Elven Domination: Reincarnated with a Cloning System

Chapter 74: Practice Gone Wrong? (3)

Fira knew she had said too much. She feared their friendship would break apart now. She knew he had chosen to keep his feelings hidden when she had given him her hair as a memorial, so bringing this up now was definitely a terrible move.

'But it isn't my fault—how could he have understood everything I said?'

'Ivy was wrong. He definitely has some talent related to memory or something. He wasn't completely untalented.'

'But it could have been the case that she judged based on his potential to grow strong. A memory talent wouldn't help him in that, so it does make sense.'

She knew thinking about how it happened wouldn't do her any good. She had to focus on how she would handle this situation now.

'I really don't want my friendship to end.'

'Ugh, I will do everything to keep it that way.'

Even when she was scared and anxious, she still didn't run away from what lay ahead of her—this was simply who she was.

"A-Arthur, please—"

Before she could continue, Arthur's serious voice stopped her.

The tone of his voice made her shiver. She felt like she was facing her mother when she would try to pull pranks on her.

"Who told you I am in love with you? Tell me." His voice rang loud and clear—he wanted answers.

"T-That!" The word leaked from Fira's mouth in fear.

'Why would anyone have to tell me that? Wasn't it obvious from our very first meeting?'

She knew that, but she didn't want to hurt him by saying this. He must have tried to hide it well.

'Ugh, my keen eyes and ears—they backfired on me!'

'Should I just tell him the truth? No! I absolutely can't do that. It would hurt him more.'

"A-Arthur, I really don't want to hurt you by telling you that. I know you must have tried to hide it, but it was all a mistake to find this out. But whatever happens, don't break your friendship with me. I really don't want that."

Arthur thought in his mind.

'What the hell is she talking about? She had already friend zoned me by assuming i was in love with her, and now she's asking him not to break his friendship with her.'

'Is she delusional?'

'Why would I ever try to break such a strong connection? I do consider her a friend too.'

'But it doesn't matter if she is my friend or not—she has done too much emotional damage to me to be just forgiven like that. I want answers from her, and I would definitely correct her on this one.'

He did like her a bit, but not anything like love. It was just that if she did have feelings for him, he wouldn't mind being in a relationship with her. She was a bit weird sometimes, but in the end, she was really nice.

Hearing those words friend zoning him made him feel a bit hurt. He had to correct her.

"Ugh! You idiot, I am not breaking my friendship with you. Just tell me why you think I am in love with you." He reassured her while still asking the question that was haunting his mind.

'She even called me her first friend and best friend too. I feel good knowing that, as I didn't have any friends before either.'

So it was just as big a deal for Fira as it was for him. He didn't want this friendship to end at all, especially when Arthur knew how influential she was. It was a bit shallow, but he had to think about his future too. The outside world would be dangerous, filled with many powerful people. Having those connections would be helpful in times of need.

He didn't feel any guilt when considering this aspect of being friends with her.

Fira heard him clearly. She didn't believe his words at first, as they seemed too good to be true considering how serious the situation was. If he had gotten directly rejected by her, a man like him would have been crying in tears on the floor.

This just showed how strong Arthur's will was. She felt proud knowing her friend was so strong that he could handle a rejection like that, but she knew this was just his exterior—he must be hurting inside.

She felt sorry for rejecting him, but she couldn't do anything, as love wasn't something she would joke around with. She wasn't a player—she was very serious when it came to these things.

"A-Are you telling the truth, Arthur? Nothing would change between us?" Fira asked

"YES!" Arthur replied a bit loudly this time.

Arthur's loud and clear reply had reassured her. She felt like she could trust his word, and that was exactly what she did. She started from the time when he first came to find her.

"You do know, Arthur, when you first came to find me, how you acted and even held my hand in excitement? But that wasn't the part that told me you are in love with me..."

She told him that holding her hands at the first meeting played a bit of a part. It was when he kept calling her by her name when she hadn't even told him her name as if he was used to constantly calling her name when alone. He even pronounced the name right—the crispness of the 'F' in 'Fira' was there. She knew from that very moment that he was constantly watching her because she was the one he loved.

"But it wasn't just that which told me you are deeply in love with me. Many times I have noticed—that you always praise my cooking, and talk with me as if you want to continue talking to me endlessly. And on the day when the incident happened, I had seen some part of you that I shouldn't have, but you played it off as if nothing happened."

"No man would do something like that. The underlying meaning—that you weren't affected by being looked at by me—shows how much you love me.

"It was a bit sad that I don't have feelings such as love for you, but I do acknowledge the love you feel for me. Do forgive me for that. B-but I-I am not sure if these feelings w-would remain f-forever. Maybe, just maybe, I would really fall in love with you."
