Chapter 103: The First Mission [2]
Clank!
Beyond the cryptic doors of the mission hall was a scene Jinn had never expected to see.
As soon as he entered the room, he was greeted by several projections that filled the empty walls with images, details, numbers, and various other things.
Students were standing in lines before counters at the far end of the room. But not everyone was in a hurry to take a mission.
Some groups were standing before the projections, not looking at them but waiting.
'Are they looking for students to form a group with?' Jinn recalled the warning his class had received yesterday. The teacher told them unless it was a miscellaneous mission, they were supposed to form groups to keep themselves from harm's way.
Many might see this as troublesome, but Jinn felt different.
'Isn't this the perfect way to gather information on the abilities of these students?' Suppressing the grin that threatened to appear on his face, he moved forward.
No one had been asked to reveal their abilities before other students, and from what he saw, no one was willing to do so.
The powers granted from the blessings were the lifeline of any Spiritualist or aura reader.
Approaching one of the projections, he started reading the context. Just like what professor Skinner had said, there were different categories of missions.
Simple missions that did not require any combat abilities.
They might seem like a waste of time, but in reality they were necessary missions for someone who wanted to make quick points without taking any risks.
Then came the missions where the risks were minimal and the student could also practice their powers while also acting solo sometimes.
But for a demonic mission, the danger was always a possibility, and there was not a chance for him to even think of taking it alone.
The teachers had prohibited everyone from the first year from taking on a task on their own.
The mission board Jinn was looking at belonged to the harmless category.
It was not that he wanted to take a task like this; he simply wanted to take a look at the contents.

"Yeah, nobody is that desperate." Just as Jinn rolled his eyes, thinking who would even take such a task for just a few points, he noticed another student looking at the same task with a dreamy look in his eyes and a drool hanging from his lips.
'What—it seems I spoke too soon.' Shaking his head, Jinn looked away. 'Isn't he the same boy who got tied up by the professor during the orientation?'
Jinn recalled the scene from the first day and realized that the boy had awakened some weird, unspeakable fantasies.
The concept of masochism was beyond the comprehension of a sadist like him.
After looking at the images of a few of the other missions, Jinn looked away and moved to the next board.
Images like these were present on every mission. It helped the students to understand and recognize the correct item they had to pick.
On the Wilderness side there were missions that had to be completed outside the city.

Jinn could not help but feel a chill just from reading the overview of the task without getting into the description.
What scared him was the words of the professor and not the images of the spider.
The creature shown on the board was two meters tall, clearly bigger than an average human.
Those sharp, hairy legs that could rip you apart from the stomach made Jinn tremble where he stood.
With just a quick look, he turned his attention to the next task. 'Yeah, I am not touching any one of professor Dunn's tasks.'

'Hmm…'
Feeling a bit curious when he came across a familiar name, Jinn read the description of the task.
[ Description: On the night of every New Moon, special spots appear all around the world by the grace of gods.
These spots are usually water reservoirs or a clearing in the middle of the forest.
No matter how unclean or dirty the water is, during the time of this magical evening, it turns so clear that even the night sky shimmering with the blush of stars is forced to look at its beauty in it.
During this phenomenon, a magical liquid that defies all logic and drives the uncontrollable is squeezed from the lingering moonlight in the air.
The liquid is collected on the site blessed by everything holy. ]
[ Beware: The Liquid draws the desire of all who cannot fathom its beauty; it does not matter whether they are human or not. Although the dangers normally do not exceed the capabilities of a person with an awakened Root chakra, it is better to act with caution. ]
Dew of Moonless Night was something Jinn was familiar with since he had used it in his awakening process.
Now, reading such a detailed description about the material he procured so easily, he could not help but marvel at the miracles of the world.
'No wonder this material was used in something as divine as awakening.' Thinking of this, Jinn moved on to the next board, where he instantly stopped reading the name of the task right before his eyes.
