Chapter 158: Chapter 158 The Battle Has Only Just Begun!
"These aren't just a few cars," Batman said calmly to Lennox and his team. "Friendly reminder—stand back, unless you want to get caught in the crossfire."
"Crossfire?"
Lennox hadn't fully processed the warning before Epps and the others quickly moved to retreat.
"Huh?"
Lennox stared blankly at Epps, astonished by how fast the man had reacted.
"Lennox, didn't you hear Batman tell you to move back?"
Epps shouted.
Lennox flinched and silently moved to stand beside him.
"Your call, hero!"
Epps said to Batman with an eager look.
"Epps, if I remember correctly, you told me you preferred Cyborg before," Lennox muttered through gritted teeth.
"That was before Cyborg saved us!" Epps replied.
"Cyborg saved you. Why don't you like him anymore?"
Lennox was genuinely puzzled.
"He didn't even look back at me!"
Epps said matter-of-factly. "Batman, on the other hand, seems more approachable."
"Approachable?"
Lennox glanced at Batman and couldn't see how anyone could think that.
As a seasoned special forces captain, Lennox had faced many terrifying enemies during covert operations.
But he always emerged victorious—until now.
Staring at Batman, Lennox felt a strange, chilling sensation.
If Batman were his opponent, Lennox doubted he'd survive the next second.
That inexplicable, unnerving feeling was beyond words but utterly bone-chilling.
Boom!
The sudden transformation of the vehicles before him yanked Lennox out of his chaotic thoughts.
The cars morphed instantly into towering robots.
Lennox understanding of vehicles was shattered.
The largest of them was a red robot transformed from a Western Star truck.
The others, though varied in size, were all massive compared to humans. They exuded an air of majesty and power.
"What the hell are these things?"
Lennox was utterly stunned.
The sight before him was far more shocking than the mechanical scorpion he had encountered earlier.
He even began questioning whether he was still on Earth.
"NBE! So NBEs really exist!"
Lennox gaze shifted to the frozen NBE-ONE, and he quickly realized what was happening.
This was an alien war.
Earth was an innocent battleground.
Humanity? Merely collateral damage.
Suddenly, his eyes narrowed.
Something terrifying was unfolding.
The ice encasing NBE-ONE began to melt.
This was caused by Starscream and the other Decepticons, who had severed the base power systems—including cables, internet connections, and more—leaving the facility barely operational.
Only a few emergency backup lights provided dim illumination, barely holding the darkness at bay.
The real issue was not just the chaos, but the looming threat.
The machines keeping NBE-ONE icy prison intact had shut down due to a lack of sufficient power supply.
The result was clear: NBE-ONE, or Megatron, was on the verge of waking up.
This wasn't about whether Starscream and the other Decepticons wanted to release Megatron or not.
With the ice melting, Megatron recovery was inevitable—his consciousness would return on its own.
"This is bad!"
Optimus Prime noticed the melting ice as well.
It meant only one thing: Megatron long slumber was coming to an end.
For over two thousand years, Megatron had been in a state of forced dormancy.
Though his body had been frozen, his mind might not have been entirely unaware of the outside world. Most of the time, he was trapped in his inner consciousness—like a paralyzed being, fully sentient but unable to act.
The moment he awakened, Megatron would undoubtedly erupt into a storm of rage and violence.
Optimus Prime understood there was no stopping the inevitable.
He turned to Batman, his voice resolute:
"Go retrieve the AllSpark. Leave this place to us."
His words were calm yet unwavering.
"I promise, no Decepticon will interrupt your mission until you have the AllSpark in your hands."
Optimus resolve was met with a chilling response from the center of the base.
Megatron, now fully conscious, let out a thunderous roar as he shattered the remnants of his icy restraints.
"I AM MEGATRON!"
Crack!
With glowing red eyes, Megatron moved his massive frame, the remaining shards of ice on his joints breaking apart and falling to the ground.
Years ago, Megatron had crashed into the Arctic. The sudden and overwhelming gravitational force disrupted his sensors, causing him to lose consciousness and plummet into the ice. He never regained control of his body before being frozen solid.
Discovered in the early 20th century by Captain Witwicky, Megatron frozen body had been painstakingly transported to the United States.
For decades, humans dared not melt the ice encasing him.
On one hand, he was feared as a sealed demon.
On the other, scientists driven by the pursuit of truth saw him as a technological goldmine, the harbinger of modern advancements.
