Chapter 157: Chapter 157 Is This a Time to Joke?
While Optimus Prime was astonished that the Justice League possessed such advanced technology as interstellar teleportation, the Decepticons on Earth had already silently begun their operation.
Starscream, Brawl, and Blackout headed for the Hoover Dam.
They moved very fast, taking only about ten minutes to get from their original military base to near the Hoover Dam.
There were many tourists here, with vehicles coming and going, parked along the roadside.
But no one knew that inside the Hoover Dam, there was a secret base belonging to Sector 7.
If it hadn't been for Starscream infiltrating the military base and connecting to the military computer network, plus Blackout attack on the Qatar base that copied all the data from the military computers, he wouldn't have been able to pinpoint the location of the Sector 7 base so quickly.
Staring at the side of the mountain next to the Hoover Dam.
"The Allspark is inside."
Starscream descended from the sky, transforming into robot form.
He looked at his companions.
"It time to move, Decepticons!"
At the Hoover Dam, Tom Bannercheck, the head of Sector 7, had just come out of the White House.
However, Tom didn't rush to leave but instead stood waiting outside the White House.
A moment later.
Kler came out from inside, looking grave, clearly in a bad mood.
"Mr. Kler."
Tom greeted him and approached, "What did the president say?"
"Tom, you didn't tell me the truth."
Kler face was grim as he stared at Tom and huffed, "I don't like being kept in the dark, especially when we are supposed to be on the same side."
"I knew it!"
Tom immediately understood what had happened and said helplessly, "The research on the Allspark is Sector 7 biggest secret, even more important than NBE-ONE. In any case, fewer people know about this than you might think."
"You guys are so confident that you can build a mech army?"
Kler stared at Tom.
"No."
Tom shook his head, "That was before we met Batman and the Transformers."
"What do you mean? What are you trying to say?"
Kler frowned.
"Back in the last century, we found the Allspark and have been researching it for decades, from knowing nothing at first to barely being able to use it, especially in the last few years as the technology revolution has exploded."
Tom spoke solemnly, "In fact, just when we thought we could harness the power of the Allspark and were ready to make a move, aliens started appearing one after another... Their knowledge of the Allspark is far beyond ours! Even Batman can easily name and explain the Allspark... It makes me afraid that we have underestimated the Allspark!"
"Fear? The president doesn't think so, I saw ambition in his eyes."
Kler sarcastically, "If it weren't for you painting such a rosy future for him, I don't think he would have been so determined today."
"Talking about this now is useless, I need to rush back to the base at Hoover Dam immediately, are you coming with me?"
"Of course!"
The two of them got into the car together.
But just a few minutes later, they returned to the White House with anxious expressions, knocking on the president office door once again.
"What, you guys again?"
The president looked at Tom and Kler, his expression somewhat surprised.
"Something happened!"
Tom gritted his teeth: "Mr. President, the Hoover Dam base of Sector 7 has been attacked by unidentified persons."
"It not unidentified persons, it the Transformers! No, I should say, it the Decepticons!"
Kler added: "We need to immediately assemble the military and head to the Hoover Dam. We can't let that group of Decepticons breach the base!"
"Shit!"
The president was shocked.
As the Decepticons attacked the Hoover Dam base, the president inside the White House hurriedly contacted the military to inform them of the situation and issued orders to assemble and strike.
Suddenly, all the military bases near the Hoover Dam sprang into action.
The atmosphere instantly felt like a powder keg, with the air filled with the smell of gunpowder.
White House.
Kler and Tom faced each other.
"Do we need to notify Batman?"
Tom hesitated.
"No need."
Now it was Kler turn to be resigned. He said:
"The Military Committee believes we can handle this trouble. Also, although it wasn't explicitly stated, they believe that Batman task is mainly to keep the other faction of Transformers, the Autobots, from interfering in our battle—clearly, Batman has already done so."
"Alright."
Universe, a certain galaxy, war fortress.
Anton was not particularly concerned about what was happening on Earth at the moment.
However, that didn't mean he was uninformed.
Wasn't maintaining a Cyborg avatar exactly for monitoring the situation?
Honestly, through Cyborg perspective, hearing from Kler and others that the Decepticons had already locked onto the location of the Hoover Dam and had commenced their attack...
Anton was quite surprised.
Cyborg switched views, found the Hoover Dam, and discovered that the network near Sector 7 had been cut off, immediately sensing that the situation was unfolding much faster than he had anticipated.
Moreover.
The online discussion of the Military Committee also did not escape Cyborg monitoring.
"There no need to notify Batman, let him hold off the Autobots! Our military will clear up all the trouble for us."
Unsurprisingly, this statement was entirely within Anton expectations.
