Chapter 18: War after war
Lyvessa crouched by the two frozen figures, her sharp eyes scanning their suspended forms. "Who could they be?" she murmured, her voice tinged with both curiosity and caution.
Scarlett stepped closer, her horns catching the faint red glow of the barren planet. "I don't know," she replied, her tone measured. "But they must know something. There's no other reason for them to be here."
Lyvessa glanced at Scarlett, a plan forming in her mind. "Use your demon fire—just a little. Then give me your blood."
Scarlett hesitated for a moment, then nodded. Raising her hand, she ignited a controlled flame, its flickering light reflecting off her dark eyes. With a sharp motion, she let the fire hover just enough to avoid causing damage. Lyvessa swiftly collected a few drops of Scarlett's blood and mixed it with a glowing instrument she had pulled from her satchel.
The air shifted as Lyvessa pressed the mixture against the time-locked figures. Slowly, the smaller figure stirred. "Li," it whispered hoarsely before collapsing.
The second figure, larger and more imposing, followed suit moments later. Lyvessa caught her breath, her gaze darting between the two as Scarlett conjured a protective bubble around them.
"What now?" Lyvessa asked, her voice quieter than usual.
Scarlett straightened, her resolve hardening. "We're going back to your planet first. I need answers."
At Hell, the Demon Girl stood inside the most fortified jail in the realm, its chains glowing with ancient power. Yet her spirit refused to be broken. Day after day, she trained in solitude, her hands flickering with flames. But these weren't ordinary flames. Over time, the familiar red gave way to a vibrant, otherworldly blue—a fusion of her demonic essence and her mastery over time.
"Blue Flames," she whispered, her voice sharp and resolute. This power was her weapon, a combination of Time Reduction and the pure might of demon fire.
Elsewhere, Kiki fought relentlessly against waves of enemy armies from countless planets. The battlefield was littered with the fallen, yet he remained standing, though exhaustion crept into his every movement. Looking out at the remnants of the latest assault, he growled, his voice carrying like thunder.
"This is your final warning!" he roared. "End this war, or I will come for your planet—and your family will be the first to fall."
Back at the Demon Queen's stronghold, she penned a letter with steady hands, her expression betraying the weight of her decisions. The message was meant for Kiki, the Demon Girl, and Scarlett:
"I never wished for this war. I hate it. I've fought and won countless battles, but now I feel the weight of loss closing in. I fear I will lose, or worse—I will lose all of you."
On Scarlett's side, the bubble shield shimmered as it carried them through the void of space. Inside, Scarlett glanced at the newly revived figures. "Who are you?" she demanded, her tone sharp.
The smaller figure stirred, her voice soft but steady. "I'm Li," she said. "The daughter of Kiki."
The taller figure, still regaining his strength, added, "And I'm Lie. Kiki's wife."
Scarlett's eyes widened as she processed their words. "Kiki… your family…" she murmured, her voice trailing off as the pieces of her journey began to fit together
