Chapter 115: It's You!
Fu Ya didn't have a good temper to begin with, and the moment she heard the saleswoman's words, she was ready to charge over. Seeing this, the saleswoman immediately shouted, "Security! Security, come quick! Someone's making trouble here!"
At her shout, two burly security guards rushed in.
The saleswoman pointed at Fu Ya and yelled, "That woman is trying to start something! Hurry up and throw both of them out!"
Without the slightest hesitation, the security guards headed toward Fu Ya, looking ready to get physical.
When Liu Ergou witnessed this, his face turned grim. He had only come to buy a phone, yet not only was he constantly harassed, but now it seemed he was about to get beaten up.
As the security guards approached, Liu Ergou stopped holding back. With a single punch and a kick, he floored them both.
Seeing the security guards knocked to the ground, the saleswoman let out a piercing scream. "Help! Somebody, help!" she shrieked. "He's attacking people! Someone, call the police!"
As the saleswoman's screams echoed, a large crowd of onlookers quickly gathered at the phone store.
Meanwhile, a man in a suit ran quickly down the stairs from the upper floor of the store. After coming downstairs, the man looked at the screaming saleswoman and frowned, snapping, "What are you yelling about? Stop making such a scene! What happened?"
Hearing this, the saleswoman immediately played the victim. "Manager, you're finally here!" she said, pointing at Liu Ergou and Fu Ya. "These two started making trouble the moment they walked in, and just now, they even tried to steal a phone!"
Hearing such a blatant distortion of the truth, Fu Ya became furious.
The manager quickly strode over to Liu Ergou and Fu Ya. He glanced at Fu Ya first, finding her somewhat familiar, but he didn't give it much thought. He then looked at Liu Ergou. Upon seeing the man's clothes, he instantly believed about eighty percent of what the saleswoman had said.
"'Robbing my store? Do you really think we're an easy target?" the manager said coldly, pulling out his phone to call the police.
The onlookers also began to murmur among themselves.
"Tsk, tsk. Can't these young people do anything right? They have to resort to stealing phones?"
"Yeah, you're right! They're just scum! Someone call the police and have them taken away. How shameful!"
"Public morality is really declining. To think young people today have become like this... it's truly tragic."
Hearing the crowd's chatter, Fu Ya could no longer hold back. "We didn't steal anything! We came here to buy a phone! It was your employee who insulted us, and then she had the nerve to make a false accusation against us! And you, the manager, you're cut from the same cloth as her!"
The manager frowned and was about to say something, but the saleswoman suddenly shouted, "Manager, it was clearly them! They tried to steal the phones, and I stopped them! Hurry and call the police! Let the officers come and drag them away!"
Since the manager's back was turned, the saleswoman shot a smug smile at Liu Ergou and Fu Ya after she finished speaking.
At this point, Fu Ya was about to explode with rage. She started forward to confront the saleswoman, but Liu Ergou stopped her. Then, Liu Ergou said calmly, "There's no need to waste our breath on someone like her."
After saying that, Liu Ergou lifted his hand and pointed to a corner of the phone store.
"You're the manager of this phone store, right?"
Seeing how composed Liu Ergou was, the manager felt a moment of uncertainty and nodded.
Liu Ergou continued, "Look where I'm pointing. That's your store's security camera, isn't it?
"You say we robbed you? Fine. Pull up the footage and show us the evidence.
"If the video really shows us robbing the place, then call the police right away. We won't even try to run."
At these words, the arrogant saleswoman froze on the spot. She had been so arrogant that she had completely forgotten about the store's cameras. Only now, hearing Liu Ergou's words, did she remember.
The saleswoman grew anxious and was about to say something, but the manager cut her off.
"Right! How could I have forgotten? I completely forgot about the cameras!"
Saying this, the manager pulled a phone from his pocket and started tapping on it. Within minutes, his expression turned foul.
But instead of exploding right away, the manager shouted to the onlookers, "Alright, alright, everyone disperse! There's nothing to see here, it was all a misunderstanding. No one stole anything, and no one robbed anyone. That's all, break it up, break it up!"
The people who had been hoping for a spectacle, being shooed away by the manager, began to disperse.
Once the crowd had mostly gone, the manager turned to the saleswoman, his face grim. "Look at this mess you've made! Falsely accusing customers for no reason? You've completely disgraced this store!"
Having said his piece, the manager put on a smile and turned to Liu Ergou and Fu Ya. "My deepest apologies for what happened today. The fault is entirely ours. As you saw, I've already reprimanded the employee. How about we just let the matter drop?"
Looking at the manager bowing and scraping before her, Fu Ya was so angry she had to laugh.
This manager isn't the least bit sincere. He thinks Liu Ergou and I are just ordinary people he can fob off with a few empty words. Too bad for him, he picked the wrong people to mess with today.
Fu Ya looked at the manager and said coldly, "My name is Fu Ya. I'll remember this phone store. That's all."
With that, Fu Ya took Liu Ergou's arm without hesitation and turned to leave.
The manager was left scratching his head in confusion. What did she mean by that? Her surname is Fu, so what? The town mayor's surname is...
At this thought, the manager's forehead was suddenly beaded with cold sweat.
Could this woman be the town mayor's daughter? If she really is... then wouldn't I be...? The manager's legs went weak with fear. If this shop gets shut down because of me, the boss will never let me off the hook!
With this in mind, the manager scrambled after Fu Ya on legs that had turned to noodles. In the blink of an eye, he caught up to her. He was covered in cold sweat as he said in a pleading tone, "I'm so sorry!
"Miss Fu Ya, I... I didn't recognize you just now!
"If I'd known it was you, I wouldn't have dared to act that way even if I had ten times the courage!"
