Chapter 16: The Queen and Demon Girl
The Demon Queen stood on the edge of her citadel's balcony, her silhouette outlined by the burning red skies of Hell. Her gaze was sharp, cutting through the thick tension like a blade. Behind her, the Demon Girl stood defiantly, her arms crossed, fire dancing in her eyes.
"Why do you delight in causing chaos?" the Queen asked, her voice low, cold, and edged with disappointment.
The Demon Girl flinched but quickly straightened, her chin lifting in defiance. "I don't delight in it. I don't cause the chaos!"
The Queen turned slowly, her presence towering. Her shadow stretched unnaturally, swallowing the light around her daughter. "Then tell me this—why is Hell in uprising? Why are the planets attacking us?"
The Demon Girl faltered. "Why would the planets attack us? That doesn't make sense."
The Queen's lip curled in disdain. "You don't understand war." She stepped closer, her heels clicking against the stone floor, each sound reverberating in the silence. "Hell is weak. Uprisings have fractured its core. Weakness invites predators. To the planets, we're nothing more than an easy win."
A flush of anger crossed the Demon Girl's face. She clenched her fists, fire flickering faintly around her fingertips. "This wouldn't have happened if you had given me my rightful throne!"
The Queen froze mid-step, then tilted her head slightly. Her dark laughter filled the air, chilling and mocking. "Your throne?" she said, turning fully to face her daughter. "You think Hell belongs to you?" Her voice dropped, quieter but no less menacing. "This is my kingdom. And it will go to Scarlett."
The Demon Girl's fire flared, her rage palpable. "Scarlett? You're giving the throne to her? That weak, soft child?" She took a step forward, her voice rising. "This kingdom was my father's! I am the eldest. I am full-blooded. I am his true heir. Hell wants me, not her!"
The Queen narrowed her eyes, the room seeming to darken around her. Her voice, when it came, was colder than the void between stars. "Do I look like I care? You will lead Hell into endless wars, into death without purpose or victory. Scarlett will bring balance. She will lead Hell to stability, something you could never do."
Scarlett Prepares
Scarlett stood atop a jagged cliff, her eyes scanning the desolate landscape of her planet. Behind her, Lyvessa approached cautiously, her footsteps barely audible over the howling wind.
"I need to get to Hell," Scarlett said, her voice firm, unwavering.
Lyvessa stopped, folding her arms. "Hell? You can't just walk in there. It's not a place we can reach."
Scarlett turned, her gaze blazing. "Hell is under attack from every corner of the galaxy. Someone on this planet knows the way, and I will find them."
Lyvessa hesitated, glancing at the ground. "If someone does know, they won't tell you. Especially not the ruler of this planet. She keeps everything close to her chest."
Scarlett's expression hardened. "Then I'll make her talk. If the other planets are attacking Hell, they've already found the way. I'll find it too, no matter the cost."
Kiki Defends Hell
The battlefield was chaos. The air was thick with smoke, ash falling like snow as fires consumed the wreckage of alien machines and ships. Kiki stood in the center, his crimson eyes glowing like embers in the darkness. Around him, the surviving soldiers of the enemy forces huddled together, trembling as they met his unyielding gaze.
Kiki took a step forward, the ground cracking beneath his feet. His voice was deep, resonant, and filled with scorn. "Go back to your kings and queens. Tell them what you saw here today."
The soldiers didn't move, frozen by fear.
Kiki tilted his head slightly, a cruel smile playing on his lips. "Tell them they'll never win. They are weak, insignificant—ants beneath the feet of Hell's might."
One of the soldiers stumbled back, nearly tripping in their desperation to flee. Kiki's smile vanished, replaced by a cold, terrifying calm. "We are the kings. You? You are nothing."
As the survivors scrambled away, Kiki turned his back on them, flames roaring in the distance. Hell was his domain, and he would defend it against all who dared to challenge its power.
