Chapter 17: Li and Lie
They arrived at the Queen's residence, its grand spires piercing the golden clouds above. Lyvessa stepped forward and bowed deeply.
"My Queen, Elyndra," she said reverently.
Scarlett remained standing, her arms crossed.
Elyndra's sharp gaze fell on her. "Lyvessa, who is this insolent one?"
Lyvessa hesitated before replying, "She's the being that was frozen."
Elyndra's eyes widened slightly. "That being? Truly?"
"Yes," Lyvessa confirmed.
Elyndra tilted her head, studying Scarlett. "And what brings you here?"
Scarlett met her gaze unflinchingly. "I need to know how to get back to Hell."
Elyndra's expression hardened. "Why would you seek that cursed place?"
Scarlett straightened, her voice steady. "I am the second daughter of the Demon Queen. I need to return to reclaim what is mine."
Elyndra laughed, a cold, incredulous sound. "A bold claim. And yet, difficult to believe."
"She's not lying," Lyvessa interjected.
Elyndra turned to her. "You, Lyvessa, our top scientist, vouch for this? Still, it is hard to believe."
Scarlett smirked, stepping closer. "Do you think I'm foolish? Look at my horns."
Elyndra shrugged dismissively. "Horns can be fabricated."
Scarlett's eyes flashed with irritation. "Fine. But only a demon can wield demon fire—and black wings."
She raised her hand, and a flickering flame of demonic energy appeared, its heat crackling in the air. Gritting her teeth, Scarlett strained as her black wings began to unfurl, their emergence slow and agonizing.
Elyndra's demeanor shifted, her disbelief giving way to guarded acceptance. "Fine. I believe you. But I'm still not telling you how to reach Hell."
Scarlett clenched her fists, her fury igniting a towering inferno of demon fire that roared around her.
"Stop!" Lyvessa stepped between them, her voice urgent. "Scarlett, it's not worth it. If you kill her, you'll create more problems than you solve."
Scarlett exhaled sharply, extinguishing the fire with a wave of her hand. "Fine. But if she won't help, how do I get back to Hell?"
Lyvessa glanced away, thinking. "We could try traveling planet to planet, searching for the way."
Scarlett frowned but nodded. "Then let's go."
She conjured a shimmering bubble around them.
Lyvessa blinked in confusion. "What's this for?"
Scarlett raised a brow. "Can you breathe in space?"
"Not without equipment," Lyvessa admitted.
"Then no time for that." Scarlett motioned for her to step inside the bubble.
As the protective sphere enveloped them, Scarlett muttered, "Close your eyes."
A sudden lurch, and when Lyvessa opened her eyes again, they were standing on desolate red soil beneath a blood-colored sky.
"How did we get here so fast?" Lyvessa asked, glancing around.
"Teleportation," Scarlett replied curtly. "Now let's see what we can find."
The planet was barren, a vast expanse of cracked, lifeless ground. But then, Lyvessa spotted something glinting in the distance.
"Over there!" she called, breaking into a run.
When she reached the source of the shine, she froze. It wasn't an object, as she'd thought, but two figures—suspended in time like statues.
Scarlett caught up, her eyes narrowing at the sight. "Who are they?"
Lyvessa knelt beside the frozen beings, her voice trembling. "Their names are Li and Lie... and they're locked in time.