To many, Megatron was the beacon of contemporary progress, yet also the specter of unimaginable destruction.
Their theories were correct: the ice was key to keeping Megatron dormant.
But with the ice now melted, Megatron reclaimed full control of his body.
His crimson eyes turned, locking onto Optimus Prime.
A deep, sinister laugh echoed from his frame.
"Old friend, seeing you the moment I wake up makes my circuits buzz with excitement."
Megatron voice, like Optimus, was deep and commanding.
Yet it carried an unmistakable malevolence, a hint of chaos and anarchy that set him apart from his counterpart.
"Megatron, you've finally awakened!"
Starscream wasted no time stepping forward.
He knelt on one knee, a display of absolute loyalty, and added his trademark phrase:
"I live to serve you!"
"As do I. Welcome back. The Decepticons await your command,"
Brawl echoed, kneeling beside Starscream.
The pair formed a synchronized bootlicker duo.
Megatron gaze swept over the two, then shifted to Blackout, who had arrived late.
Blackout savage, metallic face twisted into an expression of disbelief.
I was here first!
And now these two are acting like they've always been loyal?
"Blackout," Megatron voice rumbled, turning his attention to the visibly flustered Decepticon.
Megatron was no fool.
He knew precisely who among the three Decepticons before him was the most loyal to him.
"Prepare for battle."
"Understood."
Hearing Megatron call his name, Blackout let go of any resentment over earlier events and immediately shifted into combat mode.
In the base, the two factions faced off.
Autobot lineup: Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Jazz, and Ratchet.
Decepticon lineup: Megatron, Starscream, Brawl, Blackout, and Scorponok.
The numbers were evenly matched, with each Autobot paired against a corresponding Decepticon.
"I can sense the AllSpark energy."
Megatron muttered to himself, his gaze locking onto his old adversary.
"Optimus Prime, are you ready to face defeat?"
Megatron clenched his fists, his voice rumbling like a storm:
"Cybertron can only be rebuilt under my rule. This planet, this universe—it will all bow to Megatron!"
"I will never let your vision become reality."
Optimus voice was cold, unyielding.
Swish!
Optimus right arm extended, revealing a massive energy blade.
This act was like a signal flare, igniting the already tense atmosphere in the base.
Bumblebee, Ironhide, Jazz, and Ratchet all leaped into action, each engaging their designated opponent.
"Autobots, roll out!"
Meanwhile…
Anton (Batman) didn't concern himself with the chaos erupting behind him.
Even with Megatron awakened, Anton had already accounted for this possibility and was utterly unshaken.
Chaos breeds opportunity.
The more tangled and murky the situation became, the better it played into Anton hands.
With Megatron revival throwing the entire battlefield into turmoil, Anton now had the perfect excuse to slip deeper into the Sector Seven facility. His destination:
The AllSpark.
According to Optimus Prime, only the leaders of the two factions could destroy the AllSpark—at the cost of their own lives.
"It just ahead."
Lennox led the way.
As they navigated the facility, Lennox couldn't resist asking Batman for clarification. He quickly grasped the essence of the conflict:
The alien robotic life forms were from Cybertron, split into two factions: Autobots and Decepticons. The Decepticons sought to use the AllSpark to transform Earth into their dominion and conquer the universe. The Autobots aimed to stop them and were humanity allies.
It all made sense.
But then Lennox and his team learned a startling truth from Batman:
There was a straightforward solution to the entire crisis:
Insert the AllSpark into Megatron heart.
"How are we supposed to shove this thing into Megatron chest?"
Epps stared in disbelief at the enormous cube before them, at least three stories high, covered in mysterious glyphs and markings.
"You're saying we need to cram this thing into Megatron chest?"
Epps couldn't help but complain:
"This thing looks big enough to stuff Megatron inside it."
"What you're seeing is just a projection."
Batman calm voice cut through the tension.
"In reality, the AllSpark is no larger than a basketball to us."
"A basketball?"
Epps looked skeptical.
"If it really the size of a basketball, I'll eat it right here and now."
"Then get ready for a lifetime of indigestion."
Cyborg quipped before floating to the AllSpark.
He placed his hands on its surface.
Clank, clank!
Suddenly, a translucent blue energy ripple surged across the underground chamber, merging with the glyphs etched on the surface of the AllSpark.
In an instant, the massive cube began to disassemble into countless smaller blocks, reconfiguring and reshaping until it condensed into a smaller form, just as Cyborg had described—about the size of a basketball.
