Demon Hunter and His Cabin

Chapter 787: Lord of the Mist's Legs_2

The Dragon Court was retreating bit by bit under his attack.

Initially, his power was not entirely focused on soul attacks.

One depiction merely outlined the form of the Lord of the Mist.

Even the mightiest ancestor of the Silver Dragon Clan was defenseless against his physical attacks; he traversed the Mist, leaving destruction in his wake.

At this pivotal moment, the Primordial Dragon halted the Lord of the Mist's expansion and tore his body apart, hiding it deep within the Plane for sealing.

No one knew why the Primordial Dragon chose sealing over destruction.

Whether it was a lack of power or some hidden reason.

Later, according to records in the Dragon Canon, the entire Plane experienced a long period of peace, but soon, with the disappearance of the Primordial Dragon's traces, the Lord of the Mist's power resurged.

This time, he transformed himself to create the Soul Realm, simultaneously dispatching Angel Envoy to find his sealed body.

"If I'm not mistaken, this could very well be a part of his body."

Of course, what he saw now was not the true form, only a leak of power from the seal; had Roger not accidentally harnessed the Misty World back then...

Then, even those Angel Envoy might have found this place long ago, just relying on that leaked trace.

To them, this world was too backward; human technology might seem powerful, but it's fundamentally different from Transcendent forces.

A mighty Fifth Tier Advent would be enough to tear apart the rules of this world; they wouldn't even need to act; the residual waves from unsealing would be sufficient to destroy this world.

What use would Dragon Court's assistance be then?

The battle between both sides would cause greater upheaval, only harming this world.

Fortunately, this leaked trace was enveloped by the Misty World of Roger.

With the existence of Hunter's Cabin, unless the Lord of the Mist came personally, he could certainly continue to hide this secret.

"In the end, this isn't the solution; it's best to transfer this world," Roger still felt a bit anxious.

The center of the Misty World, the deep abyss, and the chessboard.

All he was seeing now was the leaked power, and if the seal were broken...

He dared not imagine the consequence.

Even the Dragon Canon of the Silver Dragon Clan contained sparse descriptions of the Lord of the Mist; as for specific images, they were impossible to leave behind.

"His cruelty and greed are boundless; I've never heard of such a being, as if he exists solely to destroy and devour everything, plundering all the living resources of the entire Plane!"

This line from the Dragon Canon left a deep impression on Roger, causing him to involuntarily reflect on his mission.

"Will he be like me, coming here to save a world on the brink of destruction?"

Roger speculated.

Judging from his mannerisms, his aggressive approach was reminiscent of Nivagard from the Wizard World.

"He's definitely not like me; before coming here, he should have held a high position in Nivagard, perhaps one of the Great Nobles or a King."

There lay his memories, his family, and his subjects.

"But his unbridled way of plundering would surely provoke the entire Plane's counterattack, eventually leading to a siege."

There were those massive arms too.

Roger had a vague feeling that the Lord of the Mist must be planning something, perhaps his awakening wasn't too far off.

He was eager to transfer the Misty World now.

But he couldn't find a specific idea after thinking for a long time.

He did not recklessly touch that massive foot; given his current level of power, he might accidentally break the seal upon contact.

He clenched his fist, a silvery halo flowed across his skin.

That power belonged to Ares.

Judging by Ulmanis's attitude, even among their ranks, Ring Bearers above the Third Ring were considered mainstay forces.

Thus, after completing the Three Great Trials, Roger's power explosively increased, approaching the pinnacle of the Plane's elite.

And his evolutionary path was entirely different from others.

Having seen the example of the Lord of the Mist, Roger had no intention of grandly undertaking any collection efforts.

It's best to hide, then gradually spread his influence across the entire Plane through different Demon Hunter bases.

Starting from the basics, expanding the influence range, stealthily completing the collection of rules, after all, in the eyes of ordinary people, he was just a First Ring Ring Bearer.

That was no longer a mere task; it pertained to his future destiny.

Returning from the Misty World, the banquet at Kaer Morhen dispersed, everyone was very happy that day, seemingly having found a common direction.

Roger merged with the shadows, strolling down the streets of Kaer Morhen.

Just let it be, what does the Lord of the Mist's plan have to do with him?

What about the so-called mission?

If he continued to struggle, by the time he returned again, a hundred years would have passed, the castle in ruins, things changed and people gone.

Even if he completed the task, what difference would it make in the end?

Thus, at the banquet hall a while ago, upon seeing the hopeful eyes of everyone, Roger had already made up his mind.

This was his home.

It's worth protecting.

Don't neglect the view nearby in pursuit of distant goals.

As for the war between the Dragon Court and the Lord of the Mist, by the time that stage arrives, not only he but even the world might no longer exist.

Roger didn't seek anyone out, returning to his room to spend a remarkably tranquil night.

The next morning, as he rose, there was a flash of light at the edge of the Mist Forest.

The crowd departed Kaer Morhen, going back to their respective jobs.

Gatherings and separations happen, it's the norm.

But although parting, everyone wore smiles on their faces.

Because with Roger here, gatherings like yesterday surely wouldn't be few.

After a brief calmness, Roger plunged into busyness.

The expansion of the Demon Hunter powers required much understanding from him.

This time, he acquired numerous rule powers during his outing, and Hunter's Cabin continuously upgraded; Roger felt the necessity to reorder the entire training system of Kaer Morhen.

During this period, he took some time to return to Baytown too.

Baytown remained as peaceful as ever; Henrik had stationed many people here to ensure the residents lived unaffected by Transcendent events.

This time, meeting Adeline, she appeared noticeably older.

"Do you have regrets?"

"After all, my presence interrupted your peaceful life?"

Adeline leaned against the chair back, smilingly watching Roger.

"Towards family, there's nothing about regrets."

Roger stood up, approaching Adeline, "Won't you reconsider?"

"We have ways to let you..."

Adeline shook her head, "This is fine; everyone has their choices; time is short, so it's more worth cherishing."

Roger said nothing more, returning to Kaer Morhen.

In the real world, the Demon Hunter's team grew ever larger; with or without his involvement became irrelevant, yet his return significantly boosted all the Demon Hunters' strength.

Days passed peacefully.

Practicing swordplay, playing cards, drinking, horseback riding.

Occasionally messing around under flowers or grapevines.

Because of his presence, everyone frequently gathered here.

Carefree, it was the most pleasant time Roger had experienced since his traverse.

Until one day, a dragon's call shattered the peace, Sonia descended from the sky.

"I didn't expect your 'some time' to be a full five years."

Roger leaned against the rattan chair, draining his cup of wine.

"For us, it is just a bit of time."

"You must start adapting to this lifestyle; if you only indulge, time will seem long enough to bore you."

Sonia said with a smile.

"Set out now?" Roger stood up.

Sonia nodded, "If there's anything valuable, you better bring it, because it's not just a conference but also a trade fair."

"No need." Roger waved.

He stepped forward, then the scent of alcohol on him vanished, replaced by a standard Demon Hunter outfit, a sword slung diagonally at his back.

"Let's go, where are we headed?" He looked up at Hillrenes circling the sky.

Traveling by dragon wasn't bad.

"Summit of the Gods!"
