Chapter 446: Primal Monitor
"Origin, you can't let them out!"
Suddenly, a divine voice rang out from beyond the Wall of Origin.
The sound carried a distinct mechanical tone—dry and cold. It surged against the Wall of Origin like a tidal wave, sending a pounding tremor through the heart.
The gods on the Wall of Origin were briefly stunned, then erupted in fury.
"Who's speaking?"
"Who dares obstruct my lord?"
"Who's spreading nonsense?"
"Come out! If you have the guts, come out! If my lord lets me off this Wall, I'll defend his will with my life! I'll fight you to the death!"
"That's right!"
"Exactly!"
"Count me in!"
Some of the ancient gods recognized the voice and sneered, "That stray dog kicked out of the God Realm dares bark here?"
"Monitor. Useless!"
"Foul demon. Still dares to show itself?"
"Hahaha… Origin, the Wall of Origin was built to guard against a bastard like the Primal Monitor."
The Primal Monitor.
Before the current era existed, before the God Realm came to be, the gods had already appeared.
Aside from God and the Beast, he was nearly the most powerful of the Only Gods.
At that time, before Bardi became Origin, the only one capable of killing an Only God was the Primal Monitor.
The Primal Monitor could be considered an Only God—exceptional and utterly unique.
More mysterious and distinct than Morpheus, the Lord of Nightmares.
Bardi glanced at a few ancient gods, who clearly knew a great deal about the Primal Monitor.
But Bardi didn't bother to ask.
Because their knowledge was shallow.
As Origin, everything Origin had done—constructing the Wall of Origin, imprisoning his family, friends, siblings upon it—was seen as a monstrous betrayal, and they hated him bitterly for it.
Yet Bardi, having inherited Origin's memories, understood that it had all been done to protect them. He was forced to make that choice.
None of his relatives ever understood the Origin.
Of course, Origin never intended for them to understand.
There was no mention of danger in his memories. He did it solely to protect them.
Now, with the Primal Monitor's arrival, Bardi judged that his power had grown enough to become aware of the unknown threats. That was why the Monitor had come.
The gods, now knowing it was the Primal Monitor, exploded with curses, dragging in his ancestors, descendants, family and friends, swearing thousands of times over.
This guy was clearly cheating.
They had been stuck to the Wall of Origin for countless centuries, only just beginning to hope for release. And now this guy shows up to stop them?
If they didn't curse him, who else would they curse?
Still, a few ancient gods who had been friends or relatives of the Primal Monitor scolded those who insulted him in return. The Wall of Origin buzzed with filthy language.
Bardi cast a glance across the gods. Their eyes burned with hostility. But as soon as they saw Bardi's displeasure, they fell silent.
The Wall of Origin fell still and quiet.
Ignoring them, Bardi focused on the Primal Monitor, who was 'knocking' on the outside.
Controlling the Wall of Origin, Bardi opened a space-time portal. With a thought, a universe unfolded within the Wall itself, and he invited the Primal Monitor in to speak face to face.
The Primal Monitor had once aided him while he was devouring Origin. Bardi held a favorable impression of him.
But if he came now to stop Bardi from attacking Heaven, then there would be no compromise.
In a blink, Bardi vanished before the gods and entered the inner universe within the Wall of Origin.
The Primal Monitor entered the universe through the space-time portal Bardi had opened.
His appearance was blue, like steel alloy, resembling a robot from a 1970s American TV show—simple, smooth metal, slightly rusted. Nothing about him resembled a god.
A god's appearance is often meaningful.
It's usually a reflection of their heart.
One can often infer something about a god's nature from their appearance.
But… this Primal Monitor… brother, you look a little fishy.
In the starry inner cosmos of Origin, Bardi faced the Primal Monitor directly.
He spoke first. "Monitor, I'm grateful for what you did before. But that's no reason for you to stop me."
"Origin. In your memories, you must have seen his instructions. The Wall of Origin must not fall," the Primal Monitor said solemnly.
"So, you're here to stop me?"
As soon as Bardi finished speaking, hostility spread across his face. With a single thought, the universe began to ripple with tidal force. The fundamental forces of the grand unity began to compress.
He was ready for a fight.
"No. I'm not."
The Primal Monitor shook his head, the mechanical motion rigid.
"I only came to tell you—whether it's me, Origin, or God and the Beast—our ultimate goal lies within the domain of the Guardian God."
The Primal Monitor spoke bluntly, even naming God and the Beast outright without consequence.
Bardi's gaze deepened. He instantly realized—he was different from the Only Gods of the God Realm. At least, when thinking of God and the Beast, nothing strange occurred.
"The God Realm is not safe."
"Outside the Wall of Origin is the Omniverse."
"There are three full-tier gods of hellish power, all watching the God Realm like predators."
"The Wall of Origin is the only barrier that keeps them out."
"The gods glued to the Wall are essentially living batteries."
"Even knowing this, will you still release them for revenge against Heaven?"
The Monitor's voice turned harsh and cold.
Origins are chosen by their predecessors.
Bardi had been selected. Back when he lived on Krypton, the gaze of the former Origin fell upon his soul.
Between him and Clark, the Origin made a decision—whoever had greater potential would inherit the role.
Bardi never stopped pursuing power, always striving to become the strongest.
Even the most powerful version of Superman, the Golden Superman, never reached the level of an Only God.
That Bardi could become one proved his qualifications.
From the highest plane, the previous Origin ultimately chose Bardi.
He passed everything down to him.
Thus, no matter what Bardi chose to do, the Monitor would respect the decision of the former Origin and not interfere.
Whether it leads to destruction or rebirth, life or death, it is not his place to stop it.
There may yet be new life and new creation.
"I've made up my mind," Bardi said firmly.
He couldn't protect Barmulodi.
He couldn't protect his subordinates.
He couldn't even protect his wife.
And now, he was expected to protect the God Realm?
It was meaningless.
If the Star of Barmulodi still existed, if his wife were still alive, Bardi was certain he'd do everything to protect this place.
But now, he had nothing.
If Heaven wasn't reduced to rubble, if the bastards in the God Realm weren't destroyed, then everything he lost would remain lost.
The God Realm had existed too long.
It had grown rotten.
Rotten to the point that a newborn god like Heaven could threaten everything he once held dear.
So be it.
Let it be rebuilt from ruins.
"Very well."
"I'll give you one last warning. The Wall of Origin and the God Realm are intertwined. The moment the Wall falls, the collapse of the God Realm will begin."
The Primal Monitor's tone was grave.
"And, as a favor for the help I gave you, I want one deity from the Wall of Origin."
"Perpetua."
(To be continued.)
