Chapter 159: Chapter 159 The Death of Megatron!
The final battle has just begun?
What does that mean?
Lennox felt his scalp tingle when he heard those words.
Boom!
In front of him, several Transformers were locked in fierce combat, combining close-quarters combat with the relentless firing of advanced energy weapons.
With every collision, waves of turbulent air surged like a storm, accompanied by the continuous eruption of sparks that spread across the space inside the base.
Lennox could almost smell the scorching, burnt scent lingering in the air.
Buzz, buzz!
Ahead, the Batmobile driven by Batman roared forward. The frame of the vehicle shifted and transformed, revealing terrifying weapons. The sight of the thick, menacing barrels was enough to send chills down anyone spine.
Yet, this transformation was met with utter disdain by the Transformers.
Even the weakest Decepticon, Scorponok, dismissed it with scorn.
But Scorponok soon paid for his arrogance.
Boom!
Once the Batmobile entered combat mode, it was powerful enough to suppress all of Gotham villains.
Anyone who underestimated it was bound to suffer.
Equipped with Gatling guns, armor-piercing shells, homing missiles, and even Batman signature grappling gun, the Batmobile unleashed devastating firepower.
Scorponok bore the brunt of it, his head struck by two homing missiles.
Crack, crack!
Scorponok head was half-blown apart in an instant.
Still, his tenacious vitality kept him from collapsing. Severely injured, he raised his giant pincers, gathering energy to launch a counterattack.
Anton didn't give him the chance.
An armor-piercing shell detonated beneath Scorponok feet, blasting him into pieces.
Moments earlier, the Autobot Ratchet had been locked in battle with Scorponok. Now, seeing this scene, he froze in astonishment.
So strong?
What kind of vehicle is that?
Ratchet was stunned.
Anton, however, paid no attention to Ratchet. Seeing Scorponok gravely wounded and shattered into several pieces, his glowing red eyes flickering like faulty circuits, Anton knew the Decepticon wouldn't last much longer. He turned his gaze toward Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Jazz in the distance.
The three Autobots were locked in combat with Starscream, Rumble, and Blitzwing.
In this confined space—narrow by Transformer standards—the combatants had little room to execute their full range of moves. The battles were brutal and unforgiving.
Sparks flew everywhere. The metallic armor and exoskeletons of both sides were covered in massive gashes.
Though the fighting was fierce and evenly matched, neither side could gain the upper hand.
This was no surprise.
The Decepticons and Autobots had been engaged in battle for countless years—thousands, even tens of thousands of years.
Their prolonged warfare had seen them clash on Cybertron an innumerable number of times, always with the same familiar faces.
Even battles of this scale were nothing new.
After so many years, if a clear victor could have emerged, it would have happened already. Their inability to settle the conflict was why Cybertron resources were completely depleted, driving them to Earth to continue their age-old feud.
This time, however, there was a difference.
The Autobots' ranks included two unexpected additions—or rather, one person.
Batman and Cyborg.
Together, they were known simply as Anton.
Sizzle!
The Batmobile fired another volley of homing missiles, striking Starscream, Rumble, and Blitzwing, forcing them to retreat several steps.
Seeing this, the Autobots regrouped behind the Batmobile, forming a battle-ready line.
The Decepticons, disheveled from the missile barrage, turned to face the fierce-looking Autobots, their long-suppressed rage bubbling to the surface.
The clash resumed.
Anton, meanwhile, maneuvered the Batmobile behind the Autobots, stealthily taking potshots at the Decepticons.
In direct combat, the Batmobile mobility and firepower weren't sufficient to overwhelm Transformers. Even the capabilities granted by the Arkham Knight armor weren't enough to allow Anton to take on a Transformer head-on. His strategy of picking off weaker foes, like nearly destroying Scorponok, was already an achievement.
Thus, avoiding direct confrontation was the most effective way for him to contribute to the fight.
After all, the other "Anton" was fully engaged in a heated battle with Megatron, so there was no issue with insufficient firepower on their side.
"Human, who are you?"
Megatron, newly awakened, was puzzled by Cyborg unfamiliar appearance.
The advanced, almost elegant technology integrated into Cyborg body made Megatron deeply suspicious of his claim to be human.
"Victor Stone. You can call me Cyborg," Cyborg replied expressionlessly.
