Chapter 63: : I am Your Master Now!
Xuan stood in front of the dark cave, confronting the big red eyes. A fragment of his former self stood at the right in front of him, holding the same walking sticks.
There was no denial, that was definitely Xuan. He had thought deeply on the words of the dragon.
Dragons are prideful beasts; if Xuan can't tame himself, the dragon would never accept him. And this was the first time Xuan's past self began the taunting words.
In other words, getting past the shadow of his former self must be the dragon's first trial.
"Father could have never been more proud of us," Xuan's counterfeit said, stretching his hand.
However, Xuan closed his eyes instead and sighed. Taking a bold step forward, he walked through his counterfeit as if it was a hologram.
When he slightly turned his head to look behind him, the counterfeit had disappeared. Xuan believed he had completed that.
But there was only one way to be certain of it—walking into the cave and not getting slammed out.
And when he walked in, the world around him vanished.
He felt a rush of air and suddenly found himself floating in a cosmic space, vast and endless, as if he had stepped into a similar version of his dimensional library, with books replaced by blinking stars.
'I made it?'
Xuan wondered as he looked around in confusion. He had never gone past seeing darkness and getting slammed outside. This was his first time passing through that stage.
Ahead of him stood an enormous white gate, its surface carved with beautiful golden carvings of a dragon.
'The dragon's gate.'
The serene beauty of the place was almost calming. It was far from anything on the outside, where it looked dangerous enough for no one to walk in.
Soon enough, the dragon's eyes began peeping through the gate that had suddenly begun to creak.
The little space that had opened between the gate filtered out a blinding light, but as it opened completely, Xuan had to cover his eyes.
The light was cast across the entire space. As the light dimmed slightly, Xuan gradually opened his eyes.
In front of him was a colossal white dragon, its silhouette growing more defined with each passing moment. The sheer size of the creature made Xuan's heart skip a beat.
'So big.'
The black curved horns of the dragon were exactly like the ones he saw earlier on the dragon lady, while its purple eyes pierced through his soul. The look on the dragon's face was evident enough to say it had pride and arrogance when looking at the feeble human.
'Kneel before I incinerate you.'
The dragon's voice echoed within Xuan's mind. Breaking into a sweat, Xuan was completely nervous.
It released a tremendous amount of divine combustion stage-eight aura.
The aura was suffocating; a child would definitely die in its presence. Xuan swallowed hard, feeling his body tremble and beg him to kneel.
'Feeble human.'
Accompanying the dragon's growl in his head, its maw extended. Inside was like hell—hot flames accumulating and waiting to burn down Xuan.
He gulped. However, Xuan straightened his shoulders and sighed. "You fool," he said.
At that moment, the white scales of the dragon felt a chilling cold, like a whimpering dog scared of its owner.
'What?' The dragon's thoughts were filled with confusion and shock. Her own flames were refusing to come out.
"Perhaps you want to die," he said, locking eyes with the dragon, silently challenging her.
Xuan stepped forward, and that one step alone shook the foundation of the cosmic space. His once-tattered robe was replaced with a white robe.
His majestic aura swept through, and the flames dried up in an instant. Only steam escaped the dragon's mouth.
The more steps he took, the lower the dragon's head went down. Forget her aura killing a child—the aura Xuan was giving off...
An aura of the final stage of divine combustion, capable of suffocating millions to death, was now pressing the dragon's head down.
And by the time Xuan walked there, the dragon's head was already pinned down.
In that moment, when Xuan looked her in the eyes again, there was no room for pride or arrogance. It was replaced with fear and respect.
Xuan placed his hand on her pinned head, and a dragon's mark appeared on his arm. The bond was now made.
"I am your master now! Is that clear?"
'Yes, my liege.'
Her voice echoed in Xuan's head. The once commanding tone was now subtle—an oath of her servitude and a silence of the respect she now had for Xuan.
"Good."
---
Meanwhile...
The news quickly reached Fang Yuan, and he came almost immediately after hearing Xuan was missing, along with the recovering tracker.
"This guy is always hard to find; he must be in places created with charms," said the tracker.
"Just keep trying," Fang Yuan added. "That's what you're paid for."
As of now, the whole squad, including Han Bai, were in the forest Xi Ning took Zhao Lan to. The six of them were scouting the entire forest for Xuan.
On top of that, Emperor Woo had also sent a few guards to aid them in the search.
Fang Yuan leaped on top of a tree. What lay far ahead of them was only the outskirts of the capital.
"Even I have thoughts of finding him there," said Han Bai, who appeared out of nowhere on the same tree.
Xue Ming, on the other hand, walked towards Zhao Lan. Now wasn't the right time, but she needed to clear the air between them.
"Hey, there's something you should know," Xue Ming said, immediately catching Zhao Lan's attention.
She wasn't doing anything to begin with, just leaning on a tree as she watched the guards search for Xuan. Zhao Lan stood taller than Xue Ming.
After all, Zhao Lan was a full-grown woman, and Xue Ming was still an up-and-coming melon developer.
"I know. Xuan cultivated with you, didn't he?" Zhao Lan asked. As much as she needed it to be a lie, she had to accept it.
But Xue Ming was shocked. She quickly believed it was Xuan who had told her, but that wasn't the case. Zhao Lan knew because she knew Xuan too well.
And even Xi Ning, after knowing she was Xuan's classmate, had already figured that was the girl Xuan banged in class.
Zhao Lan sighed. "If he tells you to be his wife, it means he's in love with you. Don't hurt him, okay?"
Xue Ming nodded. She didn't expect Zhao Lan to react this way, but in all, it was better than what she saw coming.
"Guys, I found him!" the tracker yelled.
Within seconds, the squad surrounded him, each of them eager to know where Xuan was. "You won't believe this."
The tracker squatted on the ground and began drawing weird maps. "So he was here just a few moments ago," he said, pointing at a place he called the outskirts of the capital.
"Then all of a sudden, he vanishes and appears miles away from the capital's outskirts," the tracker added.
Intriguing everyone with what was going on. "The question is, how did he move that fast, and where the hell is that place? We're like miles away from it too."
"Did you find him or not?" Fang Yuan asked.
"Yeah, I did, but I don't know where that is. I ain't walking into another cave to save someone's butt."
"That's the elf country," Zhao Lan informed them. Though drawn on the ground, it was oddly familiar.
---
The once-proud elf country was nothing like its former self, ruined beyond recognition. In some parts of the city, blue flames were still burning on the walls.
Meanwhile, the undead ice-like elf demons were taking prisoners, shoving them like animals.
Instead of going to the capital, Xuan had headed here first the moment he tamed Carnish—that was what he named her.
It turned out that on their way, Carnish had a quick transport. All Xuan needed to do was visualize the place, connecting to her thoughts.
Carnish was able to open a portal, bursting through like a bullet, through a purple cosmic space.
And a portal would appear at the end of the desired location. Not long after, the beast appeared in the city.
"Li Feng," was the first person Xuan thought of. He spotted the undead soldiers shoving humans and ordered Carnish to go down there.
"Kissss~ Booosh!"
The flames gathered in her maw and released on the enemy troop before they even realized a winged beast was above them.
The undead ice-like elf demons were completely burned to ash along with what surrounded them, and Xuan quickly jumped down, landing perfectly in front of the prisoners.
"Where's Li Feng?" he asked. He hadn't jumped down to help them at all.
One of the prisoners pointed behind him, but that was just a rock—meaning they were behind the rock. Having the information he needed, Xuan yelled:
"Carnish!!!" In that moment, before the prisoners could blink, the insane speed beast burst through—Boom!—along with no sign of Xuan.