"What the—!"
Lennox and the others were stunned.
All eyes turned to Epps, whose jaw had practically hit the floor.
"Epps," one soldier teased, "so where are you planning to start eating? I'd recommend upgrading to steel teeth first!"
"Enough!"
Anton (Batman) cut through the banter, turning to face the soldiers.
"We need to help the Autobots defeat the Decepticons. You all need to evacuate immediately."
"No."
Lennox refused outright, his tone firm.
"I'm coming with you."
"Lennox!"
"Captain!"
Epps and the others were taken aback.
"Don't try to stop me," Lennox said resolutely.
"You don't have to come with me, but I've made up my mind. I need to see these aliens pay for what they've done—myself."
"Lennox!"
Epps, now silent, stepped forward and embraced him tightly.
Their team history was vivid in their minds.
They hadn't forgotten Figueroa—"Fig"—their injured comrade. After surviving an assault by Scorponok in the deserts of Qatar, Fig was recovering from severe injuries, temporarily stable but still clinging to life.
"If you want to see the Decepticons pay, then you better move fast."
Anton interrupted.
"Otherwise, you'll only be staring at their corpses by the time you get there."
With that, he began walking toward the battlefield.
"On it."
Lennox nodded, determination hardening his gaze as he followed close behind.
Back at the Main Battlefield
The fighting was in full swing.
The chaos had split into two primary fronts:
Optimus Prime vs. Megatron.
A one-on-one clash of titans, where no one else could intervene. The others: Autobots and Decepticons exchanged opponents relentlessly in a chaotic dance of destruction. Sparks flew, debris scattered, and neither side held back.
The most pitiable combatants were undoubtedly Scorponok and Ratchet.
Both ill-suited for direct combat, they resembled a pair of amateurs pecking at each other.
Their skirmish frequently resulted in one or the other being swapped out and subjected to brutal punishment by a new opponent.
The Game-Changer
When Anton, Cyborg, and Lennox arrived with the AllSpark in hand, the fighting momentarily ceased.
All eyes—Autobot and Decepticon alike—turned to them.
"The AllSpark!"
Megatron crimson gaze locked onto the small, glowing cube in Anton hands.
"Hand it over, human," Megatron growled.
Anton response was calm, yet filled with an unyielding edge:
"You're delusional if you think that going to happen."
Anton remained expressionless as he turned to Optimus Prime.
"Optimus, take him down. Cyborg will assist you."
Optimus didn't hesitate.
Cyborg, with a nod, took the AllSpark from Anton and ascended into the air, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Optimus.
"The AllSpark… You're actually planning to destroy it?"
Megatron immediately realized what Optimus was about to do. His expression twisted with disbelief, then erupted into unrestrained fury.
"Optimus Prime! Do you even understand what you're contemplating?"
His voice was filled with wrath.
"You intend to destroy the sacred artifact of the Transformers? The very spark of hope that could rebuild Cybertron?"
If mechanical lifeforms could spit venom, Megatron tirade would have drenched Optimus in a pool deep enough for laps.
To Megatron, Optimus was betraying the hopes of their species, abandoning the responsibility placed upon him by Cybertron itself—all for the sake of mere humans.
But to Optimus Prime, victory without justice held no meaning.
This philosophical rift was the core of their irreconcilable conflict.
"What should we do next?"
Lennox, observing the tense standoff between the leaders of the two alien factions, leaned over to Batman and whispered.
"You?"
Anton shrugged.
"Stand back and enjoy the show."
"And what about you?"
Lennox pressed further, curiosity in his tone.
"Me?"
Anton gaze shifted to the towering Transformers before him, pausing on Megatron before focusing on Starscream, Brawl, and Blackout.
After a moment of thought, he smirked.
"I'm going to join the fight."
With that, Anton snapped his fingers.
Snap!
From the shadows, a sleek black car roared into view.
Its low, menacing chassis, reinforced frame, oversized tires, and weapon-laden attachments immediately caught Lennox attention.
"That… That the Batmobile!"
Lennox suddenly realized he was seeing the legendary vehicle he'd only heard about in the news.
It wasn't just a car it was a war machine.
"Lennox, you might want to take a few steps back," Anton said as he climbed into the Batmobile, sealing the cockpit.
"After all…"
As the cockpit locked into place, Anton voice reverberated from inside.
"The real battle has only just begun."
