Chapter 214 Going to the Bathroom
Standing outside the shopping mall, Liu Yunxi looked down at the white dress she was wearing and stamped her foot in annoyance.
Seeing this, Liu Ergou stepped forward. "What's wrong, Yun Xi? You don't look very happy. Don't you like this dress? If you don't, we can go back and exchange it for one you do like. We'll keep looking until you're satisfied!"
Hearing him say this, Liu Yunxi quickly waved her hands. "No, it's not like that! I do like it!" she insisted. "I just think you shouldn't have bought me such expensive clothes. We're just ordinary friends. Is it really okay for you to buy me something this expensive?"
Hearing her words, Liu Ergou wasn't flustered at all. Instead, he simply smiled, stretched out his arms, and pulled her into an embrace. "What's so wrong with it?" he asked softly. "If you really feel that bad about it, then how about you become my girlfriend? If you're my girlfriend, then me buying you a dress is perfectly normal. There's nothing wrong with that at all, is there?"
Liu Ergou's words were a confession.
Liu Yunxi could never have dreamed that he would suddenly confess to her. It was so abrupt, so unexpected, that she froze on the spot, completely unsure what to do.
A full minute passed before she finally came to her senses. When she did, her face instantly turned as red as a ripe apple. She looked at Liu Ergou, stammering, unsure how to respond.
Liu Ergou remained calm, a smile still on his face. "Well, Yun Xi, judging by your reaction, you're not interested in being my girlfriend, are you? If not, we can just forget it. Of course, the dress is still yours. Like I said before, there are still a lot of things waiting for you in the future!"
Hearing this, Liu Yunxi immediately panicked. "No, no, that's not it! It's not that I don't want to be your girlfriend, it's just... this is all so sudden!"
"I... I..." As she spoke, she stepped out of Liu Ergou's embrace, waving her arms around as she tried to explain. In her flustered state, she tripped over nothing, twisting her ankle as she stumbled straight toward the ground.
"Ah!"
Liu Yunxi screamed. Just as she was about to hit the pavement, Liu Ergou's quick reflexes kicked in, and he lunged forward to catch her.
"Be careful!" he said, looking at her with a helpless expression.
Liu Yunxi nodded shyly. She struggled out of his arms and tried to say something, but a sharp pain shot through her ankle. She lost her balance and began to fall again. Fortunately, this time she fell directly into Liu Ergou's arms.
Lying in his embrace, Liu Yunxi responded in a voice barely louder than a mosquito's buzz, "I'm willing to be your girlfriend..."
Hearing this, Liu Ergou's heart filled with joy and delight. "You said it," he grinned. "No take-backs!"
Liu Yunxi nodded, indicating she wouldn't go back on her word. However, her very next sentence made Liu Ergou slap a hand to his forehead in exasperation.
"Er Gou, I think I just sprained my ankle. It really hurts!"
Liu Ergou quickly crouched down to check on her. Just as she'd said, her ankle was definitely sprained. Her normally flawless, delicate foot was now swollen. From a distance, it puffed up like a large, pale bun.
"Looks like we won't be going back tonight," Liu Ergou sighed. "Come on, I'll take you to a hotel so we can get you a room."
Without waiting for her to agree, he scooped her up in a princess carry and headed for the nearest hotel. Soon, the two of them arrived. They rented a room by the hour, and Liu Ergou immediately began to massage her ankle. By the time the massage was over, the swelling had already gone down by half. Although she couldn't run and jump like before, she could at least walk without a problem.
Liu Ergou suggested they stay at the hotel for the night. Conveniently, the room had two beds. He figured if he massaged her ankle again in the morning, it would be mostly healed.
Liu Yunxi, however, disagreed. Her reason was simple: it was inconvenient to be out with so many shopping bags, so it was better to go home as soon as possible.
So, taking Liu Yunxi's advice, Liu Ergou hailed a taxi, and they headed back toward Fengzhu Village.
Before long, they were back in Fengzhu Village. Liu Ergou carried Liu Yunxi on his back to her place. After setting her down, he grabbed the clothes he had bought for Xu Yulan and prepared to leave. But before he could take a single step, Liu Yunxi called out to him.
"Um, Er Gou, could you wait a minute?"
Liu Ergou turned to look at her. "What's up, Yun Xi? Is there something else?"
Seeing his confused expression, Liu Yunxi's face flushed an even deeper shade of red. "Um, that is..."
Her voice grew softer and softer until Liu Ergou could no longer hear her, which left him feeling quite helpless.
"Yun Xi, I can't hear you. Please speak up," he said, his patience wearing thin. "You've already agreed to be my girlfriend, so what is there to be embarrassed about? Just say it!"
Seeing Liu Ergou's serious expression, Liu Yunxi's already blushing cheeks became several shades redder. From a distance, anyone who didn't know the situation might have mistaken her for a perfectly ripe apple. This just made Liu Ergou sigh again.
"Yun Xi!" he called out sharply.
The sudden shout startled Liu Yunxi, but it also snapped her back to reality.
Then, in a voice even softer than a mosquito's buzz, she said, "Er Gou, I need to use the bathroom, but my foot hurts. Could you... could you carry me there?"
If Liu Ergou hadn't already cultivated the Body Cultivation Technique, he likely wouldn't have been able to hear her at all. Once he understood what she had said, he let out a sigh. "You just need to use the toilet. What's there to be embarrassed about? Honestly!"
With a shake of his head, Liu Ergou walked over, scooped her up in a princess carry once more, and brought her to the bathroom. He set her down gently but then simply stood beside her, showing no intention of leaving.
Liu Yunxi, who urgently needed to use the toilet, was dumbfounded. She stared at Liu Ergou, who showed no sign of leaving, completely unsure of what to do. All she could do was gawk at him as he stood there.
