Dungeon Nexus: Rise of the Silent Walker

Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Seeds of Discord

The Broker's arranged meeting with Seo loomed closer, and the team worked tirelessly to prepare. In Jiho's hideout, maps, dossiers, and makeshift plans were scattered across the table as Haeun and Sanghoon sorted through the details.

Jiho stood apart, staring out the small, cracked window at the city below. The faint hum of distant traffic blended with his thoughts.

"This isn't just about Seo anymore," he said suddenly, breaking the silence.

Haeun looked up, her brow furrowed. "What do you mean?"

Jiho turned, his expression grim. "If Seo's building a device that controls dungeon portals, it's not just Korea that's at stake. If he succeeds, every nation with dungeon activity will want a piece of it—or to destroy it."

Sanghoon frowned, folding his arms. "So, what's the plan? Take him down before he finishes it?"

"Exactly," Jiho replied. "But we can't just fight him head-on. He has resources, allies, and now, the Silver Fang under his thumb. We need to dismantle him piece by piece."

The Fracture in the Fang

Haeun tapped a file on the table. "There's one thing we can exploit—Seo's alliance with the Silver Fang isn't as solid as it seems. Some of their members are already questioning his motives."

Jiho leaned over the map, his sharp eyes scanning the notes. "Divide and conquer. If we can turn some of the Silver Fang against Seo, it'll weaken his position. But we'll need leverage."

Sanghoon smirked. "Good thing we have the Broker, then."

Haeun hesitated. "Do you really trust him?"

Jiho's shadows rippled faintly, a reflection of his confidence. "No. But I trust his fear of us more than his loyalty to Seo. We'll use him for now and dispose of him when he's no longer useful."

A Dangerous Proposition

Later that evening, Jiho met the Broker in a secluded alley. The man was visibly uneasy, his eyes darting nervously as he spoke.

"I've set up the meeting with Seo," the Broker said quickly. "He thinks it's about another shipment of Nexus core fragments."

Jiho nodded, his expression unreadable. "Good. But I need more from you."

The Broker's brow furrowed. "What now?"

"Names," Jiho said coldly. "I want the names of every Silver Fang member who's starting to doubt Seo. You've been in their circles long enough to know who's loyal and who's wavering."

The Broker hesitated, clearly torn between fear and self-preservation. Finally, he sighed. "Fine. But if Seo finds out—"

"He won't," Jiho interrupted sharply. "Because you'll make sure he doesn't."

Planting Seeds of Rebellion

Armed with the Broker's information, Jiho and his team began reaching out to the disillusioned members of the Silver Fang. Their approach was subtle—anonymous messages, carefully orchestrated meetings, and whispered promises of a better future without Seo's tyranny.

Haeun played a key role, using her knowledge of the Guild's inner workings to identify weak points. Sanghoon, meanwhile, acted as their enforcer, ensuring that any resistance was swiftly dealt with.

One by one, cracks began to form in the Silver Fang's ranks.

The Storm Brewing

As the date of the meeting approached, tensions rose. Jiho could feel the weight of their plan resting on his shoulders. Success would bring them one step closer to dismantling Seo's operation. Failure would mean their deaths—and the loss of any hope to stop Seo's device.

Haeun watched him from across the room, her gaze thoughtful. "You seem...different," she said quietly.

Jiho glanced at her, one eyebrow raised. "Different how?"

"More...determined," Haeun replied. "Like you're carrying more than just your own survival on your shoulders."

Jiho didn't respond immediately. Instead, he looked back out the window, the city lights reflecting in his dark eyes.

"This isn't just about me anymore," he said finally. "It's about making sure no one else has to live in fear of people like Seo."

Haeun nodded, though she couldn't shake the feeling that Jiho's motives ran deeper than he was willing to admit.
