Deal with The Devil!

Chapter 104: The First Mission [3]

___________

Exorcism of The Herbert Manor

Points: 300

Danger: Highly Dangerous.

Remark: Only someone blessed by the one-eyed goddess or the God of the End is needed.

___________

'Just highly dangerous?' From what Jinn understood, the dangers of the manor far exceeded what mere students could interfere in.

'Not to mention the mother, the real cause of all; the daughter is not something weak to be interested in.'

If it were not the case, he would have let Agnes stay and help, but she would only be in danger there, and he knew it.

But then his eyes landed on the description of the task, and he understood everything.

[Description: The Lady of the Herbert Family manor is being tormented by great evil.

The order needs two students to help assist Bishop Marx with the exorcism of Lady Herbert.

Note: Students are only responsible for the role granted to them by the bishop on the spot.

'They don't even know about the daughter…'

Or maybe they did but only thought that she was just infected by her mother.

From what he understood, the situation was already on the edge of getting out of control.

Tessa did not have the body and mind of an adult, let alone an awakened human, so she would not last in her current state.

'The church is really stingy on points as well. Just 300 points for standing in the face of danger.'

Knowing the real difficulty of the task, Jinn shook his head inwardly.

There was no way he would take on a task like that.

As he looked around, his eyes landed on another task that he was familiar with.

_________

Carrier of Devil's Disease on the loose!!!

Points: 250

Danger Level: High.

_________

[ Description: Help Head Priest David track the carrier of the devil's disease. The points may increase with the level of information….]

'...I should tell Agnes to be more careful.' Jinn thought to himself while reading the description, which held more information than the article read in the newspaper.

The church had not spared any words in defaming the maid.

They painted her as the greedy witch who sold her everywhere to the devil and got nothing but a deadly disease in return.

"This is a problem." Hearing the faint voice coming from next to him, Jinn turned his head and saw Evelyn standing there with an expressionless face.

Following her lifeless eyes, he saw what she was looking at.

It was none other than the exorcism task, the same one he had ignored earlier.

"If only there was someone who I could team up with." As if feeling his gaze, she continued with her flat tone, making Jinn's lips twitch.

'Is she for real…' Jinn saw through her actions as easily as he turned to face her. Anyone could see she was standing there on purpose, trying to get him to join her for the task.

She knew Jinn was blessed with one of the two required terms, and she had the other one, so the mission was kind of specially made for them.

'But it does not matter…' shaking his head with a long sigh, Jinn turned around and moved back past Evelyn, walking to the second projection.

No matter how much the girl wanted, Jinn did not want to take the chance when he was not even well versed with his abilities.

Besides, he was not really blessed by a one-eyed Goddess like the others came to believe.

Evelyn blinked a few times in confusion before following after him.

"Are you worried about the difficulty?" Realizing her perfect acting was seen through, she gave up all pretense and caught up to the boy.

"Not really." Jinn lied through his teeth without blinking and focused on the second projection. "I just don't feel like diving into the deep end right from the start."

The Wilderness Mission.

Evelyn followed his gaze and read the mission details.

"Do you want to collect the Dew of The Moonless Night?" Even she had a tone of disbelief in her voice.

"Even though today is the day of the new moon, the task itself is quite tedious and time-consuming."

"Not to forget the demons that roam in the wilderness, hiding from the order would be attracted to the beast, but you would even encounter other merchants or mercenaries for hire to try and collect this material."

Of course, Jinn knew this. The only reason this dew did not attract high-level Spiritualists or Aurers was because there was more than one special spot in a single area where the dew could be extracted by nature from nature.

And since the dew had no other use besides creating a special concoction for the awakening task, its value was not that high.

So the strenuous task was left to the weaker individuals.

"Now that I have gotten familiar with fighting, I should get experience in the real world. I won't be getting that by standing in a closed room with a bunch of old men reciting words of gods."

Even though he knew about the real difficulty of the task, he did not share it with anyone else. There was no meaning in doing so.

Evelyn turned silent for a second; meanwhile, Jinn had already turned after looking at the screen for some time.

As told by professor Skinner, he walked up to the closest counter and stood in line.

Feeling the presence of someone behind him, he looked over to see Evelyn standing there with a calm look on her face.

"Don't worry, I will not take that task today but will take tasks that are suitable for my powers." The Cursed Princess clarified, thinking Jinn would assume she was stalking him.

Just as Jinn was about to heave a sigh of relief inwardly, she continued.

"...we will go tomorrow."

"..."

When it was finally his turn, Jinn spoke just as the ones before him did, "SW3696, SW4576, SW8473."

Every task had a serial number attached to it, which can be used to track the active quests and completed ones.
