Chapter 45: Night Walkers
As they stepped into the gigantic black gate that towered above the world, Uche couldn't help but be lost in his thoughts, he just couldn't think straight as there were so many for him to take in.
Is it the fact that the vampire world is not on earth? Or the fact that only gods know how many miles he had gone from the world he was born. He knew there were other planets apart from earth, all teeming with different inhabitants, aliens but he had never heard of any that inhabited the vampires. Not that he knew an entity like that existed before, not until recently.
There's also the fact that Mira turned out to be the princess of this strange world.
'This is just too crazy.'
He's currently walking in the middle of the five robust guards while Mira could be seen not too far away from him, she seemed focused on the screen of her wristwatch. It's either she supposedly left Uche alone to process his thoughts all by himself or she's genuinely busy with her wristwatch, Uche didn't know. But he didn't want to know either because after learning that his companion for the last month is the princess of the whole vampire kingdom, Uche didn't know how to react so he preferred the silence between them.
Looking around their surroundings, Uche noticed that there were a few people in their vicinity, all dressed in the same armor as the guards escorting them, they all bowed their heads slightly in respect as they walked past them.
'They seem to be the ones protecting the entrance.'
Uche thought as he could see all kinds of different things he could not describe, but they all seemed to be deadly futuristic weapons built against war, they're all well stationed right behind the gigantic gates with those people guarding them.
After walking past the guards and the weapons, Uche could see a strange white circle that stood tall right in front of them, it stood still and several feet tall, towering above everything else in the vicinity apart from the gigantic gate itself.
"Is... Is that a portal?"
Uche asked, staring at it in disbelief.
Although this was completely different from the one that brought them here, this was a lot bigger and just white in color while the previous one was small with different colors, and the portal itself seemed to have popped out of the small mechanism that Mira brought out, but Uche didn't need to be told that they served the same purpose.
"Yes, mind you this is completely different from what brought us here. This is a magical portal while the previous one was a portable mechanism teleporter, but they both served the same purpose."
Mira explained as they arrived in front of the strange portal with the guards guiding it slightly bowing down to Mira.
"We'll be stepping into the vampire world now, hope you're ready to embrace what's about to come."
Mira asked as one of the guards tapped the screen of his wristwatch a few times and the white color changed, disappeared completely and within the portal now were shades of different colors, swirling wildly like a turbulent wave.
Uche stared at it for a moment, then nodded and they both stepped into the portal, completely disappearing from view.
---
A moment later, both Mira and Uche appeared at the other side of the portal with different waves of energy brushing against Uche, the wind blew differently and the air around him seemed more thick and cold.
Uche could finally feel that he was in a world completely different from earth, not only feel but he could also see it.
"What the bloody hell? I've never seen something like this before?"
Uche muttered under his breath, his gaze focused on the sky above which was somehow purple twilight in color. He hadn't noticed it before since they were in the weapon field, he knew the sky was different from the blue sky on earth but he hadn't paid it much attention, not until now that everything felt different around him.
Mesmerized by the purple twilight sky, Uche stood in place staring at it with wide eyes and opened jaw.
"If you keep staring like that people will immediately know that you're a newcomer and might attempt something nasty on you."
Mira commented, bringing him back to reality.
"Oh the people!"
Uche said as he looked around.
The people were also different, although they looked nothing different from humans, but their act was completely different. Uche could see young boys and girls running and flying around the street like they've got some flying abilities. A boy not older than Uche himself jumped from the ground onto the roof of a single building that stood by the side.
"Is this also part of vampire skills?"
Uche asked in which Mira nodded in response.
"You'll also learn to do all these things in a few months or years."
She said as they started moving forward.
The place they had appeared at the other side of the portal was bustling with lives, people could be seen everywhere, tall buildings hovered above the ground, and overshadowed the short ones. Right ahead of them was a bus station that different buses and cars seemed to be flying and driving in and out of it. Uche was a bit surprised to see different cars and buses moving mid-air but he didn't give any reaction.
The wind blew fiercely against him, making him feel a little cold.
"Don't worry you won't feel the cold again in a couple weeks when you've evolved into a pure blooded one."
Mira said, seeing him hugging himself slightly while cracking his fingers by the seconds.
"Is the sky always like this? I mean how would you know when it's night if it's just this purple twilight color."
Uche asked.
"I guess you'll find out yourself, you just need to wait till night falls."
Mira replied. They approached the bus station and boarded a public bus which zoomed off immediately.
"Where are we even going?"
Uche asked, curious.
"Palace."
Mira responded and a couple minutes later, they arrived at their destination. Ahead of them was what could only be described as a gigantic colosseum, standing countless feet away from the ground while covering several landscapes and upon getting inside, it looked like a whole new city.
"This is the King's City, I was supposed to go straight to the palace but I'll first escort you to the City Hall where you'll be registered as a legal vampire of this world."
Mira explained that Uche needed to be a legal vampire of Arcane World before he could get anything done, he needed to get an identity card which would serve as his privilege in this world, without it he couldn't do anything.
After getting himself registered as a legal vampire of Arcane World, he would be sent directly to the academy where he would spend two years to cultivate himself and become a citizen who could walk freely in the world and have his own family.