The military wouldn't rely on superheroes for everything; Kler recruitment into the Justice League was likely more a strategic consideration than tactical.
"Batman, what are you thinking?"
Optimus Prime noticed something off about Batman and spoke out, bringing Anton back to reality.
"Nothing."
Anton looked up at Optimus Prime: "I thought it would take at least another half a day, but the Decepticons are smarter than I expected."
"Oh?"
Optimus Prime quickly understood.
"Optimus Prime, gather the Autobots, it time for us to take action!"
After Anton finished, he looked at Cyborg.
"The coordinates for Hoover Dam are locked."
Cyborg, expressionless, told Optimus Prime: "Give me the coordinates of the other Autobots, and I'll bring them all to Hoover Dam."
Inside the White House.
Whether it was the president, Tom, or Kler, they all maintained a certain confidence and hadn't fallen into utter despair.
After the alien attack in New York, coupled with the prior preparations for "welcoming" aliens, the Sector 7 base inside the Hoover Dam was staffed with battle-hardened special operations squads and robust firepower, which should hold until military reinforcements arrived.
The members of the special operations squad included Lennox, who survived the attack on the Qatar military base, and his subordinate Epps, among others.
This is the main reason why the president and the Military Committee were confident about the military operation against the aliens.
However, they clearly lacked a clear understanding of the enemy.
Including Kler and Tom.
These two had only seen footage of Cyborg beating the Decepticons, but hadn't truly realized how formidable the cruel and brutal Decepticons from Cybertron really were.
Half an hour later.
No matter how they called, everyone inside the White House received no further updates from Sector 7.
About half an hour after that.
Sizzle! The communication was restored.
"How is it?"
Tom was impatient: "How are things going? Are you all okay?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end.
"Sorry."
The voice on the phone carried a hint of shock and inexplicable sadness: "We were too late! The Hoover Dam, Sector 7 base has turned into ruins... It seems to be a total annihilation."
Total annihilation?
Tom and Kler looked at each other, their eyes filled with immense shock and confusion.
Is it really a total annihilation?
"What's left in the base? Did you see a huge robot frozen in ice, or a huge cube?"
Beside him, Kler asked again with a grave expression.
"Nothing, nothing at all."
The man on the phone answered: "Just ruins, and occasionally you can see severed limbs. The entire Sector 7 has been buried, there nothing we can do to change that."
"Are there any traces of the enemy?"
"No, just a few minutes before we arrived here, we heard a huge explosion in the distance. Now that I think about it, maybe at that time, Sector 7 had already been destroyed by some kind of weapon."
"What exactly happened?"
Tom and Kler looked at each other, both completely bewildered.
What exactly happened?
Rewinding thirty minutes earlier.
The remaining three members of the Decepticons, Starscream, Brawl, and Blackout, along with a mechanical pet, the Scorpion Monster, arrived at the Hoover Dam.
They made no attempt to hide their identities.
The arrival of the huge robots caused panic among all the tourists at the Hoover Dam, even terror.
They took photos, trying to upload them to the internet, but found no signal available.
Why is that?
That was because Starscream casually destroyed the signal tower of the Hoover Dam, shutting down nearby signals and wireless networks to avoid attracting online attention.
Although the Transformers didn't regard humans highly, too many ants can still be troublesome.
Moreover, the loss of contact with Barricade, Frenzy, and Bonecrusher made Starscream feel that Earth was not as simple as they had previously thought.
Following that, they sent the Scorpion Monster first into the entrance of Sector 7.
With no interest in the tourists on the dam, Starscream, Brawl, and Blackout, the three of them walked into the interior of Sector 7.
The dam's internal corridors could definitely accommodate Transformers in their robot form.
Otherwise, they couldn't have brought Megatron in.
However, due to the narrowness of the corridors, the Transformers could only pass through one at a time.
This gave the humans a chance to counterattack.
Upon realizing the presence of intruders, Sector 7 immediately assembled a team, bulky soldiers standing in the large corridor, planning to stop the enemy.
However, they unexpectedly found themselves facing not a Transformer, but a mechanical scorpion.
"It him again!"
Lennox gritted his teeth: "Epps, last time we only knocked off its tail, this time we need to kill it, not just to buy time for the people in the base to escape, but also to avenge our fallen brothers!"
"Don't worry, boss!"
Epps and his companions laughed heartily.
They knew Lennox was just boasting, but at this moment, they truly had no way out.
Scorpion Monster!
This creature's size was about the same as a regular car, but its threat level was no less than that of a tank or an armored vehicle, perhaps even stronger.
The Scorpion Monster roared as it charged into the tunnel, its silver body reflecting the cold light.
