Chapter 771 A Story
Time moved forward a bit.
Outside the forest where the ancient castle stood, there was a soft "bang," and Bobbobovic fell from the sky.
He looked around, ensuring no one was nearby, and with a "rustle," he pulled out a map from his bosom, unfolded it, and looked at its content.
The map was marked with several locations near Jialan City, most of which were crossed off, leaving only the last one circled.
After gazing for a while, Bobbobovic nodded, tucked away the map, and stared intently into the forest, eyes slightly squinted, muttering to himself, "If I'm not mistaken, the temporary base of that Truth Society should be inside. Let's take a good look and see what this Truth Society is up to."
Having said this, Bobbobovic started walking into the forest, but after only a few steps, he heard a roaring sound from the center of the forest followed by the flash of Spell colors.
This is!
Startled, Bobbobovic couldn't help but want to rush over immediately.
However, his rationality stopped this impulse, and after pondering for a moment, he cast several spells to conceal his presence and cautiously approached bit by bit.
Bit by bit, bit by bit, and bit more...
Finally, Bobbobovic got close to the source of the sound. There, he saw an ancient castle, the exterior of which bore the marks of a fierce battle that had evidently erupted here.
Oddly, there were no bodies left at the scene, just a huge, exaggerated pile of black rocks.
What is going on?
Bobbobovic glanced at the massive black rock, full of confusion, thought for a long time, then shifted his gaze inside the castle.
"Should I go inside?" Bobbobovic murmured, frowning, "If I go inside, I might find some clues. But, not knowing what's inside, there could be an ambush..."
After much indecision, Bobbobovic finally decided to cautiously sneak inside to take a look.
He had invested too much effort in investigating this matter to just walk away now. It would be unacceptable.
"Sigh—"
Taking a deep breath, Bobbobovic stepped silently and swept towards the castle, climbed over the wall, and entered the interior.
Once inside the castle, Bobbobovic quickly hid in a corner, carefully listening for any sound. After a while, he found no noise at all; the entire castle was eerily quiet as if nobody existed.
This is strange!
Something is very wrong!
Bobbobovic stepped out of his hiding spot, checked several places consecutively, and found indeed that no one was around, his brows deeply furrowed.
"Hey!"
Bobbobovic called out tentatively, observing the castle's reaction, but aside from his own echo, no one responded.
"Is it really an empty castle?" Bobbobovic pondered, and as he continued to search the castle, he slowly confirmed this.
Well, it seemed that there really was no one in the castle, so there was nothing to worry about.
Bobbobovic's gaze sharpened, he dropped all caution, and began to search aggressively.
"Bang!"
A door was kicked open.
"Thump!"
A cabinet was knocked over.
"Rustle!"
The board was stomped through.
After searching for most of the day, Bobbobovic discovered a serious problem: most of the clues were of no use.
Yes, they were of no use.
Damn, what exactly was going on here?
Bobbobovic's eyebrows knitted into a knot, his face cold as he pushed open the door and entered the main fortress's hall, feeling quite irate.
After all, if he couldn't find any valuable clues here, then all his long efforts would have been wasted.
"Damn it!"
Unable to hold back, Bobbobovic cursed out loud, clinging to the last bit of hope as he looked into the main hall. Then, suddenly, he stiffened, his eyes widened, and his mouth slowly opened, holding this pose for about ten seconds without moving.
The reason was simple; in the spot Bobbobovic was looking at, a person was sitting at a table. Sensing someone entering, he slowly lifted his head to look over.
It was Richard!
Their gazes met in midair, Richard's filled with meaning, while Bobbobovic's changed from stunned to surprised, to puzzled, and finally to embarrassed.
"Ah, that..."
After about ten seconds, Bobbobovic spoke dryly, asking Richard, "Wizard Richard, how come you... are here?"
"It's simple, I couldn't sleep tonight, so I went out for a walk and ended up here," Richard explained softly.
Listening to this, Bobbobovic stared blankly, speechless, and completely unprepared for such an explanation.
Could there be a lazier, more absurd reason?
Bobbobovic complained inwardly.
At that moment, Richard spoke, asking Bobbobovic, "And why, Wizard Vici, are you here?"
"I..." Bobbobovic opened his mouth to explain but realized that finding a reasonable explanation for all this wasn't as easy as he imagined. So, after opening his mouth for a long time, he finally took a deep breath and said, "Believe it or not, but I'm the same as you—also couldn't sleep and walked over here."
"Such a coincidence?"
"It is a bit coincidental."
"Does Wizard Vici know that this place is connected to the enemies that led to my manor initially?" Richard said.
Bobbobovic's face changed dramatically, he looked at Richard for a long while, his gaze becoming serious, and said, "So, you knew all along?"
"Yes."
Bobbobovic pursed his lips, pondering for a long time and then said, "Since that's the case, I might as well tell you the real reason I came here, to avoid any misunderstanding. It's a long story, actually."
At this point, Bobbobovic paused, thought of something, and added, looking at Richard, "Oh, I almost forgot, you belong to the 'Not Listening Sect,' so you probably don't want to hear my story."
"No worries. In important times, I indeed belong to the 'Not Listening Sect,' but now, if Wizard Vici really wants to talk, I can listen," Richard said.
"Well... okay then." Bobbobovic straightened his expression, not bothering with any niceties, and began to tell his story… because his story was enough long-winded on its own.
It really was a very long story with few crucial plots, but it was full of filler, a mix of irrelevant plots and emotional expressions that made one's head spin.
After listening, Richard realized that the entire story could be summarized in three sentences:
Bobbobovic had a friend who disappeared here in Jialan City years ago, prompting Bobbobovic to come and investigate.
In the course of the investigation, the clues dried up, and Bobbobovic had to stop but didn't give up completely and decided to settle down in Jialan City.
Recently, from someone at the Truth Society, Bobbobovic discovered new leads and thus commenced a new investigation, leading to their current encounter.
