Chapter 421: Connected.
Although Elena had woken up, her mind and body were still separated because her life energy tried to overpower Aevia's power. Her body didn't want to respond to her command because of it, so she could only sit there and watch from the distance. She had no choice because she was halfway through deciphering Aevia's power.
"Go, you don't have to protect me," Elena said as she glanced at Amaryllis. "Mykel needs you, he needs her power back..." She added.
"What about you? You're vulnerable right now and nobody knows what would happen to you if nobody is protecting you," Amaryllis asked.
"It's fine. I don't think Jeanne and the others would let Aevia target me. They're strong enough to occupy her and keep her busy," Elena answered as she tried to sit properly.
Amaryllis could bring her clones to protect Elena, but she didn't want to divide her power in this kind of situation. She had no choice but to listen to Elena and went straight to Mykel and helped him recover his power. It was the best choice because Mykel could handle Aevia on his own if things went wrong.
Jeanne enchanted her sword and modified its blade with [Systematic] power and transformed Aevia's power and hers into an aura blade. She swung her sword at Aevia when Aurea took a step back, and it barely missed Aurea's body. When she slashed Aevia's chest, it was the first time that everyone saw Aevia bleed.
The blood wasn't red or in the form of a liquid, it was like a bright light mist that floated in the air. Countless times they had fought Aevia from a different timeline, and yet they had never seen something like that. It was a shocking discovery and the fact she could bleed made them realize that she wasn't invincible.
Elena and Mykel had never seen Aevia bleed before either even though they had fought her for a very long time. Elena wondered if Jeanne's attack was so powerful that it could make Aevia bleed or if it was because Aevia got weakened because of her.
"You, what did you do..." Aevia replaced her current state with her state from the past.
Jeanne didn't say a word not because she didn't want to say anything, but because she was on the brink of collapsing. Her hands trembled and her sword made a rattling sound because she could barely lift it with her current strength. She used all her power on that attack alone, and she also had the drawback of using that power.
"You just made a huge mistake," Aevia wrapped her fingers with a similar aura that Jeanne used. She knew that Jeanne had lost all her strength from using that attack.
When Aevia thrust her hand toward Jeanne, Enma grabbed Jeanne's collar and pulled her back. At the same time, Gunnar came in and stood in front of Jeanne and used his shield to block Aevia's attack. But, the moment his shield clashed with Aevia's fingers, his shield shattered and his hand disintegrated when it was exposed to Aevia's power.
Aurea, Luciel, and Sasha dashed forward and took their turns fighting Aevia. Brynhilde held Jeanne's upper arm from behind and carefully carried her away from the fight. Enma grabbed Gunnar's body and brought him away because he would lose his life if he got exposed to Aevia's power more than that.
When Brynhilde put Jeanne down, Jeanne collapsed fell to her knees, and let go of the sword. She looked worried, but it wasn't a life-threatening condition because Jeanne would recover once she was well-rested.
"I'll be fine, I just need to rest for a bit..." Jeanne groaned as she held her chest.
Brynhilde nodded and then went back to the battle to support and wait for their turn to fight Aevia. She was
Jeanne sighed as she tried to focus on her recovery, and then she noticed that Elena had woken up. They both were staring at each other, Jeanne then decided to approach Elena to ask about her condition.
"Do you think you can do that again?" Elena asked as soon as Jeanne was close to her. "You were just testing the water, didn't you?" She added.
"Yes, I was testing how my attack would affect her. I still can push my limit and do a lot better than that. I could even use everything if it would give us a bit of an advantage," Jeanne answered as she sat next to Elena because she could protect Elena if Aevia somehow decided to attack her.
"Get some rest because soon the others will come," Elena said as she watched Luciel team up with Bhatmelec and Vincze fighting Aevia with their attacks that went beyond time and space.
Jeanne furrowed her eyebrows as she looked at Elena because she was surprised that Elena could tell about the others. But she didn't ask how and focused on her recovery because Elena said so, and how Amaryllis focused on giving the power back that Mykel had lost.
(At the same time in the Empyrean World)
Mykel and the others were testing the power they achieved by sparring with each other. Mykel single-handedly defeated all of them without even trying, and he was in a different league as always. He decided to understand his power even further because he believed there were things that he could uncover.
"Mykel has lost his power, and that means we have altered the past," Amaryllis informed Lyneth. "To think a simple change like this could lead their future from demise is simply fascinating," she added and was amazed by Lyneth's way of thinking.
Lyneth didn't say anything and her empty expression was like a void that held countless secrets and terrifying things. The more time passed by, her expression became emptier and it worried Amaryllis who had been by her side.
"Lyn?" Amaryllis grabbed Lyneth's hand gently.
"I'm sorry, I was thinking about something. What were you saying?" Lyneth looked at Amaryllis with empty eyes.
Amaryllis had been trying to uncover the [Realm Walker] power that Lyneth possessed, but she couldn't decipher it at all. Something that either she couldn't understand or something that prevented her from understanding its power.
"You have been spacing out so often lately. What's bothering you, and why are you hiding it from us?" Amaryllis asked. "Mykel alone is enough to be enigmatic, but why are you doing the same thing as him now?" She added.
"Maybe the loneliness is the reason why, and seeing how those two are in front of me and yet they're not mine, it affects me deeply," Lyneth answered. "It's not something you should worry about, so just focus on helping Mykel right now," she continued.
Amaryllis realized that Lyneth had been reading everyone's thoughts and that was why she was in a daze. She wondered if she was able to read people's minds and thoughts, would she do the same or not.
Mykel was deep in thought, but then he felt something inside him grow and it made him out of breath for a moment. His heart was racing and he didn't know what happened until Elena suddenly released her life energy and made a gust of wind that pushed everyone away. He then looked at Elena who was floating above the ground and she had come out of her slumber.
Elena and Mykel looked at each other and they felt a strong connection between them, something that they never had before. They both could feel each other's power like both of their powers were connected to each other. Suddenly Mykel released a mass of energy from within and it created a greater gust of wind. He realized it was the final step that Lyneth and Amaryllis mentioned, and now he got it, that meant it was time for them to make a move.
"Congratulations, you're all have reached our levels now," Amaryllis said as she looked at everyone in front of them. "I know that you guys are still learning your new power, but we don't have much time and luckily, there are enemies that you can test your power with," she pointed out.
Mykel and the others looked at each other and knew that they still had countless enemies to deal with. The ones that had been waiting for them somewhere above the universe, the one who believed he was the one who ruled the world.
"Are you guys ready to move now?" Mykel asked as he looked over his shoulder.
"We are ready whenever you are boss," Gunnar said as he fixed his armor and held up his shield. "Just give the order as always," he smiled and the others nodded their heads in agreement.
"Let's move then," Mykel said and then Amaryllis opened the portal for them to go back to Earth and deal with the enemies that they were struggling to deal with.
Mykel and the others entered the portal and came back to Earth where it had turned into ruins for the battle between them, the Gods, and the angels.