Raising his arm, he unleashed a sonic cannon blast, forcing Megatron back, and smirked coldly. "Don't doubt it—I am human. Just a bit different from the humans you remember."
"Though most humans may seem weak to you, remember this: humanity… will never lack for strength!"
As he spoke, Cyborg body erupted with powerful jets of energy, propelling him straight at Megatron.
In his hand, he held the AllSpark, its energy field magnetically locked to his palm.
The intent was clear—he aimed for Megatron heart.
At the same time, Optimus Prime engaged Megatron, creating an opening for Cyborg to strike.
The Autobot leader swung his arm, wielding his broad sword with such force that the very air seemed to crack and ripple.
Due to the cramped space, the sword scraped against the mountain wall, sending a shower of brilliant sparks flying.
The impact left a deep fissure in the rocky surface.
Ssshhh!
Megatron felt an unprecedented sense of danger.
Caught between Cyborg AllSpark attack and Optimus Prime relentless assault, he was trapped in a dire situation.
Ultimately, he chose to evade Cyborg strike, and in the rush, took a direct hit from Optimus Prime sword.
Clang!
The sound of metal clashing reverberated like a tolling bell, echoing through the confined underground base. The noise reverberated back and forth, drawing everyone attention.
All eyes turned toward the source of the sound.
Megatron was half-kneeling on the ground, clearly under immense pressure. The circular depression in the floor where he knelt made that evident.
Crucially, the metallic shield that Megatron arm had transformed into blocked Optimus Prime sword, sparing him from critical damage.
At the same time, the collision between the sword and shield generated a powerful shockwave, radiating outward in all directions.
The visible air ripples carried with them clouds of dust and debris, shrouding the battlefield.
Whoosh!
When Cyborg initial strike failed, he immediately launched another eagle-like charge, his presence terrifyingly imposing.
In his other hand, the AllSpark emitted a brilliant blue glow as he moved.
To the Transformers, this light was akin to a divine miracle.
But to Megatron in this moment, it was the specter of death itself, wielding a scythe and drawing near. This was no mere "danger" but an imminent catastrophe.
Megatron gritted his teeth, his expression resolute.
With Optimus Prime tying him down, he was unable to effectively counter Cyborg assault and could only defend passively.
The AllSpark, in particular, posed an unparalleled threat to him.
The AllSpark could completely annihilate him.
Here, "completely" meant that if the AllSpark killed him, it would also be destroyed in the process, denying him any chance of resurrection.
In short, the threat Cyborg posed to Megatron now far exceeded anything Optimus Prime had ever presented.
Of course, Megatron hatred for Optimus Prime at this moment also surpassed any previous point in their history.
Because this time, Optimus wasn't just trying to kill Megatron—he was aiming to destroy the sacred relic of the Transformers.
To Megatron, this was an absolutely unacceptable reality.
"Optimus Prime, do you even realize what you're doing?"
Megatron grew angrier the more he thought about it.
Enraged, he ignored Cyborg attack and insisted on a life-or-death showdown with Optimus Prime.
"You're willing to forsake Cybertron hope for the sake of those ant-like humans!"
Megatron clenched his fists.
"This time, it just you and me!"
"Only one of us will survive. The other must die!"
His crimson electronic eyes blazed intensely.
Even at a disadvantage, Megatron declared his victory with unwavering confidence.
"If you dare duel with the winner, you're doomed to lose!"
"There no victory without sacrifice."
Optimus Prime response was straightforward. He didn't argue with Megatron, but his declaration was just as resolute.
He wasn't afraid of sacrifice.
Boom!
The two collided, their transformed weapons blasting shells directly into each other chests.
At the same time, Cyborg appeared between them.
Just as Megatron and Optimus Prime had finished declaring their duel and exchanged half a round of blows, Cyborg intervened.
"Get out of my sight, you piece of junk!"
Megatron roared furiously.
He fired a massive energy cannon at Cyborg.
Cyborg remained expressionless.
He shot a laser beam, prematurely detonating the energy shell.
Amid the raging flames, Cyborg broke through the fiery explosion, the AllSpark in his hand pressing straight toward Megatron chest.
"No!"
A wave of immense fear surged through Megatron mind.
