of the wolves. He tried to run but was surrounded by Lord Grimm's army. He leapt into the air while in the air. Two dragons formed next to his two blades. One was black, the other white. Once he landed, the two dragons spiraled around him and exploded blasting the wolves back. The dragons reformed as Sai cut his way through Lord Grimm's army chunk after chunk.
"You want me," Sai glared at the wolves. The two dragons created a huge circle behind him creating a portal. He jumped through it, appearing in the air above them. "Come and," He took out a bunch of Kunai. "Get me," He threw them all, striking them with a falling rain of kunai. Blaire watched in amazement as Sai took out chunks and Lord Grimm's army trying to fight his way back to the medical tents.
"Don't worry Sai, I'm-," Blaire's eyes shot open even as she was in the air. She only reached the werewolf's knee. The size of this beast that stood before her. She glanced up as it's blood red eyes were set on Sai. "No," She charged at the wolf. The earth dragon she was on exploded but barely did any damage. The wolf was just about to step on her only to be struck by a barrage of explosive vials of blood. The wolf backed up and glared at Selene.
"Selene, what are you doing here?" Sai asked.
"Isn't it obvious, I'm saving your ass." Selene's eye's got big as the wolf stomped its foot. The earth shook and knocked her off balance. "You want a piece of me, come and get it." She took out more vials, throwing them. The wolf ignored the damage walking closer. Selene couldn't hurt it. But, she could.
Blaire created a fire dragon striking the wolf in the back. The flames ignited the beasts fur catching it on fire. "Leave my friends alone," She kept striking it again and again using flame dragon after flame dragon. She used an earth dragon to fly to the beast's chest. "You want to fight someone, fight me," She hit him with a giant fire dragon, a giant water dragon, a giant lighting dragon, and a giant wind dragon. With each hit, the beast was losing balance. She charged at him with the earth dragon. Before she could reach him. The wolf swatted her like a fly sending her flying back. She coated herself in diamond to reduce the damage but as she hit the ground. Her body tore through it and her sword hit the ground next to her. Blaire fought to get up even with diamond protecting her .The wolf was still too strong. He ate through it like it was nothing. She coated her hand in healing, treating the bruises left on her body. Her eyes were beginning to close as her consciousness was slipping.
When she came to, Blaire immediately picked up her sword and raced over to help Sai and Selene. But by the time, she got there. It was too late. She felt a lump in her throat and tears started to build in her eyes. Selene was covered in blood, shaking as if she was cold. She couldn't speak or move, Selene was just sitting there like a statue. "He's gone," Selene finally found the strength to stand and began walking back to the castle making steady steps.
"No," Blaire fell to her knees as tears fled her eyes. There was nothing but a pile of blood on the floor and a crushed corpse on the ground. Beside the giant wolf print was a rusted sword with knicks on the blade. The designs on the blade, she knew them. If this blade was here then Sai was, Sai was, she looked at the crushed corpse on the ground. The giant wolf was walking away, its paw still covered in his blood. Lord Grimm had sounded the retreat but this war wasn't over, this fight wasn't over. She'd kill that wolf. She drew her sword.
"Get back here," Blaire screamed at the top of her lungs. She was surrounded by hundreds of dragons each wielding a different element. They swirled together being infused with diamond. She fired the one giant dragon at the wolf. The beast turned around being struck in the chest. The beast was knocked off its feet as the dragon dragged it through the ground and exploded leaving diamond shards everywhere. The wolf shrunk being left somewhere in the woods. She lifted her sword, more dragons came from the sky each one directed at that forest. Before she could swing, her father grabbed her arm. "Let me do it, let me kill him. He killed Sai, he killed Sai, he has to pay, he has to, Father let go of my arm."
"Yes brother, let her kill Alejandro and see what I do to her." Lord Grimm stepped forward. "I'd hate for your daughter to be killed but if she kills one of mine, she's fair game. We promised to spare our kids and I'd hate to break that promise." He grinned. "Little girl, you and I both know it wasn't me who killed him. I believe that blame falls on your father. Interesting move, falling back and leaving that boy to fight my army by himself. It's almost like," Lord Alexander glared at his brother. "You wanted him to die. I was just giving you what you wanted." He turned his back to his brother. He walked away.
