Elven Domination: Reincarnated with a Cloning System

Chapter 70: Learning Elven Language (2)

Arthur was not worried about causing anyone disturbance through his low voice, as no one could hear him. His voice was barely a whisper that couldn't reach anyone, but there was someone inside the library who had subtly glanced at Arthur for a second.

'Interesting.'

That's the only thought that person had in her mind, as she hadn't seen anyone try to learn the Elven language before here. It piqued her curiosity, but it was only for a moment as her focus returned to the book in front of her where strange magic circles were drawn on the pages.

It didn't take long for Arthur to memorize the letters in the Modern Elven language. It was way more than the usual 26 letters found in English, but for him to easily memorize them in his mind, Arthur knew his passive Talent related to memory would come in handy. His intelligence had already made him faster in reading, and with his memory, Arthur was quickly devouring the knowledge inside the book bit by bit.

Arthur knew the most important thing in learning a new language is memory, and it seems luck was on his side today.

He had become too engrossed in learning now, and he didn't notice the hours passing by as if they were a gust of wind. When he finally closed the first book, only then did he notice the time.

It had been 5 hours since he had been sitting here. If it had been just reading, it would have taken him around half the time or even less, as the book wasn't too thick; however, memorizing it while reading it took much more effort, and he even had to read something twice or thrice sometimes.

But it was still a miracle for him to memorize the whole first part in just five hours. He couldn't have done it without his talent support and high intelligence stat.

However, as of right now, he doesn't think his brain could store any more information in it. He had to take a rest before continuing. He had learned many different types of common words, numbers, how the sentence should be formed, and basic grammar of the Elvish language.

He did have to say one thing, though: that the words in Elven could have multiple interpretations. It is possible in English too, but the degree to which it is present in the Elvish language is quite significant.

'I had already missed dinner.'

Growl~

Arthur's stomach growled after having the thought, but it was about to be sunset in two hours. He didn't have time left, as lunch would close at 4:30 pm, so he still had time, as usually they would leave at 3 from the mines.

But before leaving, he had made a decision.

'I should take these books with me.'

He wasn't sure about the process, but he knew he had to ask the elf who was sitting at the front desk.

Picking up the four books with him, he reached the front desk. He was just about to put the books on the desk and ask how he should go about taking the books with him, but before he could say anything, he heard her voice.

"You can take them with you if you want. No one is reading them anyway, but make sure to return them when you are done with them. If that sums everything up, leave. Don't disturb me—I am trying to learn something."

Arthur wasn't expecting such a reply, but he wasn't complaining at all, and he replied to her with a quiet voice.

"Ah! Okay, I will return them when I am done."

He was curious about what she was trying to learn with such focus, so he glanced at the book in her hand. It was hard for him to read the title quickly as he wasn't used to reading the Elvish language, but he did read it.

'Most Common Rank 3 Rare Water Spells'

Arthur's eyes perked up after reading the title. It wasn't the element he desired, but the book definitely made him excited. He wanted to ask how she got the book or if he could say whether the upper floor had books on magic here or not.

But he knew it was not wise for him to disturb her right now when she had told him to leave. He wanted to have a proper conversation with her, but right now wasn't the correct time for that.

Arthur left the library. After walking a little distance toward the dining hall, he looked left and right and checked if anyone was looking at him. Confirming that no one was around him, he took the pouch from his neck, and quickly using his mental energy, he put the four books inside it.

After his hands were free, he ran to the dining hall. Carrying four books around was making him slow.

After reaching the dining hall, he had his usual lunch. Fira was there too. She asked him if he had learned something from the books she had given him. While Arthur didn't say anything extra, which he would have likely done, he did show his annoyance toward the books being in the Elvish language and that he had to learn the language before even reading them.

Fira, hearing him complain to her, found him cute, but she also felt pity for him, as he was a lower human who likely had no talent at all; he would have a hard time even learning the Elven language in less than a month with their low memory and learning abilities.

Even when knowing the outcome of his effort, she didn't discourage him by telling him those facts, but instead she tried to encourage him.

He was on edge today, as many times he had complained to her and even called her out by mentioning the previous embarrassing things she had done and tried to make fun of her.

It did work out, as she blushed quite a few times, but she wouldn't lie; she enjoyed her time a lot with him.

She knew he was having mood swings due to his cycle, so she tried to not take offense, but she couldn't help but increase her resolve to settle her score with him for embarrassing her.
