DC: The Wolf God's Legend

Chapter 19: Chapter 19 - Viking Werewolf

Mylo moved quickly; he bounced off of trees causing a whirlwind of snow to follow. The cold was chilly but it barely stung for him as he looked further into the distance he saw the buildings of the camp. One last leap and he was moving through the buildings growling at what he saw.

Women in cages wearing tattered clothes. Inside the buildings he could hear screaming, men hollering and cheering. He clicked his tongue in annoyance and swiped his hand through a mercenary that was patrolling, turning him into paste. He did the same to a few others before arriving in front of a cage with a number of angry women.

When he approached the one in front a blonde with scars covering her visible skin growled at him. "Not the angriest flirting I have ever encountered," he hooked as he grabbed the cage door and tore it off its hinges. "I killed a bunch, but left their weapons intact. My comrade will be here soon to assist you."

He then sped off tearing up the ground and snow as he went. He could hear in the distance as the woman moved quickly. Unfortunately he could not stay long to help, he had something else on his plate.

A few minutes later he was arriving on a battlefield. One side were Artemis and her huntresses; the other had an army of werewolves with a few mages supporting them. He frowned as he noticed the lack of magic on the huntresses side.

Since he was not noticed he stopped and quietly began chanting a spell. While he was chanting he was sparsely hidden behind some bushes and trees. But as he was hiding he spotted Artemis flinching and quickly glancing in his direction, her eyes widened for a moment but she looked away and smiled as she launched a few more translucent blue arrows.

The werewolf opposing her was several times larger than the others. His fur black with his hair braided in many places. He smiled a toothy grin with his gnarled and yellow teeth when he saw her smile.

"Why are you smiling Artemis? Ready to be my bitch." He makes a mood motion with his hips. In one hand he has a round shield in one hand and an axe in the other. "Ready to bear my pups. Like a good little wolfie."

Artemis frowned and rolled her eyes, "forget it Magnus. You are already dead." She then backed up as a large translucent barrier appeared stopping the invaders from getting any closer.

"Barrier." The entire battlefield went quiet as that single word echoed across the snow. Stepping out of the treeline was Mylo his metal gloves were smoking and blackened. He frowned as he tossed the smoking gloves to the ground, "well I guess I learned that lesson." He looked up to the two opposing groups that were looking at him in surprise. He smiled, "can't use basic steel as a conduit for magic."

"Who the hell are you? Bring down this barrier! I want my whores!" The large werewolf sounded angry and he had an accent, was that Norwegian? He moved past his comrades while some of the huntresses whispered confusedly to Artemis.

She smiled in response as she gave a short wave to Mylo and her body shrunk from the large archery form the size of a building in a white gown with her auburn flowing hair and shining silver eyes down to the same size as the rest of her huntresses.

"I wouldn't bother. Trigon followers' magic is too weak to take on magic of my caliber." Mylo put his hands in his pockets as he shrugged. The Norwegian werewolf growled.

"Your mere show magic is no match for my magic granted by my lord!" One of the robed Trigon followers began chanting and reached out his hand sending a plume of field to the barrier. It bounced off and went back at him twice the size setting him aflame, "Aaahhh!" He was still alive but now he was burning, watching as his own hands turned to ash as well as the rest of him.

"Well that was entertaining…" Mylo chuckled out.

"Kill him," The one called Magnus yelled out as he turned to the barrier, "once he is dead the barrier will fall."

"Ha…" Mylo sighed as he rolled his shoulders, "how annoying." After a moment he stepped towards the wave of werewolves that were bounding toward him. But they skidded to a stop when his form began changing. He grew to nine feet, his hair turning white while it grew throughout his body covering him. His feet grew, his shoes disappearing, clawed feet covered in white hair replacing it. His head grew as his snout appeared. His teeth elongated and his canines appeared.

It was only a span of a few seconds but he went from a normal human to a white haired werewolf that was lanky and tall. He had a grin that was devilish in nature. He moved one foot up and began bouncing on his other foot. Then he disappeared and not a moment later the werewolves exploded in blood, after another moment the rest disappeared with only the Norwegian werewolf left along with a few others which were stronger than the others.

"What?" Magnus looked around in confusion as Mylo was only gone for a few seconds. Enough for him to bring up his shield but not process what happened. Mylo appeared in his werewolf form but his hands and claws were caked in blood.

Mylo grins and growls. He then leaped forward and started tearing Magnus' remaining allies into two parts. As he methodically made his way through the werewolves, Magnus began backing up in fear. But when Mylo finished off the last of Magnus' allies he dashed towards him.

Magnus blocked the first strike using his shield, getting a view of Mylo's claw which chipped away at his shield and made him back up. It was accompanied by another attack that Magnus backed up from, barely managing to dodge a fatal attack but the air pressure from the strike severed his arm.

"Aahhh!" Magnus screamed in pain as he tried to counter attack. Swinging his shield it hit another attack but the shield broke this time. But before he could reposition, the hand coming towards him grabbed Magnus by the beard instead of killing him. "What are you-"

Before Magnus could finish his sentence he was thrown towards the shield. The last thing he felt before his death was the electric shock from the barrier that Mylo had put up.

Mylo smashed Magnus skull into the barrier causing it to splatter like a water balloon, except bloody and with bits of brain. Mylo stepped back; he was mostly covered in blood, his white fur coated red and with spots of innards here and there.

Artemis and her huntresses were stunned at the brutality. He turned the previous white field of snow into a field of red. He raised a hand and tapped the barrier with one of his claws and it shattered. As it was falling it disappeared, leaving a stunned group as Mylo appeared in his clothes from before clean of blood.

"Artemis."

"Mylo," Artemis looked around before walking forward. "Should I assume your lack of rush to go and save my captured comrades means you have already saved them or-"

"Scarlett has it covered but I did release a few of your people on the way over here." Mylo turned away and started walking towards the base he passed by. "I hope you don't mind me interfering. I needed to speak to you about an opportunity."

Artemis walked alongside him. "Give me a moment, Huntresses go assist freeing our people. We will get there in a bit." She then turned to him, "what is this opportunity?"

"Simple, you and your Huntresses come work for me." She narrowed her eyes and Mylo chuckled and rolled his eyes. "Get your head out of the gutter. I need capable operatives who have experience with magic. Unlike those barbarians I have no need to go around breeding everything with a hole."

"Not to mention you have enough looks to seduce any woman you choose. I am sure you could have a slew of offspring if you wanted." Artemis jokes. But she also knows it to be true.

"Not necessarily, I can't get into all the nuances but not all women can bear my children. The work wouldn't always be legal but you would know the purpose most of the time. There will also be times where you might end up going against some of your peoples' former allies." He quickly changed subjects to avoid an uncomfortable conversation.

"Yeah… yeah. We will need protection, a safe place to stay. As well as an area to hunt. There are a number of other conditions as well. But I would feel more secure if we got seated and wrote down things first."

"That is fair, I believe they will be done by the time we get there. I haven't seen you since you warned me about Perseus and the other Greek heroes. I can only assume that did not go over well with the rest of your pantheon."

Artemis actually frowns and looks down at that, "you are right. My decision quickly split the pantheon, last I heard is that they were poised for civil war. Zeus and his paranoid followers on one side, Hera and her followers on the other. Then there's Ares and his people who see it as a golden opportunity to get stronger." She sighed before she continued, "Hestia and a few others went neutral, but my brother was particularly gung-ho about joining Zeus' crusade."

"So I suppose that means you do not know about what happened during or after the Godfall?" His words caused Artemis to shiver.
