DC: The Wolf God's Legend

Chapter 20: Chapter 20 - Question & Batgirl's Findings

"So I suppose that means you do not know about what happened during or after the Godfall?" His words caused Artemis to shiver.

"No." She took a deep breath taking in the snowy crisp air. "I only know what I experienced. I felt Olympus falling back to Earth. Honestly, it was relaxing to feel the weight of godhood removed. Only reason I am as powerful as I am is because I had brought all my artifacts with me from my pantheon in Olympus. Just as you suggested."

"Hmm… that is good, it means you are at least a demigod. But it appears the Greek Gods all ditched Olympus when it fell. Scattering across the globe before losing their godly powers. So their artifacts were left in Olympus. Fortunately the various world governments did not notice the appearance of an additional island appearing near Themiskyra. Same with those heroes and the majority of the villains."

"Hmm… What about the Greek heroes and villains? I am sure they noticed."

"They did, but I was ready for it so I was there first. I looted Olympus dry. Then as I was leaving I saw the various monsters that held a grudge against Greek gods attacking the Island. Along with a large number of Greek heroes fighting back, of course they were outmatched since I had killed the bulk of heroes."

"What about Diana? She is both a demigod and a hero of Greek origin. How did she not notice? I may not know what the demigods felt but considering the gods felt something world shattering I doubt it was small."

"It wasn't, according to my wife- actually my ex-wife now, our daughter cried for a few days straight when it happened. But I had pre orchestrated something that would keep the Justice League and Diana out of our solar system."

"What did you do?"

"I set up a trap, made it look like Lex Luthor's doing, then literally teleported them to another system using a zeta beam."

"Hmm…" Artemis looked at him with narrowed eyes, "how many people died?"

"Maybe a few were injured, but no one was dead as far as I am aware."

"Just make sure you do not take it too far. Remember I warned you about your subtle chaotic actions."

"I know." Mylo sighed as they walked into the field where the base was. "We both know, since we are the two halves of chaos incarnate we have been careful. Making controlled chaos here and there, accidentally creating events like the Godfall. Careful to not bring too much order without adding our own brand of chaos."

"Walking a tightrope, I am surprised you haven't found a solution."

"Actually I am working on that now. I am sure you have heard of Morgana."

Artemis frowned as they walked toward a massive bonfire where screams could be heard, "yes, the opposite of Merlin the Wizard. She is knowledgeable enough, but I would suggest you find the House of Mysteries. The collected knowledge there could be of great use."

Mylo was about to continue when he saw that there were burning several men at the stakes. He had to look away because they were gruesomely maimed. The fact they were still alive was a testament to their ability to survive. "I agree, I am more keeping a lookout for now. The only place I will 'plunder' for knowledge anytime soon will be Superman's Fortress of Solitude."

"What's wrong? Getting squeamish?" Artemis asked as she noticed him turning away.

He rolled his eyes before walking away, "I am going to start writing up a contract. Join me when your people are done partying and celebrating."

—----------------------------------

"Batman." The Question was still in the cave and at this point he was starting to smell nasty. From what Tim had told him, Question was working around the clock and had taken up a large part of the cave. Looking at the pictures and documents attached across the room by string he would assume the man had gone mad.

"Question, please tell me that there is a reason my cave looks like this?" He waved toward the strings.

"The Ghosts of Cadmus. I was able to piece together the majority of their history. Unfortunately there are still blank spaces in time where I can only assume they did covert things without their bosses permission." He then moved to one area where the strings all lead to a photo of a fiery bird.

"The Phoenix I assume."

"Scarlett Fenix, born 1996, grew up in Gotham. Attended Gotham Academy, which is where Batgirl picked up the trail." Question turned to Barbara who was typing on a laptop.

"Scarlett had anger issues growing. Her parents were divorcing when she was young so she lashed out. She was on her last strike when she met Mylo, who started directing her anger in a positive way. As he quickly graduated she stayed and finished school, grading highest in her programming classes. It is unconfirmed but she apparently hacked into the pentagon when she was about to graduate High School. Her psychological evaluations all showed she was incredibly smart and aggressive, unfortunately the evaluations came to nothing as she graduated without issue. Reportedly she went straight into the military, training as an officer."

"Which is where I picked her up again. They did a stint in special operations but proved too good for it. When they were 'miraculously' recruited by Cadmus, there was a note in her file that she hacked government systems in order to get appointed to the positions. They were placed in Amanda Waller's Special Operations Unit, so she covered for them. More than likely she saw something in them. They went around the world doing operations with a squad of soldiers, with her operating under the callsign Phoenix from her fiery personality. I have them all listed here but there were only three operations of note."

Batman raised an eye under his cowl, "only three?"

"The first was a mission to South America, where they assassinated several meta-humans that a local warlord was using as muscle. It was the first record of deviation from orders and protocol. They were supposed to capture them but instead killed the meta-humans and several members of the warlord's council including the warlord himself. There was a note added later that revealed the warlord was working for a rogue section of Cadmus that were artificially creating meta-humans. Apparently the warlord was also using his sway and pull to operate an international sex trafficking ring kidnaping children and young women, which is why they were never punished." Question explained as handing a file to Batman.

"Hmm… South America? Wasn't there a civil war that had a large number of deaths?" Batman asked. Looking at the date it lined up with the civil war. The chaos was so substantial that even the Justice League were called in to help with peace talks.

"The second was a mission to Africa, they were sent in to retrieve an ancient artifact of alien origin. Which actually aligned perfectly for when the Thanagarians invaded. The records revealed that a group of Thanagarians had appeared years before, but the rest of the information wasn't there. The only mention of the artifact was that it was large enough that they brought in a tanker ship to move it. While they were there they executed a squadron of Thanagarian soldiers. A small imperceptible blimp while the invasion was combated worldwide."

"What was so notable about that?" Barbara asked while listening in.

"Nothing if it wasn't for a note in the file that was left behind asking Waller to procure as many weapons and technology from the Thanagarians as possible along with Nth metal." Question explained.

"Hmm… meaning one if not both of them are tech savvy enough to make use of that kind of technology. I knew they at least had a way to get into the watchtower, but this might be a whole other beast." Batman explained as he could feel a headache coming on.

"Which brings me to their final mission. Where they disappeared immediately afterwards. The mission was an attempt to procure Lazarus water, as we have already figured out. Both Scarlett and Mylo were unaware as Luthor had bribed superiors. But Waller notes that both were originally listed as MIA until that was later adjusted and they were instead listed as being on leave, There was no other explanation in their files. For two years they stay off the grid until they return and become the Ghosts of Cadmus."

"Which is when I can pick up the slack." Tim walked in with a tablet in hand. His hair looked messy, almost as if he hadn't slept in a few days. "During their time MIA I managed to figure out that they were a part of the League of Assassins. I was not able to figure out their cover identities but I figured out from Lex Luthor's files that he figured out that they were originally prisoners until Ra's started training them. Then at some point during that time they gained abilities that caused Luthor to act cautiously around them."

"What about the other one, Mylo?" Batman asked, already having read several of the files and knowing the highlights of missions and their extensive combat record.

"Graduated top of his high school class at twelve years of age. Got a Doctorate in psychology at 16. Then proceeded in spreading his wings and getting degrees in several other things for the next two years. As well as mixed martial arts and acrobatics as a hobby. I will be honest, even without them both apparently having abilities they would be an issue. Are we sure these guys are enemies?" Barbara asked nervously as she handed Batman the comprehensive files on both Scarlett and Mylo about their childhood until they joined the military.

"Hmmm… we will see. Question, I want to ask you to find something for me." Batman turned to Question, "but first, take a break and rest."