"He's right," Blaire jerked her arm free of her father's grasp. "You did this, you killed him." She pushed him back. "How could you?" She pushed him again. "I loved him, I would have died for him and you sacrificed him for what?" She yelled. "He didn't rape me father, he was innocent and you killed him for it."
"Blaire, I was only trying to protect you." Lord Alexander explained.
"From what father?" Blaire yelled louder. "From love, from finding my prince, from finally being happy. Is that what you wanted to protect me from?" She glared at him. "I stood by your side and supported every decision you made. Even when you had the chance to end this war, I forgave you for letting Lord Grimm escape. But this, I will never forgive you for this. I swear when I'm Queen, I will never be like you. I will spend my entire life making you wish I was never born. That is your punishment for murdering someone I love." He went to escort her back to the castle but she took out her sword. "Don't touch me," She warned. "Another thing, unlike you, someone who doesn't have the balls to kill his brother. I won't hesitate. He asked for this father. He wanted this war and if you don't finish it. I will. Now if you'll excuse me I'll be in my room." She walked off.
For years, Her father has tried to earn her forgiveness but he never apologized. No, instead of admitting his actions were wrong. He chooses to spoil her, throwing suitors her way hoping to replace Sai. Giving her own elite team, giving her whatever she wants. All of these things were just dirt being piled on Sai's grave. Hoping she'd forget and one day forgive. But she won't, the anger she felt that day will never fade. She'd hate him for the rest of her life. There was no fixing it. Part of her died that day. The sweet kind daughter her father knew and loved was dead. All that exists now is the daughter that hates him and will always hate him.
"My son's sword," Scythe's jaw dropped.
"Oh shit," Fate covered his mouth. "Scythe, I didn't know you had a son." He glanced over at Scythe. "Know what, it's fine. We'll just deal with this later, right now we need to get you out of here before you kill Jayden."
"He broke my son's sword." Scythe was being led away by Fate.
"Wait, this sword is-," Jayden glanced down at the broken pieces. "I had no idea Scythe had a son. Where is he, is he alive?" He asked. Blaire tightened her hand into a fist.
"Brandon," Blaire spoke calmly. "Let go of me or I'll kill you." Brandon removed his arms from around her stomach and backed away. The moment she was free, she coated her fist in diamond and punched Jayden in the jaw. He struck a bookcase knocking it down. While he was on the floor, she grabbed his shirt, lifting him in the air with one arm. "I don't know where you found the balls to use that sword. But," She glared deep into Jayden's eyes. "I will promise you that if I can't fix that sword. You won't have any balls left because I will chop them off." She dropped him on the floor and picked up the broken sword.
While Selene was still gathering all the men who disappeared the night of the Lunar Ball. Well all of them except for Angel. Blaire was certain Angel didn't have a hand in this. He'd never go as far as to sleep with the enemy. He knew better. Besides, he knows she'd kill him. That fear alone should be enough to prevent him from impregnating a werewolf. While she waited for Selene to finish gathering the men. She waited by Sai's grave.
The grave was built where his old tent used to be. The sword he made her was stabbed into the ground resembling his headstone. She'd have servants place fresh flowers there everyday. However, this time, she was the one bringing gifts. She set the broken sword pieces by the sword as a teardrop fell from her eye. Sai vowed to break free of his father in death, he was free. He kept his promise even though it cost him his life. While she however still remains bound to her father's rules and trapped in the past. The wind blew her hair back as she stood in silence at his grave.
"I thought I'd find you here," Selene placed a bouquet of roses by the grave. "I heard what Jayden did to Sai's sword. I gave him a scolding of a lifetime." She stood at the grave with Blaire. "Sai spent his whole life trying to prove himself to Scythe and in the end. He not only proved himself. He earned Scythe's respect. I think that's all he really wanted was for his father to see him as the person he was. Not a ninja, not a Samurai but both. Sai was good at both. He got that so I say even though he died. He died getting everything he wanted."
"Except for us," Blaire replied. "Sai loved us both and before he could choose he was killed." Selene reached into her pocket and pulled out a coin.
