Chapter 321
"Damn the alliance. They not only kept the location of the prison a secret, but it was also heavily guarded", Big One cursed, as he observed with the other four from a distance.
Though he may have uttered those words, he didn't mean anything. It was just a cover for his fake genuineness for this mission.
To him, the longer the supreme rots in prison, the better.
Of course, he couldn't say that. If he does, the other four would become suspicious of him and could even start a civil war, a war that he was not yet ready for.
A few more months, he could have taken over the cult and eliminated the other four, becoming the new supreme, but because of Big Three, he had to play the part of a loyal dog to the supreme, for now.
The others came here to retrieve the supreme, and if that appears impossible, they want to silence him before more secrets regarding the cult are exposed, but Big One has a different idea.
He wants to silence the supreme.
Though the other four wouldn't be scrambling to secure their assets, which the supreme would leak, he would still be able to secure the assets left behind by the supreme and could overwhelm others through his improved power.
It was the only choice that he had now.
Of course, there was another plan in his mind, which he intended to implement during this mission, if possible, although there was no guarantee of success, as it would save him time and effort.
---
The five sat in their submarine, a ship with a viewing room, from which they watched the battle. They are not going to get killed early; in fact, none of the five has a wish to die in this battle.
They sent the cannon fodder to weaken the prison's defences.
Many had already died, and many more would before the five even intervened in the fight. The cannon fodder was brought for this very purpose, to reduce the defences of the prison, and little by little, the defences are going down.
Now they had to wait until the outer defences were down, and wait they did.
"Ah, there goes the outer defences. There are even gaps forming in the Inner defences. I think it is high time we get directly involved in this battle. The sooner we get the supreme, the sooner we can leave, before they get a chance to signal for reinforcements", Big Two said.
Before the attack started, they cut off the signals to the outside. This way, the prison can't call for any reinforcements from the outside.
Although it was a secret place, an attack would expose it, and sending reinforcements to secure the area would not be out of the question.
Being a secret post, there were no regular communications with the alliance. Silence for a long time would not be perceived as unusual in this situation.
If it were any other place, staying offline for long would be suspicious, but in this place, there is such an advantage to the attacking parties in this way. As long as they cut off communication with the outside, there would be no reinforcements for the defence side, unless an anomaly appears. However, those are anomalies for a reason, as the chances of such things happening are low.
Once the cult cut off the prison's means of communication with the outside, they launched the attack. So, there are no reinforcements for the prison. They have to do with the forces and defences that they currently possess, nothing more.
---
With the outer defences gone, the five entered the battle, but the forces there were not their main target.
They skipped the guards positioned there and entered the prison.
The Big Three pulled out a map on their comm and started walking in the direction indicated on the map.
The other four are a bit confused. The map was perfect. Though they have no idea whether she was taking them in the right direction, the pathways are perfect.
When the others first saw the map, they believed it was an old blueprint that she had somehow obtained, but upon closer inspection, everything is perfectly aligned.
It was the latest map of the prison, which astonished them, and Big One became a bit wary this time around.
Getting hands-on with old blueprints is not the same as getting hands-on with the latest ones.
This prison was old. Therefore, there should have been a few modifications made over the years, implying that there should have been at least a few differences in the map; however, it synced perfectly.
"Where did she find such a perfect map? Wait, she never told how she even found the prison in the first place", Big One thought to himself, growing about the absurdities that had happened.
This prison, which was the best-kept secret of the alliance, something not even the president of the alliance knew much about, was known to someone in the enemy faction, down to the most minor details.
"Something is wrong with this situation. I need to be careful", Big One thought to himself.
It was not just he who thought, but also the other three.
They may have agreed with Big Three on this mission to save or silence the supreme, as they were suffering from the leaks from him, but they don't have any ideas about what comes next.
They are not stupid.
If the supreme was saved, things would return to the way they were, but if he was silenced, a civil war would erupt between the five for leadership. It was a fact that everyone knew and everyone had their own plans regarding that, but this new information started to cause discomfort among them.
Even though that was so, they acted as if nothing had changed; for now, nothing had changed. Only when they leave the prison will things change, and it depends on how well this mission goes.
---
Soon, the five came to a point where the path diverged into ten paths, exactly.
"As discussed before, each would take two paths as their responsibility. Clear the paths of any guards, and release any criminals that might be useful. We need as much chaos as possible to make our mission objective a possibility", Big Three spoke, while the other four nodded their heads.
They knew that this mission would not be easy. The Alliance leaders are not idiots. Even in this secure prison, they would have secured the supreme depths of hell. To reach and release him, they need a lot of time, and the chaos that they are going to unleash would create the time they need.
The four nodded their heads, and each took one of the two paths that were assigned long ago.
