CONNECT: Rise Of The Undead King

After the situation had been explained to Inspector Ray, they moved out of the outskirts and back to the headquarters. On the same night, several doctors were called in to do anything they could, to make sure the three captives woke up before dawn.

Several pills and injections were given to them, to get rid of the effect of the toxic smoke in a quicker manner. Mr. Kim was the first to wake up and he was surprised to find himself on the hospital bed with two men staring at him with predatory eyes.

"Hey, calm down old man, we are the cops, we saved you from those people. So we want you to relax and answer our questions diligently."

Inspector Ray said, trying to calm the terrified man down. They had been expecting the surgeon to wake up first so they could question him first, only to get disappointed but they still decided to question the one who woke up first.

Mr. Kim nodded after calming down a little, then looked around and found his wife on a nearby bed.

"Don't worry, she's fine and she would wake up soon."

Sergeant Kim said and the man nodded again.

"I'm sure you're ready to answer our question. First, how did you get into that building with your wife, does it belong to you?"

Inspector Ray asked and Mr. Kim shook his head as his answer.

"It was three days ago, late at night, my wife and I were about to close the workshop and have a good night rest, but then, this young man suddenly appeared in front of the workshop, standing there motionlessly. We told him we are closed, he should come back the next day, but I didn't know what happened right after I said those words, because I passed out immediately. And when I woke up again, I found myself in the lab, strapped to a metal chair with my wife next to me."

"This young man would come time to time with a very old man by his side, he would torture both me and my wife, asking about Uche and forcing information about him out of me."

"Oh did you know Uche before?"

Sergeant Kim asked, interrupting him.

The man hesitated for a couple seconds before speaking.

"Yes, he's my only worker, we work together at my workshop in the outskirts and I pay him daily."

"How long has he been working for you?"

Sergeant Kim asked.

"About six months or so, but I never knew he was a Connect, not until the young man said it after asking information about him."

Mr. Kim answered, his voice a little strained.

"So did you tell him anything?"

Inspector Ray asked.

"No, even I know nothing about Uche, not even where he lives, and that's why this young man tortured my wife and I every time, thinking I'm lying for him."

He answered.

Sergeant Kim whispered into Inspector Ray's ear before he asked the next question.

"Can you give the detailed description of this young man you talk about."

Inspector Ray asked.

"Yes, he had red spiky hair, well chiseled face and a pointed nose, with killer eyes."

Mr. Kim explained, Inspector Ray brought out his phone, showed the old man something on it, who nodded in confirmation.

"Okay, what else happened while you were in the lab, did anybody visit apart from this young man and the old man with him."

Inspector Ray asked.

"Nobody visited, but this young man always went out every night and returned late, and the old man would always come while he was away, telling us to always listen to him and give him the answer he wanted, that we wouldn't suffer again if we did so."

"And then he went out tonight, only to come back with Uche, unconscious."

Sergeant Kim raised an eyebrow, interrupting the man again.

"Oh he came with Uche tonight, and Uche was unconscious."

He asked and the man nodded.

"Interesting."

Sergeant Kim said.

"Did you perhaps overhear their discussion after Uche woke up?"

Inspector Ray asked, but before the man could answer, the old surgeon they had been waiting for slowly raised his head, on the bed he was lying.

"Seems he's awake, you can rest now, Mr. Kim."

Inspector Ray said as they left Mr. Kim and approached the surgeon.

On that same night, both Mira and Uche had gone to Kante's known house and returned, but they found nothing.

They couldn't find the bastard in his house after searching everywhere thoroughly, and the surrounding areas, in fact, it's almost as if the house hadn't been visited for weeks.

They returned home after doing a fruitless search, they both sat on the chair staring into the air and thinking differently, eventually, Mira broke the silence a few minutes later.

"If the cops are as smart as they should be, then all exits out of the city should be blocked. But those idiots will still be waiting for the three witnesses to wake up so they could question them to get enough evidence before acting."

She said, her expression distant.

"Then don't you think we should forward the whole conversation to them?"

Uche asked, also staring into the air.

"Right."

Seeing the two cops approach, the old surgeon couldn't help but shake slightly, having the urge to disappear. He had already assessed the situation and knew that the cops were here to question him after saving him from Snowflake.

They'll probably lock him if they found out that he had been living with that bastard for the past few days.

"I...I never knew he was Snowflake, trust me, I didn't know nothing until today."

The old surgeon said, his voice trembling.

"You better calm down and answer us diligently, or else you will regret it."

Sergeant Kim said, in a cold threatening voice.

"I will, I will."

The surgeon replied, shaking.

"First."

Inspector Ray began to talk.

"I assume that that building in the outskirts belongs to you, to hide yourself from the gaze of the officials because of the dirty work you do."

The man nodded.

"Then, that means you're Snowflake's colleague with the rest of your gang, so how dare you lie that you don't know."

Inspector Ray said, his voice getting harsh.

"I will explain."

The man said, swallowing hard.

"Yes I work for the organ trafficking ring, but our company had nothing to do with Snowflake, we never knew who he was. I only got to know him these days."

Sergeant Kim and Inspector Ray glanced at each other, then took a seat next to the man's bed.
