Chapter 41: Crimson Altar
Rumble!
Bzzzzzz….
The shaking stopped.
The body of Cecaelia turned into motes of light. And little bright particles flew to the trio, collapsed on the ground.

A red panel shimmered above Kate, with a massive jump in her levels.
"YES!" She shouted in excitement.
Above Feena, a golden panel shimmered with a notification.

Feena smiled happily at the sudden increase in two levels.
Victor's eyebrows furrowed as he stared at the system panel before him.

[Strength: 20 (Threshold – can't be increased)]
[+1 Free stats]
"What the hell is a threshold?" He shouted in frustration.
Kate turned toward him, rolling her eyes. "You don't even know about Threshold?"
He shook his head.
"A threshold is a stage where you can't increase the stat. Usually, it's 20 for every stat. After you're assigned your class, you could grow your stats accordingly." Kate stated briefly.
"You mean to say, I won't be able to increase my stat until I break through to level 20?" He asked.
Kate gave a nod and replied with a mischievous smile, "My strength crossed the Threshold during our… ahem-lovemaking."
He slumped back on the floor and groaned, "Arghh, the fuck!"
Feena stood up and stepped near the pond. She stared at the grotesque altar.
Bzzzzz…..
A buzzing sound pierced her brain. Her heart raced, her face turned pink, and her chest heaved. She felt the arousal, an uncontrollable urge. Her inner beast, her werewolf side, growled in heat. Her legs quivered, and she fell near the pond. Her mind turned blank, and a deep moan escaped her mouth. Her hand slid between her legs, and she started gyrating her hips.
"mhmmm, Ahhhh!" She moaned loudly, giving into her beastly instincts and forgetting everything else.
Kate and Victor turned toward her. Their eyes went wide. Victor's eyes drifted toward the statue, and with only one look, his heart started racing. He flinched back.
"DON'T LOOK AT THE STATUE!" He shouted, breaking eye contact. Kate turned away from the altar.
"Mmmhhmmm, Yes! Yes!" Feena shrieked with her hip humping against the ground. Victor took out the revolver and fired at the altar. Kate followed his example.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several shots aimed at the altar broke it in seconds.
Boom!
Crack!
The altar crumbled into pieces.
"Ahhhhhh! Mmmhhhhm!" Feena's body stiffened, and a scream escaped her throat.
Thud!
Her chest heaved, and her eyes closed as she fell back on the ground. Her t-shirt was wet from the sweat.
RUMBLE!
The ground shook and dust fell from the roof.
Victor and Kate lost the balance. He fell back first onto the ground, and Kate stumbled over him.
Creakkkkk!
Like an old door's creaking sound, a wooden stair descended above the crumbled altar.
And shaking stopped.
Ding!

[Host doesn't have enough CP to convert Grudge points into Charm stat]
"Not again." Victor sighed in exhaustion. His head fell back on the ground.
Kate raised her head from his chest and looked at his face. She whispered, "What happened?"
He stared into her eyes and sighed again, "That altar belongs to the God of Lust, and he has followers in the Neero. He is awarding me with grudge points so his followers can find me easily."
"What!" Kate exclaimed and stood upright.
"How can a god award someone with grudge points directly, and I thought the God of Lust was a demon?" Kate blurted in a single breath.
Victor stood up and glanced at Feena. She was still lying on the ground and staring at the roof. He walked beside her. Feena turned her head and exhaled with exasperated breath.
"Are you alright?" He asked, scratching his head awkwardly.
Feena stood up, observing with a scowl on her face. "I lost control again." She gnashed her teeth.
"Hahahaha, don't worry, it wasn't that embarrassing," Kate commented with a laugh.
Feena glared at her and turned to the wooden stairs. Victor followed her gaze and found the stairs ascending into the roof. They appeared to be old, covered in dust.
"Let's go up, maybe we will find a way to get out of here." Feena stepped forward. Victor nodded and quietly followed her. Kate, on the other hand, scoffed at her and walked beside him.
Creakkk!
The stairs creaked as Feena stepped on them. But they felt sturdy, not like they would fall off because of their weight. She climbed up and appeared on the other side. Victor and Kate came right behind her. As they looked around, they froze in shock.
Before them was a hall bigger than the previous one, with several obsidian pillars standing in line on either side. At the end of the hall, in the middle of a raised stage-like stone platform, a statue stood.
A golden statue of a woman, with a dress of gold, her face completely hidden under the veil. Behind her on a wall covered in webs, a Moon, a Crimson Moon, was etched.
Kate's heart skipped a beat, and she felt her mind turn serene. A feeling of reverence rose from her heart. She knelt without a second thought. There was no resistance in her heart and mind.
Ding!
[Moon Goddess statue forgotten into oblivion]
[ A blessing for the follower who knelt to a forgotten altar]
[Aura locket- rank gold]
[Description: can hide aura, and sunlight won't have any effect]
Shinggggg!
With a metallic, ringing sound, an intense red light covered the whole altar. After a few seconds, it vanished.
Kate opened her eyes and examined the locket around her neck. It was a circular Crimson Moon with a dim glow, strapped into a silver chain. She smiled happily and clasped her hands in a prayer gesture. "Thank you, Goddess." She whispered.
Ding!
[Red Moon-Aura Locket]
[Rank Gold]
[Effect: Hide aura and shield from the Sunlight (below level 200 can't see through it)]
[Note: Blessed by the Moon Goddess, only Kate Hyperion can wear it]
"Wow, that's amazing," Kate jumped in the air happily. Victor smiled at her and stepped ahead. As he approached the steps, he could feel the statue's stare boring into him. He raised his head and looked at it, but there was nothing. 'Did I make a mistake?'
He shook his head and took another step forward. He reached the wall behind the statue. He cleaned the webs and dust around it. A full Moon appeared, and its crimson light converged on the golden statue, turning it blood red.
Rumble!
The hall shook, and dust and webs fell from the pillars.
Swoosh!
The torches lit up with crimson fire, and light spread, painting the hall in red. It felt like a Crimson Moon stood behind the statue, and its light painted the hall in its color. Victor felt a close connection with everything in the altar.
Ding!
[Crimson Altar Revived]
[Hidden under the dust for millennia, foreshadowed by the sin of Lust]

[Shadow Moon- Skill book]
With a flash of light, an ordinary-looking book appeared in front of him. He crouched down and picked up the book. Its cover was plain black. On the first page was written;
'Son of Moon Goddess, a creature of shadows and night. Moon will always watch over you.'
He couldn't understand the cryptic sentence. He turned another page, but there wasn't anything written on it. He checked the whole book, but except for the cryptic sentence on the first, there was nothing else written in the book.
Too good to be true, right? He thought, examining its black cover. A thought of throwing crossed his mind, but he shook his head and kept it. He stepped down from the altar and stood beside the two girls, looking around in shock.
