Chapter 742: Finding more helpers
After the duel, Ren regained control of his body and waited for Fyodor to wake up. While they were waiting Regus who did not know what to say finally noticed the beautiful woman standing beside Ren.
Long black hair that touches her waist an hourglass figure with a powerful aura. Regus with above-average looks has always been fawned over by many beautiful ladies, but none of those could compare to the lady standing beside Ren.
Regus had tasted the sweet allure of love for the first time in his life, but unfortunately, he knew that this was a feeling he could never express. It was obvious that the lady was with Ren, and he had no possible way to take her from him. Noticing the glancing gazes of Regus Tanith showed a rather seductive smile.
Seeing that smiling face Regus diverted his gaze as he wanted to desperately stop his beating heart. Tanith could not help but giggle as she saw Rugus's reaction.
"Hey Kid," Ren suddenly spoke. Regus was startled by Ren's voice who was now looking at him.
"... What is it?"
"How are you related to this old man?" Ren pointed at the unconscious Fyodor.
"He's my master."
"Oh... The old man actually took a student."
Ren was a little surprised. Based on the memory Christoph shared with him about Fyodor, the old man in the past was only focused on training himself. Even though he had many people wanting to learn from him the old man rejected all who came.
'This means this kid is either very talented or the old man found more time for himself when he could not find Christoph, or it could be both.'
Ren looked at Regus he could already tell a little bit about how good the other party was based on his physique and the mana emanating from him.
"You got me interested come on then show me what you've got and attack me."
"... What?"
"What don't you understand, I'm interested in how good you are so come and show me what you've got."
Regus knew that this opportunity to face off against the strongest the legendary Demon Slayer was not something he could get a second time so his heart was beating faster than ever before. Regus got into the same fighting stance as Fyodor.
Regus used the same lightning slash as Fyodor and Ren easily dodged the strike and countered. Unlike when Christoph was controlling Ren's body, Ren did not use the same techniques and dealt with Regus in a different way.
Ren simply stepped to the side extended his leg and hit Regus's leg which made the other party stumble forward from his own momentum.
...
Tanith found it amusing to see the many similarities Ren had with Edge and Rei. It was fun to watch that joyful smile while he was playing around with his opponent. Watching the scene before her made Tanith feel warm inside and she could not help but smile.
'As expected the only time I can feel this happy and excited is when I'm with him.'
...
Fyodor who was on the ground still feeling a bit woozy was hearing the sound of the steps used for lightning slash. In the beginning, what he heard were messy steps that his disciple usually used, but as time went by he heard the sound of the footsteps becoming lighter and the movement used from the initial step to the next was becoming fewer and fewer.
Fyodor opened his eyes and saw Ren sparring with his disciple Regus. The way Regus was attacking was becoming sharper each time he missed. Seeing the scene before him made Fyodor sigh as he clicked his tongue.
'Damn, he's also better at teaching than me.'
...
After the brief sparring session with Regus who was now on the floor breathing heavily, Ren had a conversation with Fyodor, telling the other party a summary about the state of things. When Fyodor and his disciple heard Ren's explanation they found themselves in awe, afraid, and confused.
Fyodor and his disciple Regus were in an era that was similar to the Middle Ages but with a little bit of steampunk mixed in. They were still thinking that the world was flat and that they could reach the edge if they were not careful. Even Fyodor who has traveled two continents was afraid of the so-called edge of the world.
Now Ren was here telling him a lot of new things like the world they were in was round, and the stars that were twinkling above the night sky weren't spirits looking down on them from heaven, but instead were many more worlds like theirs.
"If those things weren't shocking enough now you're telling me that you're trying to fight not just one God but all the Gods plus the creator of everything himself, and that you want someone like me to fight alongside you."
Fyodor looked at Ren with a dumbfounded expression but then he suddenly started laughing heartily.
"HAHAHA!!! As expected of a reincarnation of Christoph you're insane as well. Those were the same lines he told me right before we faced off against the Demon and his minions. So is it the same plan as before, I'll hold off the Gods while you fight the ORIGIN?
Even though I'm sure that I'm no match against even a so-called New God, I'll gladly become cannon fodder for a chance to join a battle that will shake reality itself. If we win our names will be immortalized."
"Heh, as expected of someone who never stops challenging the strong. Don't worry you won't face those Gods as cannon fodder, before that fight my past incarnations will train you."
"Oh, I can't wait to meet those who were called the strongest of their eras."
"Umm, excuse me, sir." Regus cut into the conversation.
"What is it?"
"I know that I might not be as good as my master, but I promise I will train hard and will follow any instruction, so can I please join you in this quest of yours?"
"Huh, what are you talking about, I was always thinking of taking you with us."
"Thank you, sir!" Regus bowed his head in joy while Fyodor patted his disciple's back while laughing.
"Then I would like to welcome the two of you aboard the train to either the end of times or to eternal glory."
