Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent

Chapter 322

The five each took a path to clear. They had two each to clear of any guards hiding there and release any potential allies or cannon fodder that could be useful for their mission.

Though they brought a lot of cannon fodder, most of them died while breaching the defences. The prison's defences were very high, and they didn't have enough time or resources to bring sufficient attack power to breach them without incurring significant losses.

Additionally, they sought to create enough chaos to facilitate the completion of their mission.

Although they have cut off communications with the outside world, there is no guarantee that no one might suspect something is wrong with the prison.

There might be regular communications with the outside world, or at least that's what the Big Three told others at the start.

As the four started to clear the path of guards and open doors, they began to think.

They never trusted Big Three in the first place. They only followed her because their goals were currently aligned. The longer the supreme remains incarcerated, the severe the damage would be to their empires.

They all worked for the supreme, but they had individual ideas. They created their own empires in secret, never to be known by the supreme or the other four, but some of the assets that were destroyed or caught belonged to their secret empire.

It told them one thing. Their secret empire is not a secret at all.

They understood that the supreme has eyes everywhere. Everything that they did, he was aware of. If he wanted to, he could have stopped, even destroyed their empires long ago. The only reason for their existence was that he didn't care. He only cared that the cult missions progressed well, at least the important ones.

Above that, the supreme didn't care much about their secret work, or else they would have been long dead.

There was one problem, though. If he knew, then he could give those secrets to the alliance, and everything that they had built for years would be for nothing.

It's for this reason that they agreed to this mission.

The Supreme turned out to be a liability and a danger to their empires. None of them wanted to save the supreme, but only on the outside did they agree to save them. They wanted to silence him if possible, as this would be the best time and place to do so after all.

The alliance should have confined him, restricting his access to mana and other strengths, whatever he possesses. If not, he should have escaped a long time ago.

It is a golden opportunity for them to rise in the hierarchy and reach the peak.

They didn't start at the top as the Big ones. They started at the bottom and slowly rose to the top by spilling the blood of both the alliance and the cult alike.

In the cult, there is no such thing as camaraderie. There is only competition to death. The one who lives would get the power and wealth. Nothing more, Nothing less.

It has always been like that, from the start.

One would backstab their colleagues and even their superiors to reach higher ranks, but for these five, they stopped near the top. They couldn't take the top spot, which was held by the supreme.

They wanted to, every day, every minute, but the supreme is stronger than they are. Therefore, any direct movement against the supreme would backfire. So, they continued to work in secret to increase their power and wealth, with the ultimate goal of erasing the other four and even the supreme, thereby securing the top seat. However, all their efforts went down the drain.

With the raids happening all over their secret places, they now came to know that the supreme knew about the existence of their secret empires and their plans to overthrow him.

The only reason he didn't take action was that he didn't care enough, as they were never threatening sufficient for him to take action.

So, in their minds, everyone felt the need to silence the Supreme as soon as possible and the plan that Big Three put out provided them a way to do that exactly.

Although the main objective was to rescue the supreme, as stated by the Big Three, on the surface, they agreed; however, everyone had plans to eliminate the supreme.

It was not just Big One who was thinking about eliminating the supreme and, if possible, the other four during this mission, as there are many ways to do that, without anything leading back to them.

If other cult members find out that they killed the supreme on purpose to usurp his seat, then what the world knew could become a truth.

Most of the world believed that there were multiple cults. Except for a few in the higher hierarchy, everyone, whether they were part of the alliance, the cult, or even independent, believed that there were multiple cults.

If the cult breaks apart, everything that they worked for would be for nothing.

So, everyone has their own plans to either use the prisoners, alliance guards or even one of the other four as a scapegoat for the fall. If one of the four becomes the scapegoat, that would be for the best.

This way, they could easily secure the spot with less competition, but for that to happen, timing was necessary. To achieve this, they started negotiating with the prisoners they had released.

Of course, they didn't make it obvious. They only provided the criminals who escaped with enough information and rewards, as long as the work was done silently and without leaving any evidence.

This was almost the plan of everyone of the five, more or less. They wanted to quietly eliminate the supreme and take his job, without being branded as his killer, and at the same time, eliminate the competition.

---

Everyone has their own plans, but what they don't know is that they are walking into the lion's den with a small hammer. They will soon understand why he was supreme and how he became the biggest thorn to the alliance.
