Chapter 62: : Undead Elf King Returns

However, the big glowing eyes he once saw disappeared, and a beautiful woman with two horns appeared. She was wearing a dark robe reaching down to her legs.

"Oh my, did I scare you?" she said.

Xuan, who was still sitting on the floor, ran a quick eye around her body and looked at what stood out the most about this woman: her white horns.

While he was looking at her, the woman had already walked closer and stretched her hands, wanting to help Xuan back up.

"Are you alright?" she said.

Xuan looked at her hand and back to the face, precisely the horn. Although the color of her hair was also white, the horns stood out well enough that he wouldn't miss them.

"Have you been the one calling me the whole time?" Xuan asked, slowly getting back on his feet and dusting the dirt off his robe.

The dragon lady nodded her head sideways. Although she was the dragon, Xuan didn't see her as someone scary.

"That's weird, how come you were beneath us?" The location of the dragon was different from the one Xuan was seeing on the map.

The dragon should be outside the capital, a bit far from the outskirts of the capital, and he was right.

"Yes, you're no longer within the capital."

"Okay, let's get this over with. How do I tame you? Dual cultivation or what?"

"Oh, you want to tame me as your spirit beast?" she said, smiling, and Xuan nodded. "This is just a fragment of my former self. I am inside there."

Xuan looked at where she was pointing—the dark cave. "What? You're saying I can find you inside there?"

However, Xuan got no reply. When he turned, the horned lass wasn't there anymore. Looking at the cave again, he sighed.

Xuan leaped in front of the cave and, with enough courage, walked inside. However, in the next ten seconds—

Boom!

Xuan was blasted from the cave, as if the cave had vomited him, so hard that he was sent to the other end of the cave, slammed extremely hard against the wall.

His clothes all of a sudden were tattered, burnt down like that of a beggar. Xuan cleaned the bloodstain off his lips and muttered,

"What the hell... that's definitely not dual cultivation."

---

Xi Ning arrived at the empire, but she couldn't get past the statue. The guards were standing in between, blocking her from going inside no matter how many times she said it was urgent.

"Don't you get it? It is about Xuan, so I need to tell the emperor now!" she yelled at them.

It was after the noise had gotten too loud that Xue Ming heard and walked outside, surprised to see Xi Ning was involved.

"Xue Ming, I need to speak to your father right away!"

"Is there something wrong?"

"Yes, Xuan is missing."

The moment she said that, Zhao Lan was the next to walk out. She had been eavesdropping for quite a while now.

"What was he doing with you?" was the first thing she asked.

"What? Are you his mom? I need to see the emperor!"

"She is Xuan's first wife. If there's anything you want to tell the emperor, you should tell her," Xue Ming suggested.

It made the way Zhao Lan felt about her a bit lighter. Xi Ning, on the other hand, was still looking at Zhao Lan, shocked Xuan had a wife.

"How many wives are there?" Xi Ning asked weakly.

She asked that expecting Xue Ming for an answer, but before she could say anything, Zhao Lan already replied.

"I am his only wife, his first and last. So where is my Xuan?"

Xue Ming didn't say anything. Clearly, she didn't know Xuan had cultivated with her. Xi Ning also saw Xue Ming's expression alter. But that wasn't the topic now.

"Okay, well, come with me."

"Xue Ming, stay behind and inform your father and Fang Yuan," said Zhao Lan.

Xue Ming respected that, and Xi Ning brought Zhao Lan alone to the spot. The way she explained it all did not sound believable.

"From the sky he vanished?" Zhao Lan repeated. On top of that, she couldn't sense Xuan's spirit energy around the forest.

Han Bai, who had been spying on them the entire time, quickly left before they noticed he had followed them.

Xue Ming needed to be updated about what was going on, so she had sent Han Bai to spy on them and come back if he found anything.

---

Li Feng stood at her majestic transparent window, looking outside while holding a letter.

In the letter, she was thinking of sending it to Xuan because she needed his help. Her undead father was back not just to reclaim his throne but to turn her just like him.

But Li Feng was holding back from sending the message. In the end, she dropped the letter on her bed.

Knock knock~

With Li Feng's order, the one at the door walked in. Two elders on their knees addressed themselves.

"Your Highness, the fallen elves have breached the fourth wall. We are losing the war," said the first elder. He was older compared to the one beside him.

"The human race has sent three of their counselors. They ask for a truce to end—"

Boom!

The walls of her room exploded to pieces. She had to cover herself in order not to get hurt by the force.

And when she dropped her hands, the whole place was covered with blue flames.

The elders who once knelt in front of her became nothing but burned skeletons, slowly crumbling down.

Li Feng's heart pounded. A loud flap was heard from the corner where the flames had burst through. Li Feng fell on her knees.

Then a man in dark clothing, two swords crossed behind him, his body white as if made out of ice—the undead elf king.

He dropped the heads of the three human counselors. And when he saw how Li Feng cupped her mouth, holding back her tears,

He was pissed off. "You've grown a soft spot for the humans?" he growled.

She imagined those three heads all belonged to Xuan. That was her fear—asking for his help and knowing how strong her father was, Xuan would die.

Li Feng lunged at her father with her spear. However, he dodged and grabbed her by the hair. Without remorse, he slammed her against the wall.

Kweuk! Li Feng coughed out blood.

Just as her body slammed the wall, her father was already coming at her again. Boom! He planned to punch a hole through her.

But instead, it was in the wall, because Li Feng leaped up, spun around, and landed far behind her father. She didn't waste time on her perfect landing and projected her spear at him.

The silver weapon cut through the air, catching the undead king unaware. It left a cut just beside his cheek. However, the blood quickly froze, and the cut healed itself.

In order to turn his daughter like himself, he needed to kill her. He didn't need her crown. He already had an undead army of elves that once fought alongside him during the war against the humans.

"Daughter," he sighed. "Don't make things hard for me." As he took a step forward, he stopped, looking at the floor. He saw the letter.

Li Feng's eyes widened. She wouldn't let her father open that letter. But she wasn't fast enough. The undead king began laughing and asked in a demonic tone,

"Who is Xuan? Your lover?"

---

Meanwhile...

Xuan was breathing tirelessly, smoke from the flames gradually escaping his body. He stood and walked inside the dark cave again.

Nothing changed. He was blasted out with force, slamming his back against the same wall. The wall had gotten a deep web crack.

Xuan coughed out blood, his eyes mixed with tears.

"Maybe you should just give up. The strongest beast in the world? We've tried enough, we've gotten far from being a cripple."

Xuan couldn't tell where the discouraging words kept coming from, but it was undoubtedly his voice.

"We had our revenge, cultivated with many women, we cultivated with Xue Ming, and even gained a good place with the emperor. We never imagined we'd come this far."

Xuan stood up. He was about to take a step inside when the dragon lady from earlier appeared beside him.

"Dragons are prideful beings, especially the females. What makes you believe it would let you be its master when you're struggling with yourself?"

"Prideful beings?" Xuan muttered, but the dragon lady didn't reply. Overall, his face was completely messed up.

She sighed. "You need to get out of here, Xuan."

Accompanying her words, a series of screens appeared in front of Xuan. He saw the elf country and a different type of elf.

More importantly, he saw Li Feng struggling with a man. She was already brutally wounded. And he saw the strange elves—the undead ones—breaching the outskirts of the Wuxia capital.
