Chapter 46: Daily Quest:Failed
In a dark room, with dim light of the sun coming through the drapes, the door swung open. Victor stepped into his dorm room and dragged his body. He collapsed on his bed.
"Arghhh, Fuckkkk, I'm bone tired." He screamed in an exhausted voice.
Ding!
[Daily Quest failed!]
[Punishment will commence in 30minutes]
[29:59s]
"What!" He shouted at the crimson panel, jerking upright from the bed.
[29:15s]
"Ugh, what will be the Punishment?" He slumped back on the bed, his eyes blank, staring into space.
"I need to rest." He whispered and closed his eyes. His breathing gradually relaxed.
[20:30s]
Slowly, the timer reached zero, and crimson light covered his body completely.
His eyes snapped open, and all he could see was the red light. Then, like he was getting squeezed through a straw, all his body was turning at an unnatural angle. His vision blurred, and nausea and dizziness overwhelmed him.
Thud!
Everything vanished, and he fell on the ground. Like a seed squeezed out from the fruit. His chest heaved, and he kept lying on his back. The red sky, with black clouds circled in his vision. He closed his eyes. After a few seconds, he felt better. He opened his eyes and saw a scarlet sky filled with patches of dark cloud.
Ding!
[Survive for 24hrs in Dozakh realm]
"Dozakh realm!" He exclaimed.
"Roarr!"
A three-headed dog-like a monster broke his daze. It towered above him with a height of 3 meters, and saliva dripped down from its three fanged mouths.
Grrr!
It growled at Victor, with a black aura oozing from it, and surrounded him like a net.
SNAPP!
The three heads lunged at him. His body moved on its own, rolling away, barely dodging it.
GRRR!
They yanked back and growled at him in anger. He jerked upright and stepped back cautiously with eyes fixed on the beast.
Ding!
[23:56:20seconds]
His eyes darted toward the system timer, and he gnashed his teeth, "Fuck you, system!"
'I have to run, its aura is affecting me. My body feels like a lead.' His mind raced trying to find a way out of this predicament.
'I can't evade it for 24hrs, it'll eventually catch me. What should I do?' He stepped back further.
The three-headed dog crouched low and pounced at him.
His eyes widened, he turned his tail and shouted, "Let's run for now!"
He bolted forward, and after a few steps, he fell face-first in the sand.
"Fuckkkkkkk these weights!" He screamed and crawled forward. It landed a few steps away from his body. He didn't glance back and kept crawling through the sand.
SNAPP!
"Argghhhh!"
This time, the middle head bit him by the leg, and a gut-wrenching scream escaped from his throat. It picked him up and shook him in the air like a bone. His screams reverberated in the empty desert as the monster played with him.
It flung him like a toy.
Swoosh!
He went hurling through the air, with his shrieks marking the path.
Bam!
He fell into a dune.
"Cough, cough, arghhh fucking dog!" he stood up and started limping away from it.
It walked after Victor in a relaxed manner. He glanced at it and clenched his fist. His right leg was coated in blood, flesh mangled and marred with teeth marks. The intense pain made his head clear.
He sped forward, his eyes darting around, trying to find a way, something to slip away from the monster. But there was nothing except for barren desert and mountains as far as he could see.
'The mountains!' he changed his direction and bolted toward the mountains.
GRRR!
He heard its growl; it was right behind him. He knew he couldn't outrun this monster, but he would never accept his death so easily.
He took out his revolver and spun.
At the same moment, the dog leaped toward him, its jaw opened wide, ready to snap him like a twig.
Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang!
He fired nonstop, in mid-air. Four Neo-bullets pierced through its open mouth and came out from the other side.
Thud!
Its lifeless body fell on the sand, forming a dust cloud.
"Huff, huff, Huff!" He lay on the sand, with his chest heaving.
"Why didn't I think of attacking it when I first saw it?" He muttered to himself. 'Thank God I keep the twin storm with me always loaded. But I only have 8 bullets remaining in both Colts.'
He stood up and glanced at the dead dog. His eyes trembled even while watching the lifeless body.
Ding!
[Level10 Cerberus]
[Level9>>10]
[5% immunity toward the Chaos aura]
[+1 Free stat, +1speed, +reflex]
[+500CP]
Victor clicked on the panel and opened the [Celestial Shop]. He bought the Low-medium grade potion in 500CP. It was better than the basic potion. He drank the light green potion, and his leg recovered. The Cerberus monster turned into motes of white light and flew into his system panel.
'I still can't understand this. What are those lights, and why do they always get absorbed in our system? It feels like all Gods benefit from this, too.' He shook his head and muttered, "Let's not think about the useless stuff. I'm already a target of a Lower God."
After his leg was completely healed, he stood up and headed toward the mountains. 'I hope I don't encounter a similar monster,' He prayed in his mind and raised his head, looking at the panel. There were still 23 hours remaining in this hell.
He exhaled muttering, "For sure, this system is trying to kill me."
As he reached the bottom of the mountain, he examined. Its stones had a crimson color mixed with brown; it felt like blood had dried on them. He observed the steep climb, trying to find a cave or a small hole to hide. He spotted one just a few feet away from the ground.
He climbed and dragged his body through the large opening. The cave was wider and deeper than he imagined. Its walls were rough, with several spiky ridges emerging from them. The air of the cave was colder than outside. But there was a decaying flesh smell in the cave that bugged him the most.
He carefully trod deeper inside, his eyes darting around cautiously and muscles tense.
Buzzzzzzz!
He heard the sound of vibration, and he stopped in mid-step. His eyes narrowed and gazed deeper into the cave.
Two yellow serpentine eyes glowed in the dark, looking at him. He retracted his foot and bolted outside.
Hisssssss!
Hissing and slithering sounds echoed behind him.
"Fuck, fuck fuck!!!!" he screamed without glancing back at the monster.