"He did choose," Selene placed the coin at the grave. "He chose me, that's why he died saving me. He left it up to a coin toss. Heads, it was you, tails, it was me. He got tails so he died making his choice. Sorry it wasn't you."
"Of course it was you," Blaire laughed. "If he had chosen me. He'd be a king and I just don't see Sai wanting to live as a King. He's much too free spirited for that. He likes doing his own thing and such behavior doesn't make for a good king. But I wouldn't have cared, as long as I had him, that was enough." She let out a sigh. "I thought I'd be over this by now." She wiped a tear from her eyes. "I swore I'd never cry over him and yet here I am doing it again. I fucking hate it, I'm too strong for this shit."
"I think we think we're stronger." Selene crossed her arms. "But in realty we're still the same girl's we were back then. The only difference is we learned to up walls to protect ourselves. We think by doing that we're stronger because of it. But, now, I'm not so sure. What if those walls we've built have made us weaker? All I'm saying is, you were a lot stronger when you used that sword during the war. It wasn't meant to be a grave marker." She ran her fingers through her hair, "The men are gathered, I'm ready to leave when you are." Blaire walked over to the sword and pulled it out of the ground.
"I'm ready," Blaire sheathed her sword.
The two of them joined up with the team. The men were all chained together by her father. Their hands were restricted as they walked in a single file line. Each of them dressed in a torn white shirt and ripped up slacks and no shoes. They stood outside the castle lying in wait for Blaire's arrival along with her team.
"Hurray, our first outing together," Amy hugged Ziek tightly. "This is going to be so much fun, Hello, team, for those of you who don't know I'm Amy. Ziek's girlfriend," Selene rolled her eyes. Amy went around shaking hands with Fate, Scythe, Jayden and Brandon. "It's a pleasure to meet you all." She went to shake Blaire's hand but she refused it.
"Are you guys serious?" Jayden raised his brow. "We're taking a human with us into werewolf territory. They're going to turn her. The first chance they get. We should probably go ahead and turn her just to be safe."
"Agreed, she's a distraction. I mean look at her," Brandon motioned to Amy. "She's hot and I bet her blood tastes delicious. I'll turn her," He volunteered. "I've never turned anyone before and if it means I get to drink her blood. I'm down for it."
"No, we're not turning my girlfriend." Ziek glared at Brandon. "She's a human and she'll stay human." He held up his fist. "Anyone who has a problem with that." He tightened his fingerless glove. "Will get their ass kicked by me. I'm serious, if one of you tries to bite Amy. I'll punch you so hard your whole body will explode."
"Can he do that?" Jayden asked.
"I don't know and I don't want to find out." Brandon moved away from Amy. Ziek put his arm on Amy's shoulder and brought her close to him. Blaire rolled her eyes trying her best to ignore the fact Ziek was making out with his girlfriend in front of her.
"I'm not exactly excited about having a human on my team either." Blaire spoke bluntly. "She's weak and our team is supposed to be filled with elites. Now we've been reduced to a laughing stock thanks to Ziek's pet." She glared at him. "But unfortunately my father has agreed to let Ziek keep his pet as long as he agrees to look after it. So, please try to ignore her. I plan to." She shifted her gaze to Amy. "Please be aware that if. Your life gets put in danger. No one other than Ziek is allowed to help you. I will not waste my resources on your pet. Are we clear on this team? If I catch you trying to aid this human. I'll kill you myself."
"Now daughter, is it really necessary to threaten the lives of your team?" Lord Alexander walked up behind her. "As acting commander, you should be more careful with your words. They are more likely to follow orders from someone who values their lives." Blaire rolled her eyes. Perhaps she should be more like Angel since he's so perfect. Last she checked, it's still her team, she can treat them how she wants. "I came to inform you that I will be joining you. This matter does concern my brother and if not dealt with in a swift manner. It might cause us to delay the war further. We don't want that, do we? Plus my presence alone will deter the werewolves from making any rash moves. So it's in our best interest that I go."
"Once again trying to protect me," Blaire rolled her eyes. "Fine, go if you want. I don't care," She crossed her arms. "Let's just get this over with. The sooner we deal with this Hybrid matter the better. On me," The team nodded following Blaire as they made their way to Lord Grimm's castle.