At the same time, Starscream, Blitzwing, and Rumble, witnessing this scene, all wore expressions of utter disbelief.
They knew exactly what was about to happen.
Boom!
Suddenly, an enormous blaze erupted from an unknown source, enveloping the area where Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Cyborg were standing.
The entire base was illuminated as if it were broad daylight.
It felt as though the sun was right next to them.
Even Lennox felt it.
The raging flames scorched his eyebrows, leaving them slightly singed.
The inferno blocked his view, stinging his eyes to the point that he couldn't keep them open.
Lennox had no idea what was happening inside the blaze.
However, judging by the astonishing battle that had just unfolded before him, he could only imagine the intensity of the clash within the flames.
And remembering Batman earlier explanation…
Only by driving the AllSpark into the opponent chest could one truly destroy them…
However, the AllSpark would also be destroyed in the process.
These words echoed subconsciously in Lennox mind.
What he didn't realize was that this massive blaze was deliberately created by Cyborg and Optimus Prime as a diversion, designed to interfere with the human observer vision.
Swish!
At the same moment the massive flames erupted, Cyborg retracted the AllSpark and placed his hand on Megatron chest, activating his teleportation device.
In the blink of an eye, the two found themselves in a star system far from Earth.
"Huh?"
Megatron was startled.
As a mechanical being, he could survive in space without issue.
Looking around, he saw a massive sphere brimming with technological marvels, hovering in the void.
Standing before him was Cyborg, the human who had brought him here.
"So, you couldn't bear to destroy such a precious artifact as the AllSpark," Megatron surmised, his expression turning smug.
He burst into laughter. "Without the AllSpark, do you think you could pose a threat to me, human?"
"I think you might be mistaken," Cyborg replied.
Cyborg remained calm, a mocking smile on his face. "Don't you want to take a closer look at why I made this choice?"
As he finished speaking:
Click, click!
The war fortress behind Cyborg finally revealed its true, menacing form.
Countless gun barrels emerged from its structure, their ominous energy ripples converging into terrifying waves. Simultaneously, a massive energy shield activated, enveloping the fortress.
This formidable weapon, capable of devastating all life on Earth, now fully unveiled its overwhelming power, no longer merely hinting at its potential.
Although Lang had been the fortress previous commander, during his invasion of Earth, two key factors had limited its effectiveness: first, the fortress was not fully assembled at the time second, Cyborg unparalleled hacking abilities had restricted the fortress functionality by overriding its alien technology.
This gave the Justice League—and specifically Anton, who had transformed into Batman, along with Cyborg—a chance to turn the tide.
Otherwise, even Tony Stark would have struggled to breach the fortress outer defenses, much less face its full capabilities.
(Of course, let not draw comparisons to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. As everyone knows, the TMNT movie is a comedy.)
Returning to the story:
Seeing this unfold, Megatron was filled with dread.
Though he was the strongest among the Transformers, even he found it impossible to face such a devastating weapon head-on.
Unless he could infiltrate and dismantle it from the inside.
But the critical issue was that he was now on the outside, confronting the fortress at its most powerful.
"Damn it!"
Megatron expression darkened as he was relentlessly bombarded by energy projectiles.
Finally, under Cyborg indifferent gaze, Megatron limbs were severed by the unyielding barrage. A fatal shot to his chest marked the end of his wicked existence.
The light in Megatron eyes gradually faded.
The mortal wound on his chest was a deliberate mark, crafted by Cyborg clone.
After confirming Megatron death, Cyborg transported his lifeless body back to Earth, specifically to Sector 7 base at the Hoover Dam.
Of course, the AllSpark was left within the war fortress.
Swish!
Upon their return to the base, Optimus Prime, who had been maintaining the illusion of flames and occasionally creating distractions, exchanged a glance with Cyborg. Then he looked at Megatron lifeless body, sighed softly, and dispersed the fiery veil that had been obscuring the view.
Click!
At the same time, Optimus retracted his arm broad sword.
The sight of Megatron corpse, along with his severed limbs, gave the impression that this outcome wasn't solely Cyborg doing—Optimus had contributed significantly as well.
Now, everyone could clearly see the result:
Megatron was dead!
His severed limbs and the massive hole in his chest left no room for doubt.
After tens of thousands of years of battling the Autobots, Megatron had met his end on a remote, desolate planet in the universe.
