Chapter 153: Evidence
A mass killing spree occurred in the building, with Darius ruthlessly slaying all the death guards responsible in the intel aspect.
The collective nobles in the room simply turned a blind eye to the scene. In fact, they were extremely detached and even began drinking their tea in a nonchalant manner.
They held no sympathy for the death guards, granted that they would have done the same thing.
An extreme error in the intelligence aspect could easily spell death to their entire noble bloodline.
Just the mere thought that they were so close to offending a Crown Prince's man caused them to shiver.
Although the Crown Prince couldn't possibly stretch his hands much in the city of Velastra, the same could not be said for the other cities.
As nobles with many properties and influences spread across the Valdoria Continent, they couldn't afford to be on the Crown Prince's bad side.
Thankfully, the deceased Baron took the fall on their behalf.
Sometime later, only a few Death Guards remained alive from Darius's killing spree.
Despite being dyed crimson from the blood splattering his luxury clothes, he remained in a dignified composure and aura.
"The rest of you should go and scout the situation. Inform me as soon as they leave the garden." Darius commanded.
"Yes, Marquis." The death guards swiftly obliged the command and exited the premises.
Naturally, one of them remained momentarily to burn the corpses, whereas the servants and maids stationed outside the room entered to clean up the mess.
While the sweeping was done in a swift manner, outside the building, Leonard was panting heavily.
His forehead and his back were soaked in sweat. If Darius were to stumble across this scene, then he might have committed another mass killing spree to vent his frustration and anger.
After all, anyone would have been mistaken into thinking Leonard had completed the intercourse deed in an intense manner.
Elise's moaning had been echoing throughout the Fragrant Garden.
And with each passing second, the voice turned more passionate. It was hard for one's mindset to not think about the naughty deed.
"Do you still feel any poison inside your body?" Leonard plopped to the ground and asked. He was truly exhausted and fatigued from exerting himself this time. The Inverted Flow Mana Disorder condition that he suffered could actually become a blessing in disguise this time.
Since he couldn't properly condense the mana, the chances of his mana invading another person's body were bound to cause an intense reaction. The intense reaction was that Elise's body would start to work itself into trying to eradicate the foreign mana from remaining inside.
Think of the mana in Elise's body as a virus and Leonard's mana as a vaccine.
The foreign mana that Leonard injected into Elise's body was the vaccine to deal with the virus, which was the poison embedded deep in her own mana and internal organs.
Since a body's natural reaction was to create white blood cells to eliminate any viruses, his action was essentially to gather all the "white blood cells", which were actually the poison, to be expelled together with his mana.
It sounded complicated in the explanation, but the general gist was quite simple.
His mana entered her body.
Elise's body identified his mana as a threat.
Elise then reacted by summoning the poison and mana together to eradicate the foreign mana.
The result brought to the curing and extraction process. Naturally, with each extraction, the greater the mess Elise's body had become.
Right now, Leonard might have plopped to the ground from exhaustion, but Elise wasn't faring any better. Her clothes were completely drenched in sweat, with some of them even becoming loose and exposing her skin.
She also made heavy breathing in a seductive manner.
"T-The poison has really been expelled completely," Elise said in a weak tone. She was completely astounded by how Leonard was able to help eradicate the poison that had been etched deep inside her body.
His method was actually no different than what she had attempted in the past, but none of them ever worked.
Even though she tried to gather the poison together, she always failed to do so.
Yet under the injection of Leonard's mana. She could actually feel her corroded mana jolted awake from its dormant state and did their best to remove the poison.
Usually, the corroded mana would only work temporarily once an antidote was consumed.
'Just who is he?' Elise wondered silently in her mind. She refused to believe a merchant was capable of such a feat.
"Since you've been purged of the poison, can you start to believe my claim?" Leonard got up briefly, but realized his strength had yet to recover. Thus, he assumed a lotus sitting position instead and asked.
With the result crystal clear in her eyes, Elise nodded her head slowly.
What else could she say?
This was concrete proof that he was indeed capable. Not to mention, he even had a sixth circle mage as a bodyguard.
"Why did you save me and want to rescue my little sister?" Elise questioned with an uncertain tone.
"Evidence." Leonard flatly replied. "I need an abundant amount of evidence that could implicate Darius as the person responsible for the berserk outbreak and involvement in the Wrathbane Extract research."
Stunned and startled, Elise's lips twitched.
"Y-You know about those?" Each of those incidents that he just spoke of was extremely secretive.
The research on the Wrathbane Extract was something Darius had been working on for a long time. As for the berserk slaves outbreak, there was also no link or connection that would make others think it was Darius's doing.
Of course, there were some who knew, but they all signed a magic contract that restricted them from even talking about it.
If one of them dared to reveal or tell anyone in any way, then they were going to die immediately under the magic contract.
Elise was a death guard, so she naturally had to sign the contract as well.
'Wait a second, why didn't the magic contract take effect?' Suddenly, Elise realized that she had just indirectly admitted that Darius committed such a crime to Leonard. Yet she wasn't punished by the magic contract.
