Chapter 75: Delusion!
Fira knew she was lying at the last part when she said maybe one day she would fall in love with him. She had to say it to make him feel better, as she always wanted to be with someone who was strong like her. She did appreciate his friendship, but going one step further than that would take much more.
Arthur heard everything and was in shock by the amount of bullshit she had spouted just now. While those things might have happened, the way she was interpreting them...
'Nah! Man, I have to correct this psycho. And does she mean the crispiness of the letter 'F' when I said her name and It told her that I'm in love with her?'
'That has to be one of the craziest things I've ever heard in my life.'
He did say that when she had seen his chest—from the perspective of a person from this world, it would seem very strange. But to him, it was something normal. But he couldn't explain that to her, could he?
'Other than that, everything was just her imaginary bullshit.'
He did have thoughts previously that she was one of the people he would likely get together with. Even if she was at the bottom of the list, she was still there. But now, after all this bullshit, he couldn't imagine himself being with her anymore.
'She's gorgeous, I'm not gonna lie, but I can't do it.'
'What's with this "maybe, just maybe she would fall in love with him someday," as if it's some rom-com?'
'I don't need your love, Miss Delusional.'
He was already having a bit of mood swings and irritation due to the painful cramps he would feel from time to time. This shit really pissed him off, but he didn't let anger get to him, knowing that if that happened, his fire affinity would act up.
Taking a few deep breaths, he tried to make himself calm. It calmed him down a bit after five deep breaths.
"Fira, you have said everything, yes?" Arthur asked. The hint of annoyance in his voice was vivid.
Fira only nodded in response to his words. She did notice the annoyance in his tone of voice, but she knew he must be going through many different emotions right now, and to make it worse, she also knew he was on his period too, which made it even worse.
She was surprised he didn't try to throw some punches at her after she explained everything in full detail.
'I would have dodged them anyway, but I'm surprised by his control of emotions.'
Even if he was a weak man whose punches wouldn't even make her feel hurt, her pride wouldn't allow her to let him land a hit on her, no matter how weak he might be.
Arthur, seeing her nod, continued.
"Good! Now just listen to everything I have to say, and please don't disturb me while I'm talking."
The seriousness in his voice told her he didn't want to be interrupted in between, as his patience was running thin due to all the bullshit he had heard just before.
Fira didn't find anything wrong with his words and accepted them. She wouldn't have allowed anyone to talk to her like that, but the person in front of her was her best friend whose emotions were quite unstable right now.
Seeing she was ready to listen, Arthur began to explain his side of the story, which wasn't filled with her delusional thoughts. First, he explained the most important part which likely started this delusion of hers.
How did he know her name?
He told her to look at the uniform she was wearing—there was her name written in English around her pocket. It was quite small, but he could easily read it if he was standing near her.
He could see the unwillingness in her eyes and could definitely imagine her trying to deny his words by saying the crispiness in the 'F' bullshit he heard previously. But he didn't let her speak and fact-checked every single thing she had mentioned to him before.
He told her he was being nice because of how helpful she was. He even sarcastically added that if she had friends before, she would have likely realized that easily.
Seeing the twitching in her face and embarrassment in her eyes, which were not meeting his eyes when he said that, made him feel quite satisfied.
About the last part, he could only say it was all due to his memory loss, which was a solid reply from his side. He then raised his voice a bit and said with a serious expression on his face:
"I am not in love with you, Fira."
He could see a bit of doubt on her face, but there was still unwillingness there.
'Fucking hell! Her delusion knows no bounds. Even after I explained everything, she still doesn't believe me.'
Another thought arose in his mind.
'Could it be she thinks I'm saying all of this to hide my embarrassment?'
It was definitely a possibility now, knowing how delusional she had been before.
Fira was about to tell him that he didn't have to hide his feelings and lie in front of her just because he was embarrassed. She didn't mind it, as he had every right to let his feelings be known.
But before she could even say a single word, as if reading her mind, she heard Arthur's voice once again.
"Fira, I am not lying to you or hiding anything due to my embarrassment," Arthur said.
He didn't know how to prove it to her, as her face told him she didn't believe him even now. It was a very frustrating experience for him, trying to explain he was not in love with her when she was so obtuse and delusional.
Then just now, he remembered he was in a world of magic, and Fira in front of him was a very powerful person who was hiding her identity, no matter how delusional she was.
The annoyed look on his face had now completely disappeared, and only pure confidence could be seen on his handsome face with a light smile on his face, thinking about the reaction she would have once her delusion was broken.