The Decepticons were stunned.
The Autobots, on the other hand, were reinvigorated. Encouraged by this extraordinary victory, they unleashed power beyond their limits, forcing the Decepticons into retreat.
Run!
Starscream, Rumble, and Blitzwing exchanged glances, fear written across their faces.
Megatron death had sapped all their resolve.
At the same time, Megatron death also signified the destruction of the AllSpark.
They hadn't missed the massive hole in Megatron chest, nor the earlier image of Cyborg charging at Megatron with the AllSpark in hand.
The Autobots, of course, had no intention of letting the Decepticons escape so easily.
In moments like these, there was no room for the concept of sparing a fleeing enemy.
The Autobots pursued the Decepticons relentlessly.
Vroom vroom!!
Anton floored the Batmobile accelerator, zipping like lightning beneath the Decepticons' legs and racing ahead to the base massive entrance—the only one large enough for Transformers to pass through.
Click-click-click!
Homing missiles and countless armor-piercing rounds launched in unison.
The explosions and smoke filled the entire base, slowing the Decepticons' retreat.
The Autobots caught up with the Decepticons.
"Damn it!"
Starscream let out an enraged roar.
Rumble and Blitzwing, equally frustrated and battered, transformed their hands into cannons and began firing indiscriminately.
Boom-boom-boom-boom!
Energy projectiles erupted from all directions.
The base, built into a cavern, had already sustained significant damage from the ongoing battles. The continuous shelling now pushed the structure to its breaking point.
The walls and ceiling of the cave cracked.
Crack-crack-crack!
Web-like fractures spread rapidly.
The gaps widened with alarming speed.
Lennox dodged incoming projectiles, but the debris falling from the crumbling walls startled him as it struck his body.
The cave was about to collapse!
Lennox turned suddenly, his gaze falling on Optimus Prime and Cyborg at the edge of the smoke and fire.
He couldn't help but shout, "The cave is about to collapse!!"
Hearing this, Cyborg turned and saw it was true.
As Lennox had said, the battlefield was on the verge of collapse under the strain of the fierce battle.
The cave wouldn't hold much longer.
"We need to retreat!"
Cyborg glanced at Starscream and the others, who were pinned down and unable to lift their heads. "The Decepticons have no chance of recovering now!"
"Take the humans and evacuate. We'll get out before the cave collapses."
Optimus Prime looked at the increasingly desperate Decepticons.
"Battles between Transformers should end with Transformers. You've already helped us a lot. Thank you, Justice League."
Optimus Prime gave a slight nod of respect to Cyborg.
"Alright."
Cyborg nodded in response.
In the next moment, jets of energy erupted from behind him as he sped to Lennox side, grabbing him and flying out of the base.
At the same time, Anton drove the Batmobile out of the base.
About ten minutes later:
Boom, boom, boom!
The cave completely collapsed. Along the edge of the Hoover Dam, a massive depression replaced the previously protruding mountain peaks.
Dust clouds spread across the entire Hoover Dam.
The Batmobile hovered above the dam, with Anton inside. He glanced at the ground below, watching Optimus Prime and the others emerge from the dust. A faint smile crossed his lips.
Nearby, after placing Lennox in a safe location, Cyborg flew to the Batmobile and hovered beside it. Together, they observed Optimus Prime and his team.
Swish!
The moment Cyborg saw Optimus Prime and the others, he didn't hesitate. He dove into the swirling dust, appearing at their side. Using his teleportation device, he transported them to the war fortress in the distant galaxy.
Anton, seeing this, recalled the Batmobile with a thought and joined them in the war fortress.
…
Lennox stood on a high point of the Hoover Dam, choking on the thick, swirling dust.
Eventually, the dust began to clear.
In the distance, at the edge of the horizon, fighter jets arrived and circled overhead.
Soon after:
Columns of military jeeps carrying soldiers arrived at the scene.
The soldiers ignored the dust-covered Lennox, rushing instead to the massive depression beside the Hoover Dam.
They froze in shock.
The leading general surveyed the scene in silence for a moment, then pulled out a communicator and contacted the White House.
"Apologies."
He couldn't even hear the questions from the other side. With a heavy and sorrowful expression, he muttered, "We were too late…"
