Exploring Technology in a Wizard World

Chapter 770: Bizarre Square Box

Seeing Galuo with a massive hole blasted through his chest by the One-Hit Kill Wand, Richard shook his head slightly and briefly cleaned up the scene, feeling somewhat resigned.

Galuo's strength was not weak, as evidenced by his ability to block more than a dozen Miniature Magic Tracking Missiles from Richard's Deceit Needle model. But even such strength was merely adequate, for Richard, it only meant that more Miniature Magic Tracking Missiles were needed, or rather, more investment in manufacturing materials and production time.

When he began using the Magic Rune template through Light Engraving technology to produce Miniature Magic Tracking Missiles on a small scale, no matter how strong the opponent, it was just a number to him.

In a sense, Galuo died in a way that was highly unbecoming and stifling, akin to a well-trained Elite Soldier being killed with a single bullet.

Galuo and the other Wizards died not because of combat negligence, not because there were any loopholes, and not due to their own mistakes, but because of crushing dominance—a dominance in the level of combat thinking.

And this was exactly what he sought.

Through sustained effort, overcoming various difficulties, to become the strongest individual, to become the king at the pinnacle of power—this was indeed thrilling and invigorating.

But in his eyes, such pursuits showed backwardness.

Effort was a commendable quality, but relying solely on effort to resolve everything was incredibly foolish, or to put it differently, intellectually lazy.

After all, if all things could be solved through sheer effort, Miners should occupy the highest tiers of social class, not the corpulent Nobles.

In this world, he had no desire to become the strongest; his goal was to decipher everything, understand all principles, and be able to control the life and death of all creatures, including the strongest.

What was the point of being the first in the world?

Analyzing, mastering, and overturning the rules of the entire world—that was interesting.

Thinking of this, Richard turned his head to the side.

The sound of "shasha" arose as Sande, who had previously escaped, slowly walked back.

The returning Sande first surveyed the scene and the bodies of all the Truth Society Wizards, then pursed his lips and fell silent.

Richard looked at Sande and asked, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine," Sande shook his head, "I just suddenly thought that this might be my last time avenging Sofia in a short term. After this, I'll try to work on resurrecting Sofia. I hope I can succeed, I hope Sofia won't blame me."

After speaking, Sande took a deep breath, looked at Richard, and said, "If possible, please wait for me for a while. I want to do something before we discuss our deal."

"Okay," Richard agreed, then curiously asked, "What do you want to do?"

Sande didn't verbally respond but instead answered with actions.

He stepped forward, moved toward the bodies at the center, and piled several corpses together. Then, he dragged a few more bodies from the castle and built a Corpse Mountain.

His lips moved and he chanted a Spell, conjuring a glob of oily green Flames from his hands, and then threw it at the Corpse Mountain.

"Puff!"

The oily green Flames quickly spread, engulfing it in fire.

Underneath the Flames, the corpses twisted and contorted, not turning into ash but into irregular black stone-like substance. Eventually, the flames died down, and all the bodies turned into a large, irregular black rock.

Watching the black rock, Sande carefully drew a pink scarf from his bosom, deeply smelled it, and then tucked it back close to his body.

Sofia, please wait for me to resurrect you. If I fail, please forgive me, and I will use all my strength to avenge you until death."

After speaking, Sande looked at Richard and walked closer, saying, "Alright, now we can talk about our deal."

"Okay."

"In our deal, you have already given what you needed to give, and now it's my turn. First is my promise to help you with something in the future, which I will definitely fulfill," said Sande seriously. "However, considering that when you need my help, I might be anywhere, I need to leave you a means of communication."

"What?" Richard asked, looking at Sande.

"This." Sande said, holding his left pinky with his right hand and forcefully snapping it. With a "crack," it sounded like breaking a dry twig, breaking off the top section of the finger bone.

While doing this, Sande showed no expression of pain on his face. He seriously placed the broken finger bone in his right palm, chanted a spell, and let the finger bone quickly crystallize and turn black, eventually becoming something like an obsidian cylinder.

Handing the obsidian cylinder to Richard, Sande said, "This is the communication tool I am giving you. Because I have treated it with magic, no matter how far away, I will sense it. When you need my help, activate it with mana, and I will know and will come as fast as possible. It could take a few days or at most a month, but I will definitely arrive."

"I understand," Richard said, putting away the obsidian cylinder.

Sande continued, "Apart from the promise to help you, there is another matter; that is to help you confirm your fictitious identity—my teacher.

To be honest, I don't know exactly how to do it because I have never done such a thing before. But either way, I will really try to pretend I have such a teacher. Also, I can give you this."

After speaking, Sande took out a small cloth bag containing black crystal powder and handed it to Richard.

"What is this?" Richard asked.

"This is called Devil's Horn Powder, a very precious casting material that I managed to obtain. However, I'm currently unable to use it because it's used for casting some more powerful and more taboo spells.

If I really had a teacher, then he might be very skilled in using this material for casting, which could serve as a verification of your fictitious identity."

"Very well," Richard said, also taking it.

"Oh, right." Afterward, Sande thought of something and took out a square, exquisitely crafted small box from his person. The box was only slightly larger than a matchbox and resembled a micro-sculpture.

Handing the box to Richard, Sande explained, "This was found next to the Inheritance Wizard Book during my first adventure. I have always tried to study this thing but could never figure out what it is. The latter half of the Inheritance Wizard Book was edited out without any introduction, so I still have no clue.

Without a doubt, this thing is a waste in my hands, so I'm giving it to you. If it's useful to you, that's great; if not, you can help me dispose of it."

Richard reached out, took the box from Sande, and felt its icy coldness and exceptional hardness, indicating a very special material. Looking at the complex patterns on the box and noticing the faint undead black energy emanating from Sande's body, Richard's eyes widened slightly and a suspicion suddenly arose in his mind.

However, since speculation could not be certain, Richard simply did not say anything and just nodded and put it away.

At that moment, Sande spoke seriously, "Now, our deal is complete. I need to leave, and I hope we have the chance to meet again. I hope even more that when we meet, I will have already resurrected Sofia."

"Then I wish you luck," Richard said.

"Thank you," Sande responded expressionlessly and quickly turned to leave.

Watching Sande leave, Richard did not rush back to Blue Lake Estate. He blinked and turned to enter the ancient castle, preparing to collect more information about the Truth Society—this would help in the implementation of his next plan.

But inside the castle, he had not been searching for long when he sensed something. Slightly turning his head, he looked in a certain direction outside the castle for a while, his face showing a somewhat strange expression. The next moment, his expression became meaningful, and without making much noise, he just walked deeper into the castle.

ps (not charged below): Once again, four updates, I ask for nothing more than more support for the official version. The subscription numbers for the official version, I can check every day, represent how many people truly support this book. More updates, more official subscriptions, give me the motivation to update more, it's a positive cycle. Otherwise, the more updates, the fewer reads, it's quite disheartening. If you are unsure whether you are reading the official version, you can simply read on "Qidian" to ensure it. Otherwise, every chapter you read aids the development of pirate websites. The ultimate result is that piracy makes money, and the book does not get completed. The end.