The soldiers pulled the triggers.
Ordinary firearms simply couldn't penetrate the Scorpion Monster's shell, unable to inflict any damage on it.
"Watch out!"
Lennox exclaimed in alarm.
The center of the Scorpion Monster giant pincer, surprisingly, concealed a massive cannon. Terrifying energy fluctuations gathered and then blasted out, landing at the soldiers' feet.
Boom!
A group of soldiers were knocked down.
The remaining ones exchanged glances, and Lennox asked.
"Where the escape route?"
"The escape route has been activated, researchers are evacuating!"
"What does the Pentagon say, those damn politicians, haven't they decided to send military support yet?"
"No signal, can't communicate! The base internal wired network has been cut!"
Lennox exchanged a few words while attacking and keeping an eye on the time.
However.
Boom!
Another huge roar came.
They saw three robots as large as NBE-ONE entering the underground base of Sector 7, suddenly realizing.
They are NBEs, non-biological extraterrestrials!
These are NBE-ONE kin!
The three giant robots arrived at the underground base, their gaze not even considering the soldiers behind the cover, but locked on the center of the base, the towering, ice-encased NBE-ONE.
"Is Megatron still in slumber?"
Starscream eyes flickered: "I see."
"We should release him."
Blackout was invigorated, a loyal protector of Megatron.
Just as he was about to step forward, Starscream slapped him to the ground.
"Do you want to fight?"
Sparks flew from the ground as Blackout rose to his feet, glaring at Starscream.
"Blackout, you cannot release Megatron!"
Starscream roared softly: "Now in the Decepticons, I call the shots! As long as we can get the Allspark, it doesn't matter whether we have Megatron or not, the Decepticons will dominate the universe. When we dominate the universe, then we can release Megatron, and I believe he will be willing to serve me."
"Blackout, listen to him."
Brawl sneered, not saying much more, since the situation was clear, and anything was possible.
In fact, he didn't mind who was the leader.
After all, compared to the ferocious Megatron, Starscream was much easier to manipulate.
Blackout eyes flashed, not planning to turn against Starscream now, deciding to wait until after obtaining the Allspark.
However.
He needed to vent his frustration.
He targeted the few human soldiers behind the cover.
Lennox gritted his teeth, shouting loudly: "Get out of the way! All of you, move!"
Boom!
But Lennox and the others hadn't had time to move when they were faced with a terrifying energy cannonball released by Blackout.
Before the cannonball even struck, they instantly felt their body hair stand on end and their scalps tingle.
The energy cannonball moved extremely fast.
The soldiers' pupils dilated, seeing the blue light in their field of vision coming closer and closer, arriving in front of them in less than a blink of an eye.
Of course, this blink, in their perception, felt infinitely long, as if they had experienced a whole cycle of reincarnation.
Bang!!
A massive shockwave exploded right in front of them.
They felt a powerful gust of wind brush against their faces.
This was the breath of life.
Turning their heads, they saw a silver figure standing in front of them.
The silver figure had an invisible barrier on its chest, which blocked the attack of the energy cannonball, and under the counterforce, the fierce wind wreaked havoc.
The soldiers recognized who it was, ecstatic.
Cyborg!
"Step back."
Suddenly, another voice sounded in their ears.
A tall man with a flowing cape, emerging from the dark corner behind them, with two pointed ears clearly visible on his head.
Batman!
In this era where superheroes are prevalent.
Even these battle-hardened soldiers were familiar with superheroes who shone like mega-stars.
Especially the very prominent Batman, and Cyborg, whose fame was only second to Batman.
"How did you guys get here?"
The leading soldier was greatly encouraged.
"Not just us!"
Batman responded calmly: "The enemy of our enemy has also arrived!"
The enemy of the enemy?
That means a friend!
Lennox was initially startled, then just as he was reacting, he saw a stream of cars racing towards them from the corridor outside.
Hiss hiss hiss!
These cars left tire marks on the ground, stopping one by one inside the base, surrounding the three giant robots, almost filling the space which, to the Transformers, seemed hardly spacious at all.
"Huh?"
Lennox saw a bunch of cars entering the base, initially thinking they were reinforcements, and was overjoyed. However, upon seeing that all the driver seats were empty, he was immediately baffled.
What going on?
His gaze swept over the leading Western Star truck, then looked behind to the accompanying Camaro, Pontiac, Hummer H2, and the black GMC
"The enemy of our enemy… are just a few cars?"
"What on earth is this?"
Lennox was dumbfounded.
If it weren't for the urgency of the situation, and the fact that it was Batman who spoke to him, he would have been tempted to slap someone.
Is this a time to joke?
